Disney+ deal cuts subscription price to £1.99 - but you'll need to act fast
Disney+ has reintroduced a highly sought-after streaming deal, offering subscriptions for £1.99. The streaming giant has launched a 'limited-time promotion' that provides a 60% saving compared to the regular price.
The offer lets new and returning customers subscribe to Disney+ Standard with Ads for £1.99 a month, a deal which will last for four months. Ordinarily, this would amount to £19.96 in total, but it's currently available for only £7.96 – a saving of £12.
However, this bargain won't be available indefinitely and is set to finish on June 30. Following the four-month promotional period, Disney+ Standard with Ads will automatically renew at the prevailing monthly retail price unless cancelled.
This deal puts Disney+ as the cheapest big streaming site, even when compared to the lowest subscription tiers of Netflix (£5.99), Amazon's Prime Video (£5.99) and Apple TV+ (£8.99). The timing of this offer coincides with an exciting summer schedule of new and returning films and series, headlined by the Disney blockbuster Snow White, which is currently available for streaming.
Other releases slated for this summer include Marvel's Ironheart (June 25), season four of The Bear (June 26) and the new prequel series Alien: Earth (August 13). These additions will further enrich an already extensive library featuring recent hits and critically acclaimed series such as Andor, Welcome to Wrexham, Rivals, Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun, reports the Mirror.
For £1.99, subscribers can access a wealth of entertaining content, including Stolen Girl, Good American Family, and the second season of the hit reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. While some may worry about ads disrupting their viewing experience, Disney+ has limited commercials to an average of less than four minutes per hour, fewer than traditional TV broadcasts.
Additionally, ads are only shown before a movie begins, not during the actual screening. Those willing to commit to a full year upfront on the Standard or Premium plan will essentially receive two months free.
By opting for an annual subscription, users can enjoy 12 months of access for the price of 10, saving up to £25.98 in the process.
This upgrade also includes superior video quality, with up to 4K UHD and HDR, as well as the ability to stream on four devices at once. Members of Disney+ have expressed their satisfaction with the service on Trustpilot, with one reviewer stating: "Offering a fantastic and constantly updated collection."
Another fan raved about the addition of new content, stating: "I love Disney+. I'm a Star Wars and Marvel fan but since the addition of Starz it boosted my love, there's even more content for adults now that's worth it all round."
However, this same reviewer felt the service fell slightly short, commenting: "The only reason it didn't get five stars is Disney are not using their other brands in the subscription. If they did this, it could easily be the best subscription service ever, but there is much more content locked behind their own service."
Yet another glowing five-star review reads: "Good servers, good services, this nostalgia when watching old cartoons from TV. The subscription is really cheap compared to other streaming services."

Fans might be surprised to know that the actor is now dedicating his focus to MindsEye, which is an action-adventure video game set in the near-future fictional desert city. Thomas provides both the voice and performance capture for character Marco Silva. 'This honestly is no different from on camera acting,' Thomas told of his new role. 'You have to use your imagination way more because you're on a small soundstage, and you just kind of have to imagine everything that's happening,' he continued. He said that his character, Silva, is one that you'll only be able to figure out by playing the game, as he's quite complex. 'Silva kind of runs the city without really running the city,' the Cory in the House actor said. 'All the cars are his own companies, all of the robots that are throughout the whole city are of his own companies, and he's a little bit of, I would say, maniacal a**hole, but you kind of have to play the game to find out if he's a good guy or a bad guy,' he shared. However, this is not his first foray into video games. 'The first video game I was in was probably 20 something years ago. It was a PlayStation two video game called Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer, in which I played the title character,' he explained. 'But completely different experience, because that was me in a voiceover booth,' he continued. 'Really no reference to go off of for anything.' Thomas detailed that the technology nowadays is so advanced, especially as he worked on MindsEye. They had him wearing a helmet complete with two tiny cameras pointing at his face that tracked all of his facial movements, capturing every single detail from his performance. In addition to acting in MindsEye, Thomas is still pretty involved in the children's television world. 'I have been directing for commercials with a lot of Nickelodeon promos, toy commercials, stuff like that,' Thomas revealed to 'I kind of rely on my background as a as a child actor,' he said. 'I know what it's like to, you know, be a kid on set and make that a fun and enjoyable experience. The Odyssey: The full cast for Christopher Nolan's Greek epic
With filming for The Odyssey now well under way, it is clear that one way director Christopher Nolan is hoping to impress audiences is with its all star cast. As Odysseus, Matt Damon will lead the huge ensemble cast which Nolan has assembled to bring the Greek epic to life. The American actor, who has worked with the director twice before, will be joined by stars including Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and many, many more. Considering Nolan's penchant for recruiting those he has previously worked with, several cast members have appeared in his earlier films such as Elliot Page and Robert Pattinson, as well as Josh Stewart whose role in The Odyssey marks his fourth time working with the director. Set for release next year, the fantasy film adapts Homer's epic poem which follows the tumultuous journey of Greek champion Odysseus as he returns home after the Trojan War. It is Nolan's first film since the release of Oppenheimer, which won Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards, and reportedly his most expensive yet. I hadn't seen a film similar to this before, so I thought this was great to watch. Great acting and very good effects. Will watch this again and again."
