Two siblings found dead, missing father suspect

1 2 3 Vijayawada: Two children, were found dead in their home. Their father, who is suspected to have poisoned them, is currently missing. The man identified as Vemulawada Ravishankar was struggling with heavy financial debts. He reportedly wrote a suicide note indicating his intension to kill himself along with his children. The cops suspect that he fed pesticide-laced food to his son Leelasai (7), and daughter Lakshmi Hiranya (9) before locking the house and fleeing. According to Mylavaram sub-inspector (SI) K Sudhakar, Ravishankar worked at a hotel. He lived on Tiruvuru Road in Mylavaram with his two children. His wife Chandra Kala, left for employment in Bahrain a couple of months ago. The children were usually housed at a missionary hostel in G Konduru, where they studied in class three and five, respectively. They returned home for summer vacation. Ravishankar was living with his elderly parents, Lakshmipati and Anita, until recently. Due to ongoing family disputes, his parents moved out. However, his father visited his house regularly. On June 8, Lakshmipati arrived at Ravishankar's house but found it locked. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No Distractions. On Thursday, when Lakshmipati visited the house again, he saw Ravishankar's bicycle outside. While trying to move it to the verandah, he experienced a foul smell. He pulled a window curtain aside and was shocked to see the children lying motionless on a bed inside the room. He alerted police immediately. After inspecting the scene, the cops discovered a pesticide bottle on a stool in the verandah. Ravishankar was missing and his mobile phone was switched off. Lakshmipati told the police that his son was under severe financial stress due to multiple debts. Ravishankar reportedly stopped showing up at his workplace about a week prior to the incident. The missing man's letter allegedly read, "No one is responsible for my death, I have achieved nothing in my life. I am taking the children along with me. I am under heavy debt." Based on this note and other evidence, the cops suspected that first he killed the children, and then may have attempted to take his own life or fled the scene. They are also probing if he had borrowed money to send his wife abroad for work. His family members noted that though Ravishankar often mentioned being in debt, he never mention the total amount of debt and the reasons behind cops have launched a search operation to trace Ravishankar. A probe is underway. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Get real-time live updates on rescue operations and check full list of passengers onboard AI 171 .

Gangster Dhillon a ‘sub-node' of Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi gang to arrange foot soldiers: Cops

Chandigarh: Gurpreet Singh, alias Goldy Dhillon, who in a purported post on social media claimed responsibility for the two firing incidents in Surrey, Canada recently, has been operating as a "sub-node" of Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi gang to arrange foot soldiers for carrying out criminal activities, targeted attacks and extortions in Punjab, according to Punjab Police. Police said Dhillon, 35, a native of a village in Fatehgarh Sahib before he moved to Baba Deep Singh Colony, Rajpura in Patiala district, is currently residing in Germany and his wife in the UK. "Terrorists-gangsters like Goldy Brar rely heavily on gangsters like Goldy Dhillon for foot soldiers to carry out targeted attacks and extortions," said Patiala SSP Varun Sharma. "Dhillon is acting like a sub-node of Goldy Brar and has been providing foot soldiers for criminal activities, particularly in Mohali, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib districts," he added. Patiala police on June 7 arrested gangster Sunny Kumar alias Tari, who had 17 cases registered against him. Police said Tari had been working for the Goldy Dhillon gang for two years and was planning a "major crime" in Patiala. In recent months, police have arrested a number of operatives linked to Goldy Dhillon. In April, police claimed to have thwarted a possible terror attack by arresting two operatives of Dhillon, identified as Jagga Singh and Manjinder Singh (both residents of Fatehgarh Sahib). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo P olice recovered 2.8 kg improvised explosive device (IED) containing 1.6 kg RDX along with a remote control from their possession. Announcing their arrest last month in the Explosive Substances Act case, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said, "Goldy Dhillon has recently been involved in conspiring attacks and deadly attacks on the influential persons in the state and at present is working at the behest of Pakistan's ISI. " In Feb, police arrested a gangster, Malkiat Singh aka Maxi, and his accomplice Sandeep Singh aka Deep in an Arms Act case. Both, according to police, were also wanted in in an extortion case where they had targeted a Mohali-based property dealer, demanding Rs 50 lakh in January. Maxi, as per police, is an operative of Goldy Brar and Goldy Dhillon. In July last year, police arrested three operatives of Dhillon's gang Rahul Kumar aka Sopu, Navjot Singh aka Laddi and Jatin in an extortion case where Rahul and Navjot were allegedly tasked by Dhillon to target a Rajpura based builder/financer. Dhillon, along with Brar, who also allegedly orchestrated a firing incident for extortion at a businessman's residence in Chandigarh last year, is also in National Investigation Agency's wanted list, with the NIA announcing Rs 10 lakh reward on both in June last year. The Surrey-based man Satish Kumar at whose business by the assailants on June 7, told a media platform that he started getting ransom calls after May 28. He claimed that 2 million dollars were demanded from him in the continuous calls but he ignored them. He also claimed that the caller identified himself as Goldy Dhillon and also put out a post claiming the responsibility saying that he had personal enmity with Satish Kumar and his son Aman. Criminal Record Police records show Gurpreet Singh, alias Goldy Dhillon, has been booked in approximately a dozen cases between June 14, 2014, and April 11 this year. These cases, predominantly registered at Rajpura city police station, include charges of murder, attempt to murder, and violations of the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. He has been convicted in one case, acquitted in three (including a murder case), declared a proclaimed offender in at least three others (including an attempt to murder case), and remains at large in five cases. One of the cases where he is a proclaimed offender alleges he assaulted the woman he would later marry. MSID:: 121831775 413 | Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . AAP govt turns commission agent: Jakhar on land acquisition

Ludhiana: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar accused the AAP government of conspiring to usurp 25,000 acres of land in Ludhiana and said that the state government was playing the role of commission agent for big real estate houses. He also said that both chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal were acting as land aggregators. The AAP government is colluding with real estate dealers to illegally usurp prime agricultural land of Ludhiana by cheating farmers, Jakhar said, adding that BJP would not allow such nefarious designs to succeed. "On June 19, residents of Ludhiana will cast their vote against the move to illegally acquire their land. They will weed out AAP's corruption," Jakhar said while addressing a press conference with Union minister Ravneet Bittu and BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta. Alleging corruption in the last three and a half years of AAP government, Jakhar demanded a high court-monitored probe to ascertain if the money being collected from drug trade and other illegal activities was leading to politicians of any party. He said that the probe could include Punjab Vigilance, IT, ED and other agencies to ensure impartiality. Jakhar said that if tracking ill-gotten money through IT returns filed before the Election Commission were that simple, how would a former MP have Rs 200 crore in his house. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo He said that the money trail should be followed to track the beneficiary and sources of income of all political leaders should be probed. Hinting at large-scale corruption, he said that those running mobile repair shops before elections were now constructing mansions in posh areas. Replying to a media query, Jakhar said that by not acting against corrupt Congress leaders, the AAP government had betrayed people of Punjab. Earlier, Jakhar expressed grief over the tragic Air India plane crash which claimed the lives of 241 passengers, including the crew. He expressed sympathies with the bereaved and paid tributes to two-time former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who was one of the victims.
