Emma Watson Is Banned From Driving for 6 Months After Speeding
Because she reportedly had nine points on her driver's license before speeding, she's facing the consequences nearly a year later. On Wednesday, July 16, she was ordered to pay a fine of £1,044 (or $1,396) and was banned from driving for six months at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court in the U.K.
Though she didn't attend the five-minute hearing, the BBC reports that her lawyer, Mark Haslam, relayed the message that Emma 'is in a position to pay the fine.'
The Bling Ring star has maintained a relatively low-key profile over the years, as she stepped back from the spotlight to pursue a higher education. On top of earning a degree in English Literature from Brown University in 2014, Emma is currently studying at Oxford University for a master's degree in Creative Writing.
While her last movie role was in Greta Gerwig's 2019 remake of Little Women, Emma has also made her directorial debut for Prada's Paradoxe fragrance campaign in August 2022.
'When Prada asked me to be the face of their new fragrance campaign, I asked if I could direct it,' she shared on Instagram at the time. 'Months later, and I'm able to share the results of the faith they shared in me, with all of you. I can't wait to share this piece of my art, and hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.'

'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson hit with 6-month driving ban in UK
Emma Watson was banned from driving in the United Kingdom for the next six months due to a speeding ticket she received in 2024. The "Harry Potter" star had been going 38 mph in a 30 mph zone when she was caught by a camera on July 31, 2024, according to the BBC. Watson already had nine points on her license when she received the citation, the outlet learned at a court hearing Wednesday. Watson was also fined nearly $1,400 for the citation. Fox News Digital reached out to Watson's representative for comment. The 35-year-old actress did not attend the hearing, the BBC reported. "She is in a position to pay the fine," her attorney said on her behalf at the hearing, which lasted five minutes. Watson has been living in Oxford, England while studying for a master's degree in creative writing. The movie star previously revealed she "felt a bit caged," which led her to take a step back from her acting career. "The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn't have very much control over," Watson told the Financial Times. "To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, 'How does this align with your viewpoint?' It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn't get to be involved in the process." "I started to realize that I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn't make me hate myself, 'Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better,'" Watson added. Watson first gained fame in 2001 at the age of 11 when she starred as Hermione Granger in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." She starred in the role until 2011, when the eighth and final film in the franchise was released. At the time, Watson was 21. Since then, she has starred in movies like "The Bling Ring," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "Beauty and the Beast" and most recently "Little Women." Watson directed and starred in her own film, "Prada Paradoxe," in 2022.

'Legend of Zelda' live-action movie finds its Zelda and Link
The live-action 'Legend of Zelda' movie has found its stars. Legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who's an executive producer on the film, announced Wednesday on X that Bo Bragason will portray Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link in Nintendo and Sony's film. Miyamoto created the hit video game series with Takashi Tezuka. British actor Bo Bragason is known for her roles in BBC One's 'Three Girls' and 'The Jetty,' as well as Disney+'s 'Renegade Nell' and the 2024 vampire comedy 'The Radleys.' Ainsworth, also from the U.K., voiced Pinocchio in Disney+'s live-action 'Pinocchio' in 2022 and played Miles in Netflix's 'The Haunting of Bly Manor.' He also stars in the Canadian series 'Son of a Critch' and the comedy 'Everything's Going to Be Great.' Read more: Mario's 'dad' Shigeru Miyamoto on 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' and watching his creation grow beyond him The actors' young ages — 21 and 16 — have sparked fan speculation that the film may draw from 'The Wind Waker' or 'Ocarina of Time' games, which feature Zelda and Link as teens. While initially slated for a March 2027 release, production delays have shifted the film's launch to May 7, 2027. The project is helmed by director Wes Ball, known for the 'Maze Runner' trilogy and 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.' A huge fan of the franchise, Ball told Entertainment Weekly in late 2023 that he wanted to create something more akin to 'a live-action Miyazaki' than 'The Lord of the Rings.' 'That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that,' he told EW about the renowned Japanese animator. Avi Arad is also producing the film. The adaptation marks Nintendo's second big-screen foray after 2023's mega-successful 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie.' The animated film grossed about $1.4 billion worldwide. The action-adventure video game franchise, released in 1986, follows young hero Link on his quests to rescue Princess Zelda and overcome the villain Ganon. Missions include navigating dungeons, solving puzzles and taking on an array of enemies. Celebrated for its innovative gameplay, installments of the popular game include 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' and 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.' In the years since, the franchise has expanded beyond video games and into other media like animated series and comic books, and now film.
