IEX Q4FY25: Revenue rises 17% YoY to Rs 142 crore; profit surges 21% YoY to Rs 117 crore
Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (IEX) reported its highest-ever quarterly and annual performance, with strong growth in electricity volumes, renewable energy certificate (REC) trades, and profitability for the period ended 31 March 2025.
In the fourth quarter (Q4FY25), IEX recorded revenue of ₹174.6 crore, a 17% increase from ₹149.3 crore in the same period last year. Consolidated profit after tax for the quarter rose 21.1% year-on-year to ₹117.1 crore, compared to ₹96.7 crore in Q4FY24. On a standalone basis, Q4 profit was up 17.8% to ₹112 crore.
The exchange also achieved its highest ever quarterly traded electricity volume of 31.7 billion units (BU), representing an 18.1% year-on-year growth, alongside a record 68 lakh RECs traded during the quarter, up 108%.
For the full financial year FY25, IEX posted a consolidated revenue of ₹657.4 crore, an increase of 19.3% from ₹550.8 crore in FY24. Consolidated net profit surged 22.3% to ₹429.2 crore, compared to ₹350.8 crore a year ago. On a standalone basis, FY25 profit stood at ₹414.6 crore, up 21.4% year-on-year.
The board of directors announced a final dividend of ₹1.5 per share, equivalent to 150% of the face value.
On the sectoral front, India's power demand hit 1,694 BUs in FY25, rising 4.4% YoY, while coal production and dispatch to the power sector rose 5% and 5.9%, respectively. The average market clearing price in IEX's Day Ahead Market (DAM) stood at ₹4.47/unit in FY25, down 14.7% YoY from ₹5.24/unit due to a 36% increase in sell-side liquidity.
The company's gas platform, IGX, also posted its highest ever traded volume of 60 million MMBtu, growing 47% YoY. IGX's FY25 profit increased to ₹31 crore, up 34.3% YoY, while Q4FY25 profit doubled to ₹8.9 crore from ₹4.4 crore in Q4FY24.
IEX's subsidiary ICX, India's first accredited International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) issuer, also recorded exponential growth, issuing 59.27 lakh I-RECs and generating revenue of ₹3.41 crore in FY25, up from ₹32 lakh in FY24.

CLEVELAND (WJW) — One day later, Clevelanders are still reacting to the news of the possibility of the state helping to finance a new Browns stadium by borrowing $600 million of unclaimed funds, potentially your money. 'That $600 million giveaway that's a pocket picked of your taxpayer dollars they're picking your pocket,' County Executive Chris Ronayne said Tuesday. Just weeks ago, Ohio's top money managers made it easier for residents to be reunited with their lost or forgotten money, even beyond state lines. Cuyahoga County Treasurer Brad Cromes said the website will help disperse the state's current balance of $3.7 billion in unclaimed funds, to their true owners. 'The main circumstances that lead to unclaimed funds at the state level, are forgotten rent deposits, bank remainders that may not have been claimed or older insurance claims that weren't fully completed,' Cromes said. Restaurant owners, workers hold competing rallies over potential repeal of Initiative 82
WASHINGTON () — Wednesday, business owners and workers held competing rallies outside the Wilson Building, as the D.C. Council considers the fate of Initiative 82. Initiative 82 was passed in November of 2022 and implemented the following Spring. The voter backed law eliminates the tipped minimum wage by gradually raising wages over the next several years. But that law is now in question, as Mayor Muriel Bowser proposed repealing I-82 under her 2026 budget. 'The economy we're dealing with, the environment for restaurants is vastly different than the economy and the environment that restaurants were operating in when this ballot measure was advanced,' said Bowser back in May. It's a proposal some restaurant and bar owners support. 'It's been a pretty tremendous impact to our payroll,' said Diane Gross, co-owner of Cork Wine Bar and Market. 'With rising costs, federal workers losing their jobs, tariffs, it's all made it much, much harder to actually make any money in our business.' Gross said the impacts ultimately hit the employees. 'In order to make the numbers add up for us and to stay open we've had to cut jobs, we've had to cut hours, we've had to take employees off of certain shifts,' she said. She and others are calling on the Council to repeal I-82. 'We're hurting. This was not what was happening in 2022 when this passed, it's a totally new normal,' she said. DC Council votes to pause July 1 wage bump under Initiative 82 The plea from restaurant owners comes one day after the Council the next pay raise allocated under I-82. This, as they consider how to move forward all together. Alexis Zosel, a barista in Mount Pleasant, called any repeal a 'slap in the face' to workers. 'Respect the will of the voters. These are the same voters who voted you into office,' she said. Zosel said she's seen her pay increase as a result of I-82. Initially, she said her employer raised her pay from $9 an hour plus tips, to the full citywide minimum wage of about $17 an hour. To address the rise in costs, a service fee was instituted on all checks. However, she said that led to confusion and a drop in tips. Her employer ultimately removed the service charge and opted to raise menu prices. 'Since then, I've seen my wages raise 18%. People are tipping more and it's not confusing,' said Zosel. 'People are okay with paying the higher prices. I think they understand there's inflation, there's rising costs and labor and goods, things like that.' She also noted that I-82 has made her income more stable. 'Tips aren't secure. They vary by what position you might have. They vary by what restaurant you work in. There's discrimination,' she said. 'There's just a lot of things at play that can affect those things so just asking for the full minimum wage feels like the bare minimum.' The Council has had mixed reactions to both a pause and potential full repeal. Though Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George said there should be no confusion on what to do. 'I'm just incredibly frustrated that we are as a city, relitigating what has been litigated for the last couple of years again,' she said. 'The residents of this city have voted overwhelmingly twice that they believe that tipped workers deserve to have a minimum wage just like every other worker in the city.' She does not support a pause or repeal. 'The timeline has been known since this was enacted. We've known for two years, this July 1, this next increase was going to come,' said the councilmember. 'So I don't know why we need to pause while we're contemplating the budget of all things right now.' The Council will spend the next month debating the budget, which includes the repeal of I-82.
