‘Expand their backgrounds, their horizons, and their skill sets': STEAM Imagination Center opens in Decatur
The new STEAM Imagination Center in Decatur is a partnership between the Alabama Center for the Arts, Calhoun Community College, and Athens State University.
Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q brings home 13th first place title after Memphis in May competition
'We want to be able to provide employment for all our students,' said Senator Arthur Orr, who sponsored the bill that provided funding for the Center. 'This will give them an added dimension as they learn technology, computers, how to do art on computers, and, they can take that out into the workforce, get a good paying job and have a successful career.'
The STEAM Imagination Center will host several new programs and provide workspace for existing classes, including 3D modeling, additive manufacturing, and filmmaking.
Kimberly Parker, who serves as the executive director of the Alabama Center of the Arts and the dean of Fine Arts at Calhoun, said exposure to math, science and fine arts will help students down the road.
'We find that students learn as much from each other as they do from their instructors,' she said. 'We're hoping that the mix of different types of students will sort of start conversations that give them a chance to expand their backgrounds, their horizons, and their skill sets.'
The center will host its first semester of classes next week. Admission is also open to high school students with dual enrollment.

Justin Bieber Misses No. 1 As The Same Smash Blocks Him From Ruling
When Justin Bieber surprise-released his new album Swag, the focus track 'Daisies' immediately became a big hit. That single remains one of the pop superstar's most successful tunes in years, but it's not the only big win from the Grammy winner's latest project. 'Yukon' has been picking up steam for several weeks, and especially in the R&B space, the Swag tune has become a proper smash. 'Yukon' climbs on almost every Billboard chart on which it appears, and as it becomes another leader for Bieber on a handful of tallies, it just barely misses out on reaching the throne on a few other lists — but it could conquer them very soon. Justin Bieber Loses Out to Chris Brown Bieber lands at No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B Digital Song Sales charts this week. On the busier list, which includes R&B, hip-hop, and rap, 'Yukon' advances from No. 4 to No. 2, while on the R&B Digital Song Sales tally, the cut only needs to step up a single spot. In both instances, Bieber is held back by 'It Depends,' a collaboration between Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller, which keeps at No. 1. Justin Bieber's Two Sales No. 1s 'Yukon' almost gives Bieber his third No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, but for the moment, it's tied as one of his many No. 2s. Previously, he's run the show with his own 'Yummy,' which commanded the lead for just one frame, as well as with 'I'm the One' alongside DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne. That smash spent nine weeks at No. 1. Much More Successful on the R&B Digital Song Sales Chart Bieber is far more successful on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, which is specific to just that one genre. On that tally, he's already reached No. 1 nine times, and 'Yukon' could very well become his milestone tenth champion. In addition to 'Yummy,' Bieber has also led the charge on the R&B Digital Song Sales list with 'Essence' alongside Wizkid and Tems, 'Peaches' with Daniel Caesar and Giveon, 'No Brainer' (another collaboration with DJ Khaled and Chance the Rapper, as well as Quavo), 'Intentions' with Quavo, 'Confident' with Chance the Rapper, 'PYD' with R. Kelly, and both 'Bad Day' and 'Recovery,' solo tracks that hit No. 1 more than a decade ago. Justin Bieber's 'Yukon' Rises to No. 1 While 'Yukon' might not be the bestselling track in the R&B space, it is the biggest streaming success. Bieber's new single leads both the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and R&B Streaming Songs charts, advancing from No. 2 to give him another winner.

