Seven people, including two children, were killed on Saturday morning when a boundary wall collapsed in Jaitpur's Hari Nagar area of South East Delhi following heavy overnight rain.
According to Delhi Police, the 100-foot-long wall fell on nearby jhuggies, trapping eight residents.
They were pulled out from the debris and taken to the hospital, but seven succumbed to their injuries.
The victims—three men, two women, and two girls—were living in makeshift huts on a vacant plot.
Additional DCP (South East) Aishwarya Sharma said the wall was next to an old temple and a cluster of jhuggies occupied by scrap dealers.
'The wall collapsed due to the rain. Rescue teams recovered the trapped residents and evacuated the remaining jhuggies to prevent further incidents," she said.

Delhi received heavy rainfall since early morning, causing severe waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas, including Vasant Kunj, R.K. Puram, Connaught Place, and Minto Bridge.
Traffic moved slowly near AIIMS and the Barapullah flyover, while Panchkuian Marg also reported flooding.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms with rain for Saturday, with a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius.
Rain is expected to continue in the capital until August 12.
Meanwhile, IMD issued an orange alert for three districts in Himachal Pradesh for August 11 and 12, and a yellow alert for the rest of the state.
Since June 20, Himachal has reported 202 monsoon-related deaths—108 from rain, floods, and landslides, and 94 from road accidents.
Rainfall this month is 35 per cent above normal, with districts like Solan, Kullu, and Kinnaur recording nearly double their usual average.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Many parts of Marathwada reported rainfall — after a brief hiatus -- in the past 48 hours until Saturday morning, offering benefits to kharif crops. The region received an average of 12.5mm of rainfall in the past 48-hours, taking the tally of the rainfall since June 1 to 321 mm. Official data showed that the the monsoon deficit for Marathwada has reduced to 15% after the latest showers. While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall in several parts of Marathwada for a few days. Beed, Hingoli, Latur, Dharashiv, Nanded and Parbhani received a yellow alert with chances of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy winds flowing at the speed of 30-40 km per hour. As per official data from the state agriculture department, Marathwada has over 47 lakh hectare of agricultural land under kharif sowing, of which 90% of area has witnessed sowing so far. Patel Parvez, a farmer from Beed district, said the monsoon run during the current kharif season was satisfactory so far despite considerable pauses. "As compared to many other parts of the state, Marathwada has received lower rainfall this season. The rain received so far have occurred after considerable gaps. This caused stress in crops at times. At present, kharif crops are growing well," he said. The disaster management department authorities have advised the public, especially from rural areas, to avoid shelter under trees and metal roofs during the rainy season in the wake of chances of lightning in parts of Marathwada. Delhi's official weather station at Safdarjung recorded 104.8 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday, pushing the cumulative rainfall this rainy season to 38% above normal. From June 1, the start of monsoon in Delhi, the city has received 509.22 mm of rainfall. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, the Capital saw rainfall in excess of 45% in June and 24% in July. Rain was recorded in Delhi on all days of July, except 20 and 21. However, the trend of excess rain in the national capital started in May, which is considered to be the peak of summer. The city recorded its wettest May this year since the weather department started record-keeping in 1901. The cumulative rainfall for the month touched 186.4 mm, surpassing the previous record of 165 mm set in May 2008, leading to a relatively milder summer and an extended monsoon. IMD data from 1971 to 2020 show that Delhi has received, on average, 640.4 mm of rainfall from June to September. In 2024, the rainfall was recorded at 1,029.9 mm, categorised as 'large excess'. Over the past 10 years, 2014 saw the driest spell, with 370.8 mm of rainfall, while the 2021 monsoon was the wettest, with 1,169.7 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile, the current spell of rain, which started on Friday night, also resulted in the Capital recording its coldest August day in at least 14 years on Saturday, with the maximum temperature settling at 26.4 degrees Celsius, 7.8 degrees below normal. The previous lowest daytime temperature for August was 27.9 degrees Celsius recorded in 2012. The IMD has forecast more rain on Sunday with 'partly cloudy skies and very light to light rain and thundershowers'.

Mahwa was followed by Tijara (Alwar) where 60mm of rainfall was recorded and 30mm of rainfall was recorded at several places in the state, including Todabhim (Karauli) and Jhalrapatan (Jhalawar).
