
Delhi-NCR wakes up to heavy rain, waterlogging in places, more showers likely
Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in parts of Delhi, including in North Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, South East Delhi and Central Delhi. Meanwhile a yellow alert has been issued in South West Delhi for heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning, as per the IMD website. Waterlogging was witnessed in Mathura Road following light rain, as well as Bharat Mandapam's Gate no. 7 was waterlogged after precipitation in the early hours of Saturday, ANI reported.
For the Delhi NCR area, a yellow alert has been issued in Ghaziabad and Gautambudhnagar for thunderstorms and lightning.
Overall, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with light rain and thundershowers. Maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover between 32-34 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will remain between 24-26 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the Met department on Saturday posted on their X handle informing of the expected rainfall, stating that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at most places of Delhi ,NCR . Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to occur at Gohana, Sonipat, Rohtak, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, and other places.
For Haryana, an orange alert has been issued in Palwal, Gurgaon, and Faridabad for moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, IMD has issued a fresh warning of continued rainfall activity in Himachal Pradesh, with heavy rain expected in many parts of the state over the next few days. The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for August 11 and 12 in three districts and a Yellow Alert for the remaining districts.

Seven Dead After Wall Collapses In Delhi's Jaitpur Amid Heavy Rain

Seven people, including two children, were killed on Saturday morning when a boundary wall collapsed in Jaitpur's Hari Nagar area of South East Delhi following heavy overnight rain. According to Delhi Police, the 100-foot-long wall fell on nearby jhuggies, trapping eight residents. They were pulled out from the debris and taken to the hospital, but seven succumbed to their injuries. The victims—three men, two women, and two girls—were living in makeshift huts on a vacant plot. Additional DCP (South East) Aishwarya Sharma said the wall was next to an old temple and a cluster of jhuggies occupied by scrap dealers. 'The wall collapsed due to the rain. Heavy rain lashes Delhi on Raksha Bandhan; waterlogging in several areas, more showers likely
NEW DELHI: The national capital was lashed by heavy rain overnight, causing waterlogging in several areas early in the morning of Raksha Bandhan, with more showers expected during the day. Early on Saturday morning, the India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for heavy rain with lightning and thunderstorms for parts of north, west, south, southeast, and Central Delhi, but later downgraded to a yellow alert, advising people to be aware. In the 24 hours till 8.30 am on Saturday, Delhi's primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 78.7 mm of rainfall, Pragati Maidan 100 mm, Lodhi Road 80 mm, Pusa 69 mm, and Palam 31.8 mm, according to data shared by the weather department. The downpour began late at 11 pm on Friday, lashing multiple parts of Delhi-NCR, including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, Kidwai Nagar, and several other areas. The temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, 3.2 notches below the average, while the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius.
