Marcus Keene punched the AfterShocks' ticket to the next round with a game-winning 3-pointer in his team's 66-63 win over the Forever Coogs.
Keene carried the offensive load for the AfterShocks, scoring a game-high 17 points. Ironically, Keene is not an alumnus of Wichita State like many of his teammates.

Best Virginia set for TBT semifinal showdown against Eberlein Drive
MORGANTOWN — Box out. Rebound. Run. That's been the strategy from Best Virginia head coach Jarrod West when it comes to the WVU's alumni team's semifinal run in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). What started with 61 teams – three No. 1 seeds received a first-round bye – is now down to four teams all playing for a $1 million winner-take-all prize. In Charleston, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Best Virginia hosts TBT mainstay Eberlein Drive. Two hours later, and about 1030 miles away, Aftershocks (Wichita State alumni) will host We Are D3. The winners will be a step closer to a nice payday for Sunday's title game. That title game could be inside the Charleston Coliseum with a Best Virginia win and a loss by the Aftershocks. The title game will be in Wichita, Kan. as long as the Aftershocks win its semifinal game. In the case that both Best Virginia and Aftershocks lose, the championship game will be played at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. OK, that's the technical stuff. Now, how does Best Virginia get there? Box out. Rebound. Run. And maybe add some pressure defense to that equation, too. 'That's been in our DNA since Day 1,' West said. 'Defense. Pressure. Adults in the room. These guys have bought in.' That's shown so far. In going 4-0, Best Virginia's opponents have combined to shoot just 39.8% from the field. No one has shot better than 43% and only Herd That – in the second round – was able to score more than 70 points. In beating Maryland alumni team Shell Shock in the quarterfinals, Best Virginia held Shell Shock to less than 30% shooting in taking a 32-24 halftime lead. Best Virginia never trailed in that 74-61 victory. 'That first half, our defense – I don't know what the percentages were – but our defense was very good,' West said. 'The only time they got a good shot was when we took a bad shot. When we set our defense, we're pretty good.' In Eberlein Drive, Best Virginia will face a program that's been here before. Eberlein Drive has played in every TBT since the tournament began in 2014 and the program made it as far as the championship game in 2018. The team is led by former Arizona standout Gabe York, who had 23 points in Eberlein Drive's 88-75 quarterfinal victory over Sideline Drive. He is averaging 19.5 points in TBT and has 14 3-pointers over his first four games. On the other side is Best Virginia guard James Reese, who has surpassed 20 points in each of his first four games. Reese, a former North Texas and South Carolina standout, had 24 points against Shell Shock and his 89 points over the four games is the third-most in the TBT this season. Report: The reason LeBron James met with Nikola Jokić's agent
A few days ago, Nikola Jokić's agent, Misko Raznatovic, posted a photo on his Instagram account of him meeting with LeBron James and Maverick Carter, James' business manager. It immediately led to some speculation regarding the intent of that meeting. Fans wondered if James was trying to recruit Jokic to the Los Angeles Lakers. After all, the Lakers are rumored to be planning on trying to acquire Jokic within the next couple of years and pair him with Luka Doncic. Some felt that perhaps James was planning to leave the Lakers next summer and sign with Jokic's Denver Nuggets. But Ben Horney, Daniel Roberts and Alex Schiffer of Front Office Sports gave a different explanation. According to them, the meeting had to do with a new basketball league Carter wants to start. "The mysterious boat meeting last week in France between LeBron James, his business partner Maverick Carter, and Nikola Jokić's European agent was about the planned international basketball league being spearheaded by Carter, multiple sources tell Front Office Sports. "The photo, posted to Instagram over the weekend by Jokić's European agent Miško Ražnatović, caused speculation about whether the trio was talking about James joining the Nuggets or Jokić joining the Lakers. "Sources familiar with the situation tell FOS it was not about the Nuggets or Lakers." ESPN reported in January that Carter intends to form an international basketball league that would rival the NBA. It would reportedly consist of six men's teams and six women's teams. The NBA has been the world's preeminent pro basketball league going back to its founding in the late 1940s. Over the decades, a few rival leagues had tried to compete with it, but they all failed. LeBron James and business partner reportedly meet with top European agent about new $5 billion basketball league
Sometimes, there's a lot more to an Instagram post than meets the eye, even when that post already contains LeBron James and the European agent of Nikola Jokić. A post from Miško Ražnatović, described by Eurohoops as the biggest agent in Europe, showed him meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers star and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter, with the caption, "The summer of 2025 is the perfect time to make big plans for the fall of 2026!" [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] There was plenty of speculation about what the post meant it popped up on Saturday (James to the Denver Nuggets?!), but Front Office Sports provided the explanation on Wednesday, reporting that the group was discussing a new international basketball league spearheaded by Carter. This international league has been in the works for months, with Bloomberg reporting in January that Carter was advising a group of investors seeking to raise $5 billion for a league that could rival the NBA. What would this new international basketball league look like? Per the Financial Times, investors include the Singaporean government, the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund and a Macau casino operator. The structure of the league would reportedly consist of six men's teams and six women's teams, touring across eight host cities around the world. Where it gets interesting is that the players will reportedly receive equity in the new league, but won't be able to continue competing in the NBA if they sign up. There are similar efforts to set up a new league in different sports. The Unrivaled league in women's basketball has also lured the world's top players with a promise of equity, in many cases multiplying their WNBA salaries, but still allows them to compete in the WNBA. In the other direction, LIV Golf tours internationally and has enticed many big names to leave the incumbent PGA Tour, but without any apparent promise of equity. It's possible some players negotiated a stake in the new tour, but they all appear to well-compensated regardless. Who would play in this league? The question now becomes what kind of players would sign up for the league. A $5 billion enterprise sounds big, but it would be competing with a league that just signed $76 billion in television rights deals if it goes after any NBA stars. That's where a meeting with Ražnatović and his European clients come in, as the future of basketball in Europe and elsewhere in the future is beginning to look like a three-way fight. In corner is the incumbent EuroLeague. In another would be the Carter-led international league. And rounding out the group is the NBA's stated plans of exploring a sort of NBA Europe with new teams on the continent. You would figure that combination raises the price of players around the world, perhaps even giving some older NBA players a bump a la LIV. James' exact involvement, either as an investor or player, remains to be seen. There is an enormous amount of stuff we don't know about these brewing leagues, but the amount of money shows just how serious this could get in a sports world where large cash reserves have proven very effective in tearing down the status quo.
