Saudi Arabia - Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's new national airline, has signed 11 agreements with strategic partners to further innovate the air travel experience, at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE.
The partnerships are across a range of sales and distribution providers in over 125 countries. The completion of the memoranda of understanding (MoU) will enable Riyadh Air to boost its brand visibility while promoting its diverse range of flight services and products.
'These agreements reinforce Riyadh Air's determination to be a truly global airline and push the boundaries of travel for our guests,' said Osamah Alnuaiser – SVP, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Riyadh Air.
'Everyone wants to be a part of the Riyadh Air story, and we are carefully selecting companies and entities as partners that will join us on our journey towards our maiden flight and beyond.'
The deals are a strategic move by the airline aimed at significantly enhancing the carrier's offerings. The partnerships are with a variety of renowned organisations, including DNATA, Discover the World Momentum, Aviareps, and Satguru Representation Services.
The MoUs are designed to foster sustainable, prosperous, and mutually beneficial relationships that deliver exceptional travel experiences for customers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australasia, and Africa. By collaborating with these industry leaders, Riyadh Air aims to solidify its presence in international markets and ensure travellers enjoy Saudi Arabia's exceptional hospitality, Riyadh Air said.
An example of this is Riyadh Air's partnership with leading customer loyalty program, Loyalty Juggernaut. Under the deal, Juggernaut's next-generation program will deliver a personalised, seamless, and rewarding experience for travellers worldwide. The system is powered by the company's cloud-native GRAVTY platform and will feature real-time engagement, AI-driven personalization, expanded partnerships, dynamic earn and redemption opportunities, and a seamless mobile-first experience.
Riyadh Air has also partnered with some of the world's leading travel technology distributors during ATM. Agreements have been signed with Amadeus, Sabre, TPConnects, Verteil Technologies and Air Retailer. These technologies will enhance the airline's ability to showcase and distribute scalable modern retailing solutions. These partnerships will highlight dynamic pricing, and personalized travel offers from different global business touchpoints as part of the airline's digital vision and modern distribution strategy.
Riyadh Air is fully embracing the potential of these technologies to leverage tech solutions to create an innovative approach to content distribution. By taking this approach, Riyadh Air will be able to simplify the process for a global network of travel agents, corporate buyers, and customers, allowing them to access and sell all products and services seamlessly, thereby breaking away from the limitations of traditional channels, the airline said.
"By taking a win-win approach, Riyadh Air ensures that discerning customers can experience unparalleled Saudi hospitality when onboard, complemented by a tailored, real-time travel experience," it added. - TradeArabia News Service

