8 arrested in $500K Crown Royal whiskey heist in Windsor, police say
On the evening of May 9, Windsor police say individuals broke into a fenced-in facility in the 3300 block of Devon Drive in Windsor and stole a semi-tractor trailer that was loaded with more than 1,000 boxes of Crown Royal whiskey.
The trailer was later found abandoned the next day with the load of whiskey missing.
Crown Royal is distilled, bottled and blended in Canada.
Jason Greenwood, 46; Anthony Nelson, 57; Erica Nelson, 44; Justin Vachon, 27; William Girard, 49; and David Lombardi, 54, were previously arrested and charged in early June.
A seventh suspect, Michael Christopher Bernard, 45, turned himself in to Windsor police on July 10 and is charged with five counts of possession with property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime for trafficking over $5,000, conspiracy to commit an indictable offense and two counts of operation of a conveyance while prohibited.
An eighth suspect, Wilfred St. Jean, 42, was arrested on July 22 and charged with two counts of possession with property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime for trafficking over $5,000, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense.
To date, police have recovered 66 boxes of the stolen whiskey. The rest remains missing.

DoorDash driver held at gunpoint and carjacked in Methuen, police say
A quiet street in Methuen was at the center of a police investigation after detectives say a DoorDash delivery driver was held at gunpoint and carjacked. Officers and detectives responded to the carjacking Thursday morning at about 2:55 a.m. An man from Lawrence had his Subaru Forester carjacked at gunpoint on Coolidge and East Prospect Streets, police said. Neighbors said police asked them if they ordered fast food around 3 a.m., but they didn't. Police say that may have been the set up to get the delivery driver to the street. Except when the victim got there, armed robbers pulled a gun on him and took his car, leaving him and neighbors on the quiet street shaken. "A little bit scared, I don't like seeing stuff like that, I feel we're in a safe neighborhood," said a neighbor, Karen. "Hopefully the cops will keep an eye on our neighborhood more closely, maybe they need to these days." "I'm also thankful for the police officers that came by because they came by right away and they were helping him out and scouring the neighborhood looking for clues," added another neighbor, Paul. There were no reported injuries. Detectives later tracked down the stolen car, but there is no word on the suspects. Teacher admits to stabbing couple to death while they were hiking with their children in Arkansas, police say
A 28-year-old schoolteacher has admitted to killing a couple who were hiking with their two young daughters at a state park in Arkansas, authorities said Thursday. State Police arrested Andrew James McGann after a five-day manhunt and a flood of tips. He was found in Springdale, a city about a 40-minute drive from Devil's Den State Park, according to police. Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were found dead on Saturday on a walking trail at Devil's Den after what police are calling a 'completely random' attack. Their daughters, who are 7 and 9, were not hurt and are being cared for by family members, authorities have said. Arkansas State Police Colonel Mike Hagar said authorities are trying to determine a motive for the stabbing attack. During an interview with police, McGann admitted to killing the couple, Hagar said. DNA matching McGann's was found at the scene of the crime, Hager said, and a search of his residence allegedly turned up items 'consistent with being involved in this particular crime.' Here's what to know about the case: The Brinks had just arrived in Arkansas The Brinks had just moved from South Dakota to the small city of Prairie Grove in northwest Arkansas. Their water had been connected less than two weeks ago, Mayor David Faulk said. Clinton Brink had been scheduled to start a job as a milk delivery driver Monday in the nearby Fayetteville area, according to Hiland Dairy, his employer. Cristen Brink had been licensed as a nurse in Montana and South Dakota before moving to Arkansas. Officials said Clinton Brink was stabbed first. Cristen Brink ushered her children to safety before returning to help her husband. She was also stabbed to death. Authorities have not said if the girls witnessed their parents being killed. The Brink family said the couple died as 'heroes protecting their little girls.' Hagar said he was 'in awe' of the couple's children, noting that — despite their unspeakable loss — they've been assisting police with the investigation into their parents' murders. "The information that they were able to provide to start us down this path, to be able to make this arrest, it all started with those two little girls," he said. "It's incredible." According to Hagar, the Brinks have a third daughter who was not on the trail the day of the attack. McGann had just been hired as a teacher McGann was charged with two counts of capital murder and was being held without bond Thursday. Springdale Public Schools said it had hired McGann for the upcoming year but that he had not yet had contact with families or students. McGann was placed on administrative leave in spring 2023 while he was employed at Donald Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas, 'following concerns related to classroom management, professional judgment, and student favoritism,' according to a spokesperson for the Lewisville Independent School District. He resigned from the school in May 2023. McGann was also a teacher at a small Oklahoma school district starting in the summer of 2024 until May. Police received a flood of tips Police had urged those who were at the park on the same day to check their cameras for images that could help point to a suspect — and people responded. Their tips, photos and footage were instrumental in capturing McGann, police said. Police also released a composite sketch and a photo of a person of interest that showed him only from behind. Tips came in from as far away as Washington state, said Colonel Stacie Rhoads, commander of the state police's criminal investigation division. 'It was overwhelming,' she said. Rhoads told ABC News that while McGann allegedly took steps to conceal his identity, he was 'very sloppy.' Devil's Den is a 2,500-acre (1,000-hectare) state park near West Fork, about 140 miles (220 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock, the state capital. The park is known for its hiking trails and rock formations, and it is a short drive from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and Walmart's Bentonville headquarters. Man arrested after fiery 5-vehicle Gardiner crash in early July: police
A man has been arrested in connection with a fiery, five-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured several others earlier this month, Toronto police say. Police said they arrested a 26-year-old man from Caledon, Ont., after he turned himself in this week. He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. Just after 5:30 p.m. on July 8, police were called about a multi-vehicle collision on the Gardiner Expressway near Lower Jarvis Street, Toronto police said in a news release Thursday. Three of the five vehicles caught fire following the crash. One of the cars that became engulfed in flames also flipped on its side against a highway barrier, police said. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 68-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four people were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two others were treated by paramedics at the scene. The accused was scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday, police said.
