American tourist, 40, missing in Mexico after being dragged out to sea as Canadian man, 31, found dead
Canadian Braydon Bretzer, 31, and American Chris Ankele, 40, both disappeared after being pulled away by a strong current while swimming in notoriously dangerous waters.

Authorities said the pair were last seen off Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido on Mexico's southern Pacific coast.
Both were caught being pulled away by the choppy waters and drifted out into the sea before vanishing without a trace, investigators said.
A local Oaxaca Civil Protection unit and a team of lifeguards desperately launched a search and rescue mission but couldn't find either of the men.
Tragic footage was later recorded on Monday afternoon showing Bretzer's body floating in the water.
An emergency boat rushed out to bring the man to safety but he was pronounced dead due to drowning, according to initial reports.
Ankele's body is yet to be recovered.
Tributes to Bretzer, a former youth football coach and freelance marketing consultant, have been paid by his friends back home in Saskatoon.
Graeme Bouvier said: "On the night of May 25th, we lost a very special friend, brother, son and teammate.
"Braydon's sudden passing has left a deep hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"Braydon lived life to the fullest. He had a contagious energy, and a heart that made space for everyone."
A GoFundMe page has also been set up by Bouvier to help fly Bretzer's body back home to Canada and to give his family any additional support.
It has raised over $8,500 so far.
The San Pedro Mixtepec mayor's office said in a statement on Thursday evening: "Search efforts continue to determine the whereabouts of the second tourist, following the protocols established in the sea search plan.
"The municipal government reiterates its commitment to addressing this emergency and maintains ongoing coordination with state and federal authorities."
Zicatela Beach is known as a bustling tourist hotspot and is popular with surfers due to its massive waves.
But due to the dangerous conditions and often fast flowing waters, holidaymakers are urged not to swim for their own safety.

A number of deadly trips to the beach in recent years have resulted in these warnings being constantly repeated to travellers.
In April, a 22-year-old Miguel Robles drowned at the beach with his brother Benjamín Robles, 26, having to be rescued by horrified onlookers and lifeguards.
And in May 2023, Romanian holidaymaker Andra Kitsu, 33, drowned despite warning flags reminding visitors to stay out of the water.
Last month, another missing tourist was also found dead just days after desperately trying to save his friend from a riptide during their vacation in Mexico.
Alejandro Gonzalez, 20, vanished while swimming in the ocean after he managed to save his female friend who was in difficulty.
His body was found after a three-day search.
A loving mum was also killed in a Mexican beach horror story after a shark tore off her leg while she lifted her five-year-old to safety.
Maria Fernandez Martinez Jimenez, 26, was just 65ft from the shore when she was savaged by the beast at Melaque Beach in the state of Jalisco.

Cops reported how there was a lack of color in his skin and he didn't appear to be breathing. Meanwhile, Chandler cops recommended child abuse charges against Brady. Last month, Maricopa County attorneys ruled that Brady wouldn't be charged. Attorneys revealed there is 'no reasonable likelihood of conviction.' 'In order to convict a person of this charge, the state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to a unanimous jury that the person failed to perceive a substantial and unjustifiable risk, and that failure to perceive the risk was a gross deviation from the standard of care a reasonable person would show,' they said. Emilie, a parenting influencer, has not spoken publicly about Trigg's death. Just hours before the tragedy unfolded, she shared a TikTok clip that showed Brady in bed with Trigg and Theodore. Texas businessmen indicted for allegedly bribing officials at Mexico's Pemex
MEXICO CITY, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Two Texas businessmen were indicted for allegedly bribing officials at Mexico's state energy company Pemex with $150,000 and luxury items to secure contracts, the U.S. Justice Department announced on Monday. Between 2019 and 2021, Ramon Rovirosa and Mario Avila, both Mexican citizens and U.S. lawful permanent residents, conspired to pay bribes to officials at Pemex and its exploration and production arm, known as PEP, according to an indictment unsealed in the Southern District of Texas. Rovirosa is also alleged to have ties to Mexican cartel members, the Department of Justice said in a statement. Rovirosa, 46, was arraigned while Avila, 61, remains at large. Reuters was unable to immediately contact the lawyers for Rovirosa and Avila. Pemex did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Together with co-conspirators, Rovirosa and Avila allegedly paid bribes in the form of cash and luxury goods, including from Louis Vuitton and Hublot, to at least three Pemex and PEP officials. In exchange, those Pemex officials are accused of helping companies associated with Rovirosa obtain contracts worth at least $2.5 million, the statement said. Mexico and its ailing state company Pemex have for decades been awash with corruption, with several former senior officials facing charges, including former Chief Executive Officer Emilio Lozoya. Lozoya, in turn, has accused ex-presidents Felipe Calderon and Carlos Salinas of corruption, along with former President Enrique Pena Nieto, his ex-finance minister, Luis Videgaray, and more than a dozen others. Dancer suffering from anorexia fundraising for treatment
Olivia-May Ashton, aged 29, was diagnosed with atypical anorexia in 2016 - while she was training at a dance school in London. A decade on, and Olivia, from Buckley, says Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) "continues to deny me of the treatment I need". "I left London, had to move home, due to needing more support - and wasn't able to continue my dance career," she said. "My care was meant to be transferred to my local eating disorder community team. But it wasn't, I was placed in my local community mental health team and left with no specialist treatment and a battle to get any support. "They refused to believe I had an eating disorder, even though I was formally diagnosed at the Maudsley Psychiatric Hospital in London." Olivia, who has autism, said over the past five years she has been "in and out" of an acute psychiatric hospital. "I'd have crisis episodes, burnouts, and meltdowns", she said. "Which we now understand is my autism and ADHD, which my community team never picked up on. "I had a private assessment and was formally diagnosed. I have had multiple specialist eating disorder assessments recommending specific treatment for my needs, which continues to be unmet and ignored by BCUHB. "The services which are meant to provide help and support, have ultimately made my mental health and life worse. "I have now been left with no choice other than to try and fund some private treatment, but this is going to come at a huge cost. It shouldn't be a postcode lottery for people to access the required services, but this is the reality." Olivia has set up a GoFundMe page to fund treatment at the ABBI eating disorders clinic in Greater Manchester which offers group and one-to-one therapy, and meal support. After she requested access to the ABBI facility through the NHS, BCUHB told her that the Welsh NHS does not commission day programme services for eating disorders. The health board said it was also deemed to be the "best course of action", and instead suggested Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). "I've already had DBT and it didn't work for me", Olivia said. "I can't help but feel neglected by NHS adult mental health services, and hope that in the future no one else has to go through what I have been through, and continue to go through on a daily basis." MORE NEWS: Olivia has submitted a formal complaint to BCUHB - which has confirmed it is looking into. Teresa Owen, BCUHB's executive director of Allied Health Professions and Health Science, said: 'We are sorry to hear that Miss Ashton is unhappy with the care she has received. "We can confirm we have received her concern this week and will be responding to her directly.'