Big-ticket events set the stage for tourism growth in the Middle East

According to the ATM Travel Trends report, 50% of industry experts consider leisure events as a key opportunity for the region's tourism growth Experts speaking at ATM 2025 discussed how global sports tournaments, cultural festivals and music events across the region are boosting tourism and economic growth Dubai, United Arab Emirates: 'Big-ticket' events are playing a pivotal role in driving international tourism and accelerating economic growth, according to experts speaking recently at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025. In the GCC alone, the event and exhibition market is expected to reach US$827 million by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 3.94%. Following the global success of mega-events such as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Expo 2020 Dubai, momentum is building across the region as Saudi Arabia prepares to host the 2034 World Cup. Discussing the evolution and impact of these events, panellists including H.E. Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; Sebastien Doussin, Senior Vice President - Global Travel Services & Destination Management. Dnata and Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), shared fascinating insights at ATM 2025, where the events industry was under the spotlight. The panel addressed how big-ticket events – so-called for their high value, cost and impact – have demonstrated their ability to attract millions of international visitors, boost hotel occupancy, stimulate infrastructure growth and generate long-term brand positioning for host destinations. Highlighting the importance of understanding the long-term strategic value of big-ticket events beyond immediate sales, H.E. Khalid Jassim Al Midfa commented: ' Big-ticket events provide a destination with an opportunity to establish brand positioning and exposure in a competitive global environment. These events play a vital role in supporting broader government objectives, but it is essential to invest in the right product for your destination.' Doussin reaffirmed the importance of large-scale events in destination positioning, referencing the growth of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the surge of international golfing tournaments throughout the UAE and the launch of NBA events in the capital. Commenting on the impact of technology on events, Doussin said: 'Technology has already changed big-ticket events, especially in terms of distribution and customer experience. All of the ticketing for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar was completely digital through the official event app, offering flexibility and ease of use. Ultimately, technology enables an event to become more seamless, easier and enjoyable.' Meanwhile, Hamid urged the industry to broaden the definition of big-ticket events to include exhibitions, conferences and cultural performances. He referenced Bangkok's weekly concerts, which are mainly K-pop driven, as examples of how live entertainment extends tourist stays. Supporting the panel's observations, the ATM Travel Trends report highlights the rising appeal of live entertainment and sports in influencing travel decisions. Leisure events were outlined as the top opportunity for tourism growth among 50% of industry experts, as consumer demand for in-person and cultural experiences has increased significantly in recent years. The trend of combining traditional leisure and business travel, or 'bleisure', has also accelerated as increased remote working and flexible working visas have enabled more people to live and work overseas. Building on this, business travellers are often extending their stays in destinations, creating a new opportunity in this rapidly expanding sector. The report also highlighted that business events (MICE) are emerging as a significant driver of tourism growth across the Middle East, complementing the region's thriving leisure sector. Global business travel reached a record US$1.4 trillion in 2024 and is projected to rise to US$2 trillion by 2030. The Middle East is well-positioned to capture a growing share of this lucrative market, increasing from approximately 2.5% in 2024 to over 3% by the end of the decade, supported by world-class infrastructure, a strategic location, and an expanding schedule of high-profile events. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, concluded: 'As big-ticket events continue to gain global prominence, their role in shaping the future of tourism, driving economic diversification and enhancing international reputation has never been more evident. The Middle East, with its strategic vision, world-class infrastructure and focus on innovation, is well-positioned to lead the next era of global event tourism.' Building on the success of its inaugural edition, IBTM@ATM will return to ATM 2026, which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 4-7 May 2026, with a dedicated zone within Hall 3, highlighting the show's strategic focus on the global business events sector. From 50°C to 5°C: UAE residents cool off in Iceland, Canada and beyond

As UAE temperatures peak around the 50°C mark, residents are increasingly trading the summer heat for the single-digit coolness of Iceland's waterfalls and Canada's alpine lakes. According to Expedia's latest travel insights, searches for Iceland have surged by more than 160 per cent year-on-year, while Alberta, Canada, saw a 90 per cent increase. Other destinations gaining traction include Scotland, Switzerland, and South Tyrol in Italy, all known for their cooler climates and nature-rich experiences. Global air and travel services provider dnata has seen similar travel trends. Matthew Vlemmiks, dnata's travel leisure manager, told Khaleej Times that recent sales data show 'a clear appetite for destinations that offer cooler climates and nature-based experiences.' 'Since May, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, South Africa, Iceland, and New Zealand have all ranked in our top 20 destinations for year-on-year growth,' Vlemmiks said. While Canada fits the trend, he noted it isn't in dnata's top five yet. 'UAE travellers are increasingly seeking out immersive seasonal experiences, dramatic scenery, and the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the outdoors,' he added. Not just for the wealthy Traditionally, long-haul cooler destinations like Iceland, Canada, and New Zealand have appealed to mid- to high-budget travelers, given longer flight times and higher on-ground costs. But Vlemmiks believes affordability is improving. 'There are ways to make these trips more accessible: Flight deals, competitive packages, and multi-destination itineraries,' he said. 'For example, travellers might combine a few days in Iceland or Switzerland with a stay in a nearby, more budget-friendly city.' A personal reset For some, the appeal goes beyond escaping the heat. Firas Al Msaddi, a Dubai-based entrepreneur, travelled to Iceland this summer with his family; not to cool off, but to reconnect. ' Dubai's summer doesn't bother me. It's a blessing to live in such an advanced and comfortable city,' he said. 'But if I travel in summer, I will never choose another hot destination.' Al Msaddi described Iceland's 5°C to 15°C weather as ideal for a spiritual and physical reset. 'We chose it for the slow, clean, safe environment where we could be fully present — running, hiking, horse riding, praying together five times a day.' 'Iceland is a premium destination, on par with the best of Europe in terms of cost, but what it delivers is far more valuable,' he said. 'Instead of hotels and shopping, we immerse fully in experiences: untouched landscapes, Icelandic horses, sky-high waterfalls.' For his family, the rhythm is now set. 'Our winters are in the Dubai desert with the kids; our summers are in Scandinavia, Norway and now Iceland. We'll keep returning for the same reason; it's the best investment in our family.'
