Inside The Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi's life from triple miscarriages to famous mum

Daily Record5 days ago
Alex Polizzi has been a familiar face on our screens for years, thanks to her role as The Hotel Inspector. But what do we know about the woman behind the expert hotelier exterior?
Alex Polizzi has been a television mainstay for years thanks to her starring role on The Hotel Inspector.

The hospitality expert first graced the Channel 5 programme back in 2008, stepping into the shoes of Ruth Watson. Ever since, she's won over countless viewers with her no-nonsense approach.

Never one to mince her words when critiquing the venues she visits, Alex has built a reputation for her brutally honest assessments.

Beyond her television career though, Alex enjoys wedded bliss with her seldom-spotted baker spouse and raises two youngsters. But what do we know about the person beneath the professional hotelier facade?

Alex Polizzi's celebrated family background
Alex Polizzi entered the world in Poplar, London on August 28, 1971. It appears the hospitality trade flows through the TV personality's veins, given her distinguished family heritage in the sector, reports the Mirror.
Her grandfather was Scottish hotel magnate Lord Forte, who established the Forte Group empire, encompassing well-known names like Travelodge.

Meanwhile, Alex's mother Olga Polizzi works as an interior designer and previously served as a Westminster City Council representative. Tragically, Alex's father, Count Alessandro Polizzi, passed away when Alex was merely nine years of age.
"It made my mum quite fearful for us, so she was a pretty strict mother and tried to keep us very close to her," Alex previously revealed regarding her father's passing.
Alex told Best magazine: "I became determined to be fearless and had to really fight to be allowed to go off backpacking to southeast Asia for the first time at 18. It was an argument that went on for months."

Alex's relationship with her seldom-seen husband
Alex is smitten with her husband Marcus Miller, a baker by profession. The couple have been an item for several years and exchanged vows in 2007, after waiting 12 years to tie the knot.
According to Alex, there was a rather candid reason behind the delay.

In a chat with The Sun, she admitted: "I still wanted to f*** around, if I'm honest! Who wants to get married at 22? I'm a much better wife than I was 10 years ago.
"Partly, you really realise that this is the person you're with for the rest of your life, so there's no point p****** them off."
Alex on why she believes she's a 'terrible mum'

Alex and Marcus are the proud parents of two children, daughter Olga, 17, and Rocco, 12. In a past interview, Alex confessed that she considers herself a "terrible mum".
She told The Sun: "I'm a terrible mum in that I find it really f****** boring. My lovely, adorable, gorgeous boy says to me: 'Mummy, come and play with me,' and I say: 'You know I don't play.' I'll take him for a cycle ride, I'll have a game of football with him – I'm quite physical.Alex continued: "I'll construct a huge camp for them, but don't make me play in it. I'm better at being a hotel inspector than I am a mother.
Alex's sorrow following miscarriages
In 2013, Alex openly discussed her heartbreak following multiple miscarriages. The television personality disclosed that after the birth of her first child, Olga, she endured three pregnancy losses, including one that occurred just past the five-month mark."
It is just so shocking to find out that one's body lets them down in this way," she told MailOnline at the time.Alex continued: "Once you've had a child, it seems unusual that one couldn't have another one. You're not expecting it, and it comes as such a wallop."

Richard Madeley says 'my mum hated me' for life-changing decision he made

ITV Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley made a life-changing decision at the age of 16 but it seems his mum was not happy about it and 'hated' him for it During today's episode of Good Morning Britain, Richard Madeley confessed that his mother was not pleased with a decision he made in his youth. ‌ On Thursday's (August 14) instalment of the ITV programme, the presenter, 69, brought up the topic of A-Level results day. ‌ In conversation with his co-host Charlotte Hawkins, he asked: "What did you get, Charlie?" To which she responded: "I got three As". ‌ Richard quipped: "Oh there's always one isn't there?!" However, she admitted that these were not her predicted grades and she hadn't performed as well in her mock exams. She explained: "We all went to the school to get them, it was really special and I was not expecting that at all. "I think having not done very well when it came to the mock exams obviously gave me some impetus to think, 'Well, I need to get cracking on this'" The focus then shifted to Richard, who disclosed that he had left school at an early age, reports the Mirror. When Charlotte enquired about his exam results, he said: "Well, I left school at 16 to join the local paper. My mum thought it was a very bad move, my dad thought it was great. ‌ "My mum hated me as I started work when I was 16 and she insisted that I go to night school and take A-Levels there. So, I took an English A-Level and I got a B, I think." However, the seasoned broadcaster pointed out that when he sat the exam, he was already two years into his position at the publication, which launched his career. ‌ It appeared Richard had made the correct choice as he had climbed to assistant editor and secured a role with the BBC by age 19. Nevertheless, the ITV personality has previously opened up about his difficult school experiences. During a chat on Good Morning Britain, he spoke about being singled out by bullies. ‌ He said at the time: "I was at school long before social media and I got really badly bullied through the first two years of my Grammar School, when I was about 12 and 13 years old. "I dread to think had we been online as well, it just would have been a nightmare. "I didn't report it. It was a sense of shame, not a sense of fear, that I was being targeted." There was a big fall out after Katie wasn't allowed to go to Princess' 18th birthday party, hosted by her ex, and her daughter's dad, Peter Andre. In part one of the fourth episode of The Princess Diaries, Princess was asked by her famous father who she wanted at her party - and it appeared to not include Katie. In a conversation at the family home, Peter asked his teenage daughter: "You do know your birthday's in, like, less than a week. "It's about what are we going to do for your birthday?" After some hesitation from Princess, the Mysterious Girl singer asked: "You don't want a big party?" She then replied: " It's not that I don't want a big party, but it's just, like… ..I'd rather ..have, like, a sit-down meal with you, like, just the family, like, in the household." This could be seen as a snub to mum Katie, as she isn't part of the "household". Princess turned 18 back in June, and at the time Katie claimed she wasn't invited because she had been banned from appearing in The Princess Diaries. Speaking on her The Katie Price Show podcast at the time, she said: "Everyone knows she's doing this documentary - and I'm not in it. Princess Andre takes TWO subtle swipes at mum Katie Price as she reveals what she will NEVER do to follow in her footsteps "Certain people don't think it's good for Princess to be seen with me. Certain people that used to look after me." Her sister Sophie chipped in: "You aren't on brand Katie. You are too risky Katie that's why." Katie then said: "It's pathetic. I'm her mother. "I'm just saying, Princess was like 'I'm having a party'. And I wasn't invited because it was for 'filming.'" 5 Katie previously talked about not being invited to Princess' party Credit: Getty Sophie added: "Oh of course it was! I wonder what restaurant did that for free." Continuing the rant, Katie said: "The fact is there's stuff my daughter is doing and I'm not allowed to be seen at any of it." The Sun revealed how the documentary has caused a huge rift between Princess and her famous mum. Katie previously vented about those working with her daughter after The Sun revealed her secret heartache about being cut out of her TV show. She even vowed not to watch her daughter's reality show, after feeling left out of such an important thing in Princess' life. Earlier this week, Katie shared a cryptic message saying "your mum is not your enemy". Sharing a quote on her Instagram stories, Katie urged that as a mum she is "not trying to control" but instead "trying to protect" The quote also acknowledged how she "may not be perfect" but is "the only woman in this world" who wants the best for her children.