Buffalo Wild Wings is bringing back a popular football-themed special – and kicking it off with a new menu item, too. The national wing chain ended its Bottomless Apps deal, but that's made room for the Pick 6 special, which becomes available starting Wednesday, Aug. 20. The Pick 6 deal gets you your choice of two entrées, two sides and two fountain drinks, starting at $19.99. Entrée options include 10 Boneless Wings, the All-American Cheeseburger or 3 Crispy Chicken Dippers – and new Spicy Chicken Dippers. The newest addition to Buffalo Wild Wings' menu is white meat chicken marinated in Desert Heat dry rub, coated with a breading made with three different types of peppers and served with a new creamy and tangy B-Dubs Dip. McDonald's: Chain teases new BTS Happy Meal with TinyTAN toys. How to get it. Buffalo Wild Wings Pick 6 special and upgrades You can also upgrade your Pick 6 entrées, if you'd like. For $3, you can swap in a Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich or Beer Cheese Cheesesteak. For $5, you can upgrade an entrée to 10 Traditional Wings, a Triple-Bacon Cheeseburger or a Honey BBQ Chicken Salad. Choices of sides: Fries, Tots or Wedges. The chain offered the Pick 6 special during last year's football season – a Pick 6 is the name for an interception that's returned for a touchdown – as a shareable dine-in option for watching sports. 'With two entrées, two sides and two fountain drinks, it's the ideal meal for two,' said Tristan Meline, chief marketing officer at Buffalo Wild Wings, in a news release. 'Plus, our Spicy Chicken Dippers and B-Dubs Dip gives fans something new to try.' To promote the deal's arrival, Buffalo Wild Wings has new TV ads starring actress and comedian Heidi Gardner and rapper, actor and comedian Dave Burd, best known as Lil Dicky. The 'SNL' star, who's a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, imagines a future and family with the wing chain's mascot Hank (a buffalo with wings) in her TV spot. A fan of Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, Burd, who is the co-creator and star of FXX's 'Dave,' gets to hear Hank spit some raps about the Pick 6 deal. Both actors will appear in more Buffalo Wild Wings spots and social media videos during the upcoming season, the chain said in its news release. The Hilarious Reason Dakota Johnson Dropped Her Mic and Walked Off Stage
The Hilarious Reason Dakota Johnson Dropped Her Mic and Walked Off Stage originally appeared on Parade. The internet is buzzing over a spontaneous moment that captures 's unscripted charm. At a recent Los Angeles screening Q&A for her new film Splitsville, the actress delivered a playful mic-drop for the ages after a bombshell revelation from her co-star, Nicholas Braun. The cheeky exchange, captured in a now-trending TikTok video, shows Johnson's disbelief as Braun recounts how he learned a crucial magic trick for a scene.. The On-Screen Magic Trick That Wasn't During the Q&A, Braun, known for his role in HBO's Succession, innocently explained the card trick that impressed Johnson on set. "He taught me how to hide a card in my hand," Braun said, referring to co-star Kyle Marvin. Johnson, sporting a black leather maxi skirt and an oversized blazer, was visibly stunned, and sought immediate clarification. 'Nick. I thought — Wait, Kyle taught you this?' she asked, with a look of shock. Braun's reply—"Yes, he taught me the morning of shooting"—sent Johnson into a spiral of playful indignation. 'I hate this f—--g movie,' seemed to jokingly exclaim as she rose from her chair. The room erupted in laughter as she continued, 'I thought you did that, that you learned it.' Braun, unfazed, insisted he learned it "that morning." 'What?! I thought you had prepared that,' Johnson pressed. 'Not at all. No, we came up with it the night before,' Braun finally admitted. In mock disbelief, Johnson tried one last time: "No you had been doing it for weeks." When Braun firmly replied, "No I had not," Johnson, in true A-list style, slammed the microphone to the ground and walked off the stage, disappearing into the applauding audience. Fans React to Dakota Johnson's Mic-Drop Moment The reason for her "rage"? The perfect blend of celebrity dramatics and the relatable human emotion of 'Are you kidding me?' As one Reddit fan summarized, the mic-drop was a mix of "Oh he didn't prep as well as I thought he did" and "Wait he learned that in a single morning, I'm jealous!" The online community was quick to pick up on the comedy. One Reddit user commented, "If she was really mad she wouldn't be speaking into the microphone. It's an act. She's getting really good at it." Another added, "Dakota is a producer on this film, she's not just an actress has a comfort level in slamming the mic down as a joke." Get Ready for Splitsville: Release Date & Plot Details Splitsville, an "unromantic comedy" from director Michael Angelo Covino, follows the chaotic fallout of two couples whose friendship is tested when a husband from a divorcing couple sleeps with a wife from an open-marriage couple. The film is set for a limited release on August 22, before expanding to a wide release on September 5, 2025. Given the social media buzz already building, it's clear that Johnson and her co-stars know how to keep people engaged. If this Q&A is any indication, audiences are in for a wild, laugh-out-loud ride.
