'When You Join Chelsea...': Brazil Forward Joao Pedro Reveals Premier League Plans
Star Brazilian forward Joao Pedro has said that when one joins Chelsea, there is just one thing to think about, which is winning titles, as he gears up to play in the English top flight for the four-time Premier League winners with the first match scheduled against Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 17.
Pedro started for the first time in the semifinal of the Club World Cup last month since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion for a reported £60 million ($79 million), fresh from an off-season break.
Pedro went on to score in the CWC final and Chelsea fans would now wait for some great performances from the forward.
'Spending a long time in one league makes it easier for a player to adapt. For example, moving from my previous club to Chelsea is easier because it's the same league, just different players," Pedro said while speaking to JioHotstar.
'When you join Chelsea, there's only one thing to think about: winning titles. In every tournament you play, you represent Chelsea and the goal is to win. That is my ambition, to win titles with Chelsea," Pedro added.
New owners came in a few months after Chelsea won the Club World Cup in 2022 and the team has undergone major changes since, with Pedro just the latest face of many to arrive. Pedro comes from the state of São Paulo and started his career at Fluminense.
Brighton signed Pedro from second-tier Watford for an undisclosed fee in May 2023. He joined the Seagulls on a contract until June 2028, when the post-season transfer window opened, but ended it three years earlier to move to Chelsea.
Asked about the qualities he would bring to the club, Pedro said, 'I'm a very technical player. I love to score goals. When I was younger, I also played in midfield, so I could provide good passes to my teammates. Overall, I'd say I'm a quality, technical player."

Chelsea Premier League 2025 Full Schedule: Chelsea fixtures, match list, dates, timings, venues
Chelsea Premier League 2025 Full Schedule, Fixtures, Match List, Dates, Venue: Chelsea have had quite the time towards the end of last season, winning the UEFA Conference League and the Club World Cup, with the latter coming after they handed European champions PSG a sound thrashing. They have made eight additions to their squad this season and it looks like more could come. Even then, it is considerably less compared to the madcap splurge they have notoriously gone on in the recent past, leading to the dressing room not having enough space to fit the players. Chelsea's season starts with a match against Crystal Palace at home on Sunday. It was a rather incredible start that they made last season, losing just two of their first 16 games and becoming a surprise contender for the title against Liverpool. September was especially fruitful, with forward Cole Palmer winning player of the month and manager Enzo Marseca winning manager of the month. However, their campaign fizzed out somewhat after Boxing Day, starting with a shock defeat to cross-town minnows Fulham. It ended up becoming a struggle for top five. They ended up picking up pace around spring time and finished the season placed fourth. Over the course of it, Maresca managed to build a good base out of a bloated squad, establishing a possession-based game while emphasising good defensive principles. It led to goalscoring chances coming at a premium for both their opposition and themselves.

Manchester United Premier League 2025 Full Schedule: Man United fixtures, match list, dates, timings, venues
Manchester United Premier League 2025 Full Schedule, Fixtures, Match List, Dates, Venue: 20-time league champions Manchester United have fallen so far down their pedestal in recent times that whenever it comes to title races, their name is seldom heard. In the last decade, EPL fans have been conditioned to see title races featuring United's arch-rivals Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and even Chelsea but not the Red Devils. It got even worse last season when under new manager Ruben Amorim, who had to inherit a squad compiled by previous coach Erik ten Hag before he was sacked in the middle of the season, finished a lowly 15th in the league. They also ended their campaign with their lowest points tally in the Premier League era where they accumulated 42 points from their 38 games. This season, like every other season, has started with a little ray of hope with United completely overhauling their forward line, bringing in Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. They are also circling around Brighton's Carlos Baleba in order to strengthen their midfield. With United firmly in their transition era, fans will do well to lower their expectations. The first thing United will aim to do is finishing Top 4 and securing Champions League football for the next season. But that path is also strewn with dangers with Amorim's side set to face Arsenal, City and Chelsea in the first 5 fixtures.
