The Express has reported that "some" Mustang Mach-E electric cars in the UK will be affected by the same issues.
It is unclear how many UK cars will be affected, as Ford will be in touch with relevant customers shortly.
The issue is believed to be a software problem that causes the electronic door latch to remain closed.
This occurs when the car's battery is low, leaving passengers at risk of being trapped in their car.

Drivers with Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021-2025 models should look out for the following warning displays which could indicate a fault.
The SYNC infotainment screen may display a "system off to save power" warning, or go blank when the power is in the "off" position
The inside release handle of the front door needs to be pulled further than normal to unlatch the door when exiting the vehicle.
It could pose a health risk to customers in an emergency situation, although no accidents or injuries have been reported so far.
However, several drivers have reported being locked out of their vehicles.
The recall is likely to be easily resolved through a free update for customers.

In the meantime, sales of the Mustang Mach-E have been halted at Ford dealerships until the software is updated.
Ford urgently recalls 273,000 cars over dangerous brake issue that could 'cause total failure' – two models are affected
Ford wrote to the National Highways Traffic Safety Administration in the US to warn of the imminent recall on June 23.
It affects up to 197,432 of the Mustang Mach-E cars in the US.
An NHTSA report stated: "Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles.

"In the event of low battery charge, the electronic door latches may remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door, possible trapping someone who is unable to use the inside door release handles, such as a child in the backseat."
They added: "Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C (SOBDMC) software."
The Mustang Mach-E is Ford's flagship EV model and was launched in 2021.
Its SUV version has a range of between 292 and 372 miles, depending on the trim.

The top-end models can also reach a top speed of 120mph, and go from zero to 62mph in 6.7 seconds.
It comes after another major carmaker recalled thousands of cars that may have a 'deadly' defect.
Owners of popular Citroën models - built between 2009 and 2019 - have been warned to stop driving their cars immediately.
Stellantis has told all owners of 2009-2019 Citroën Mk1 DS 3s and Mk2 Citroën C3s in the UK to stop driving their cars immediately.

This includes both the Citroën DS 3 and the later versions of the supermini - sold under the separate DS brand.
It followed the death of a driver after her Takata airbag in her 2014 Citroën C3 exploded.
French carmaker Citroën had already recalled the affected cars - replacing airbags in just under 70 per cent of the 690,000 vehicles.

