Manchester United Premier League 2025 Full Schedule: Man United fixtures, match list, dates, timings, venues

Manchester United Premier League 2025 Full Schedule, Fixtures, Match List, Dates, Venue: 20-time league champions Manchester United have fallen so far down their pedestal in recent times that whenever it comes to title races, their name is seldom heard. In the last decade, EPL fans have been conditioned to see title races featuring United's arch-rivals Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and even Chelsea but not the Red Devils.
It got even worse last season when under new manager Ruben Amorim, who had to inherit a squad compiled by previous coach Erik ten Hag before he was sacked in the middle of the season, finished a lowly 15th in the league. They also ended their campaign with their lowest points tally in the Premier League era where they accumulated 42 points from their 38 games.
This season, like every other season, has started with a little ray of hope with United completely overhauling their forward line, bringing in Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. They are also circling around Brighton's Carlos Baleba in order to strengthen their midfield.
With United firmly in their transition era, fans will do well to lower their expectations. The first thing United will aim to do is finishing Top 4 and securing Champions League football for the next season. But that path is also strewn with dangers with Amorim's side set to face Arsenal, City and Chelsea in the first 5 fixtures.

Marcus Rashford on Manchester United: ‘Different managers, different ideas, different strategies in order to win… you end up in no man's land'

He was once considered Manchester's crown jewel of the red side. A local lad, who broke through for the senior side with a couple of early match-winning performances while still a teenager. But as the years went on, Manchester United and Marcus Rashford couldn't quite make it work. Last year in the Premier League, he made a mid-season switch to Aston Villa on loan. And now, this summer, he became the first Englishman to sign for Barcelona in the last 40 years after the legendary Gary Lineker. He has joined on loan, with the Spanish giants having the option to buy. Incidentally, it is in an interview with Lineker for 'Rest Is Football', that Rashford has opened up on the state United find themselves in after the turmoil of recent years. The 27-year-old reckons that the many managerial changes have put the club in 'no man's land.' One of the most popular – and most successful clubs in world football – have struggled since the retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. 'People say we've been in a transition for years. To be in a transition, you have to start the transition. So it's like the actual transition's not started yet,' Rashford told Lineker and former England defender Micah Richards in a chat ahead of Barcelona's league season. 'To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. So this is the thing that I feel – it's not easy. Because if it's not going well, the fans demand [change]. But this is where I speak about being realistic with what your situation is. I feel like we've had that many different managers and different ideas and different strategies in order to win … you end up in the middle of – you end up in no man's land.' Rashford was frozen out of the United lineup after the arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon, the latest in a consistent churn of management at the club. United have not won the Premier League title since 2012-13, the last season of Ferguson's career before he retired, while Liverpool have now equalled their tally of 20 league titles. United's managerial carousel since Ferguson's exit has included David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag, with each bringing vastly different playing styles. 'When Ferguson was in charge, not only were there principles for the first team but they were for the whole academy,' Rashford said. 'They'd all understand the principles of playing the Man United way. Any team that's been successful over a period of time, they have principles that mean that any coach or player that comes in has to align to or add to the principles. Whereas at times I feel like United have just been: we're hungry to win, so we'll always try to adapt and to sign players that fit this system.' 'But it's reactionary. If your direction's always changing, you can't expect to be able to win the league. Yeah, you might win some cup tournaments, but it's because you do have a good coach and you do have good players and you have match winners in your team – you're not there by accident. We've been way below where we deem United to be. But then if you take a step back, which I've been able to do, especially over the last six months – what do you expect?' Barcelona are coming off one of its best seasons in years, having won the league, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. They also went deep in the Champions League, reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2019. In their second year under coach Hansi Flick, the Catalan club will try to add to its success from last season by boosting its squad with Rashford, who will be teaming up with Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski in an attacking front that was one of the best in Europe last season. It led the scoring charts both in the Spanish league – with more than 100 goals – and in the Champions League. (With AP and Reuters inputs)

Prithvi Shaw starts life post Mumbai exit with Maharashtra debut at Buchi Babu Invitational