The Explorer Joins Ford's Off-Road-Ready Tremor Lineup
The Toughest Option for the Family-Hauling SUV Ford trimmed the Explorer lineup in 2025, from eight variants to just four: Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum, effectively dropping the Timberline trim. The decision was aimed at simplifying production, streamlining inventory, and sharpening the Explorer's market identity. But while the new range covered versatility, sportiness, and luxury, something was missing: a truly rugged, trail-ready variant. That void is now filled with the arrival of the 2026 Ford Explorer Tremor. 0:05 / 0:09 2025 Ford Maverick: 4 reasons to love it, 2 reasons to think twice Watch More Joining the Tremor family, which includes the F-150, Expedition, Super Duty, and Maverick, the Explorer finally gains off-road credentials to match its adventurous name. Replacing the discontinued Timberline model, the Tremor marks a more focused approach to outdoor capability, packaged in a midsize SUV that's still built for family use. More than just a styling package, the new Tremor trim is a functional evolution of the Explorer designed for mud, rocks, and everything in between. Purpose-Built Design Visually, the 2026 Explorer Tremor sets itself apart with a tough new look anchored by 18-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. A signature Electric Spice accent highlights a wheel spoke and is mirrored on the front and rear tow hooks, adding a splash of color to its rugged stance. Ford also fitted auxiliary off-road lighting, and although it hasn't published the approach and departure angles, they've been improved for trail use. An off-road-tuned suspension with recalibrated springs and sway bars raises the ride height by an inch, giving the Tremor better ground clearance. Underbody protection at both ends shields vital components from trail hazards. Inside, the Tremor blends function with premium features. The cabin includes Ford's latest Digital Experience interface, standard Copilot 360 Assist 2.0, and optional BlueCruise 1.5 for hands-free highway driving. Other high-end amenities – like massaging front seats and a 14-speaker B&O sound system – remind drivers that off-roaders can still have creature comforts. Carlos Sainz won't run to be FIA president after all
Motorsport Rally legend confirms he won't stand for election, leaving no clear opponent to run against Ben Sulayem Skip 1 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Carlos Sainz has announced he won't enter the race to be elected FIA president after all, meaning controversial incumbent Muhammed Ben Sulayem still has no challenger with six months to go. *Slow clap* Sainz had made it known last month he was thinking about running, but has decided that the timing and what we'll loosely refer to as 'how things are at the moment' means his bid is just not a goer… for now. Advertisement - Page continues below 'I have worked hard these past months to understand in depth the situation at the FIA and the demands and complexities that come with such an important project,' said Sainz in a written statement. 'After a thoughtful reflection, I have come to the conclusion that the present circumstances are not ideal to set the grounds for my candidacy. 'Furthermore, I have realised that properly running for President would notably compromise my preparation for the Dakar and I do not wish to weaken my commitment to Ford and my team. These concerns have therefore inclined me to be realistic and desist from my FIA endeavour for now.' You might like Sainz is set for another tilt at the Dakar Rally with Ford in 2026, where he's targeting a fifth overall victory with what would be a record five different manufacturers. As for 'how things are at the moment', the FIA recently secured rule changes that – on the face of it – appear to make it easier for the sitting president to bar rival candidates on the grounds of 'professional integrity' and 'conflicts of interest'. Right. Advertisement - Page continues below Carlos Sainz Sr is of course the father of Williams driver Carlos Sainz Jr, and it doesn't take much to imagine that becoming a problem all of a sudden had the two-time WRC champion decided to stand. His karting company was also caught up in a racism row some years ago, although – how do we put this – controversies on the internet and in newspapers haven't been fatal to FIA presidents in the past. Get your parents to Google it, kids. No seriously, please get your parents to do it. The FIA presidential election is set to take place in December this year, with the winner securing a four-year term. Anyone out there of high moral calibre who fancies a go? Prime Video star Kaleb, 26, was pictured busily making calls from his Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck to try to help resolve the incident. Swimming pool engineer Paul Lowe, 53, from nearby Abingdon, told The Sun: 'I spotted him instantly and was a little bit starstruck as I'm a big fan of the show. 'The hedge cutter was on the back of a trailer pulled by a 4x4. I think it came round the corner and flew off. 'Hydraulic fluid was pumping out down the road and cars were skidding after driving through it. It was chaos and pretty dangerous. 'Kaleb was parked on the corner speaking with the driver and looked a bit worried. 'He probably had a lot of other jobs to get done and this only added to his hectic morning. It was just like watching the show live.' Famous farmhand Kaleb, beloved by fans for helping Clarkson on Diddly Squat, spotted the oil leak on his way to a nearby bailing job. The dad-of-two helped lift the busted hedge cutter off the road and called the police to alert them to the dangerous oil spill. A source said: 'Kaleb was on the way to a baling job nearby, came round the corner and realised the oil had just leaked all over the road. Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper suffers painful injury as he updates fans from A&E 'He acted quickly to avoid the spill causing a serious accident, by calling one of his team at his agricultural contracting business to come and help him lift the machine off the road. 'They contacted the police to come and make the road safe for other drivers." Thames Valley Police declined to comment. This comes after Kaleb earlier this month revealed he was in A&E after suffering a painful injury. The 26-year-old, who is Jeremy Clarkson's handy-man on the hit Amazon Prime series, was rushed to hospital following a game of football. Kaleb shared a video of his swollen ankle on his Instagram page, before revealing he had suffered a fracture. The farming contractor then showcased his leg clad in a black protective boot following an X-Ray, and simply commented: "Not good." Yet a video uploaded shortly afterwards offered more hope for Clarkson's Farm fans, showing the Diddly Squat Farm employee hobbling around in a checked shirt. Kaleb told the camera: 'I may be hobbling around as I've fractured my ankle, but I'll still be at the 3 Counties Show on the Sunday, setting up on the Thursday. "I'll be doing talks throughout the day, and Hawkestone Cider will be there. So, do pop along and say hello. I'm looking forward to it.' "Even though I may be hobbling around I'll be there - don't you worry! I'll be there." He then proved it was back to work as normal as he captured some hens in their coop. Kaleb rocketed to fame following the release of the show in 2021. And, the hit Prime Video series took home the entertainment gong at the latest TRIC Awards — right from under the noses of telly's biggest shows. The Sun columnist didn't pick up his award, but sent a video from Diddly Squat and said: 'I hope that the team have a fantastic night cos all of you deserve it.' His show beat Gavin & Stacey's finale — which was watched by 18million viewers — Ant and Dec's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Claudia Winkleman's The Traitors. Fans of the series, which has just dropped its fourth instalment, were left concerned Kaleb had been "replaced." It came after The Sun were the first to reveal the identity of the mystery blonde, new farmhand Harriet Cowan, after she appeared in the trailer. Harriet, 24, was selected by Jezza to take over the work of Kaleb after he was seemingly replaced on the show. Jeremy was left having to deal with all the goings-on at Diddly Squat Farm after Kaleb left him to head out on tour and pursue his media career. But fans were relieved to see Kaleb did return after a few episodes. and wouldn't be disappearing quite yet. Who is Clarkson's Farm star Kaleb Cooper? By Conor O'Brien Hailing from Chipping Norton, farmer Kaleb Cooper shot to fame by appearing in Prime Video series Clarkson's Farm. The hit show follows Jeremy Clarkson in his journey managing Diddly Squat Farm - which he'd owned since 2008. Born and bred in the area, Kaleb has become Jeremy's right-hand man and sort of farming mentor. Viewers have watched the pair light-heartedly 'clash' - with Kaleb usually ridiculing Jeremy's efforts. Three series have aired - with a fourth on the way - significantly raising Kaleb's public profile.