Prithvi Shaw will make his debut for Maharashtra at the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Chennai set to be played from August 18 to September 9. This will be Shaw's first tournament for the side, having moved from Mumbai in July. Shaw is looking to reignite his career in top-level cricket after a torrid season last year in which he was dropped by Mumbai due to issues with his fitness and discipline. Ruturaj Gaikwad is also named in the squad, with the tournament marking the first time he plays any top-level cricket since suffering an elbow injury that had ruled him out halfway through the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It had resulted in MS Dhoni making a comeback into the role of Chennai Super Kings captain for the remainder of the season. However, Gaikwad and wicketkeeper Saurabh Nawale are expected to exit the squad after the first match, having been selected to play for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy. West Zone have received direct entry into the semi-finals and will play their first game on September 4. Shaw had been granted a no-objection certificate from Mumbai to change teams in June. 'At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer,' Shaw said in a statement. 'I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years.' Maharashtra Cricket president Rohit Pawar said Shaw's international and IPL experience would be valuable and the team would stand 'firmly behind Prithvi in his new journey' for the seasons ahead. Widely rated as one of the most exciting young talents in the world during his teenage years, Shaw's international career petered out after five Tests, six ODIs and a T20I, with his last match for India coming in July 2021. He remained prolific in the domestic scene for a couple of years after that as well before his sharp decline last season. Shaw has 4556 runs in 58 first-class appearances at 46.02, scoring 13 centuries and 18 half-centuries with a highesgt score of 379. In List-A games, he has 3399 runs at 55.72 and a strike-rate of 125.74. In T20s, his 2902 runs have come at a strike-rate of 151.54 and average of 25.01. He was unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Shaw was captain of the Indian team that won the 2018 Under-19 World Cup, with current Test captain Shubman Gill being the player of the tournament. Ankit Bawane (capt), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prithvi Shaw, Siddhesh Veer, Sachin Dhas, Arshin Kulkarni, Harshal Kate, Siddharth Mhatre, Saurabh Nawale (wk), Mandar Bhandari (wk), Ramakrishna Ghosh, Mukesh Choudhary, Pradeep Dadhe, Vicky Ostwal, Hitesh Walunj, Prashant Solanki, Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

Rebuilding time over, Premier League begins

Mumbai: The last time Liverpool FC defended their domestic crown was in 1984, well before England's top-flight First Division Football League had been rebranded as the Premier League. The team from Merseyside now has the opportunity of ending that 41-year wait for back-to-back league titles, as the new season of the marquee competition begins this Saturday. Liverpool's Mohamed Salah after winning the English Premier League title at Anfield in Liverpool in April. (AP) Liverpool, for whom the groundwork had been laid by former manager Jurgen Klopp, were led by Arne Slot in the 2024-25 season. The Dutchman hit the ground running as he helped the team win a joint-record 20th league title. But now the team that hopes to defend its crown for the first time in over four decades, will have to do so with a relatively new squad. But they are not the only team to break the bank in the summer transfer window. From the Big 6 of England to the newly promoted Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland, the 20 Premier League clubs have spent close to $2 billion - as of August 14 - to prepare their squads for the coming term. Liverpool, though, have spent the most, around €300 million. The club set a new British transfer record by paying Bayer Leverkusen $156 million for Florian Wirtz. Slot has brought in new full-backs in Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, along with French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. They replace Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold and temperamental forward Darwin Nunez, and will support the ageing, yet important, stars Mohamed Salah (now 33) and Virgil van Dijk (34). There are also talks going on with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak to join the Reds. In the history of the Premier League, only Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have defended their titles - the latter being four-time defending champions at the start of last season. Now Liverpool will hope to join that list. New challenge for Pep By Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola's high standards, the 2024-25 season, despite the team finishing third, was an utter failure. It was only the second time in Spaniard's managerial career that he finished a season without a major trophy. Crucially, in an interview with GQ magazine published earlier this month, Guardiola admitted that he is looking forward to taking a 15-year break once his time at City ends. But in November, he signed a new deal to keep him at the club till 2027. He hasn't been the most proactive during the summer transfer window, despite the club letting go of long-time talisman Kevin de Bruyne and former captain Kyle Walker. They do welcome the return of Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, who is back from a long-term injury. But in the Red side of Manchester, Ruben Amorin has been busy attempting another rebuild at United. The 20-time champions of England (record 13 in the Premier League) have not challenged for the title since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Last year, they slumped to a 15th place finish in a season where possible relegation did threaten. Only three teams last season - including the three that were relegated - scored fewer goals than United. It prompted a big shakeup. And the spending of over €200 million to bring in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to bolster the frontline. London calling Also looking to score more are Arsenal. Mikel Arteta's team have finished as runners-up three seasons in a row. Last year, with 14 draws - less than only Everton - the Gunners weren't firing in as many goals as they needed. So they spent big to bring in Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres to spearhead the team. The team also brought in Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Nørgaard to strengthen the midfield. In all, so far, the Gunners have spent over €200 million. As have cross-city rivals Chelsea. The London club blew away Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup in July. That event saw coach Enzo Maresca experiment with strategies, but put on a solid display of attacking football. So much so that at times, Chelsea's formation resembles a 3-2-5 when in attack. To shore up the forwardline are newcomers Liam Dilap and Joao Pedro. And while Chelsea did manage to win silverware in the build-up to this season, another London-club, Tottenham Hotspur lost the UEFA Cup to PSG on penalties on Thursday. Spurs, like United, had a forgetful domestic season. The North-London club finished 17th, just above the relegation zone. But in a remarkable twist, they managed to win the Europa League and will play in the Champions League this season. That win in Bilbao was the last competitive match in a Spurs shirt for talisman Hyeon-min Son. New manager Thomas Frank, in from Brentford, has been busy building up his new team, with Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United and Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich being the key signings. Joao Palhinha, a loanee from the German club can also be an important player for Spurs. English football, today, is a tale of three cities. But there will be interest in the way Newcastle United and Aston Villa show up - both teams earning a spot in European competition this year. And as this pre-season rebuild ends, the 34th Premier League season begins.
