Strive Health Adds Chief Technology Officer and Chief Actuary to Leadership Team
'Tom and Amit bring valuable experience in healthcare technology, actuarial science and value-based care to our team,' said Chris Riopelle, Co-Founder and CEO of Strive. 'Their backgrounds are a great match for Strive's goals as we grow and work to improve outcomes for both our patients and customers.'
Tom Hawkes Hired as Chief Technology Officer
Hawkes is an experienced healthcare leader with nearly 20 years of expertise across the value-based care spectrum. As Chief Technology Officer, he will oversee Strive's technology strategy, innovation roadmap and IT infrastructure to support care delivery and business operations.
His previous roles include serving as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Product Officer at Caravan Health and Senior Vice President of Product at Signify Health, where Hawkes supported over 200 health systems and 1 million patients in Medicare Shared Savings Programs and Accountable Care Organizations. He played a key role in the acquisition of Caravan Health by Signify Health and the subsequent sale of Signify to CVS Health. Hawkes' experience also includes leadership positions at Kaiser Permanente, the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, The Queen's Health System and Queen's Clinically Integrated Physician Network.
'I'm excited to join Strive at this pivotal moment in healthcare transformation,' Hawkes said. 'I look forward to helping the team leverage technology to improve patient outcomes, reduce inefficiencies and advance value-based care.'
Amit Trivedi Joins as Chief Actuary
Trivedi brings nearly 30 years of experience in actuarial science, underwriting and medical economics — with expertise in Medicare Advantage, value-based contracts and population health strategy. As Chief Actuary, he will lead Strive's actuarial team, overseeing pricing, risk management and financial modeling to support the organization's value-based care programs and sustainable growth.
Prior to joining Strive, Trivedi served as Chief Actuary at several prominent healthcare organizations, including Beacon Health Options, Prospero Health, Landmark Health and Tomorrow Health. His background also includes leadership roles at Evolent Health and Oliver Wyman.
'Joining Strive represents an opportunity to apply actuarial science in innovative ways that positively impact healthcare outcomes,' Trivedi said. 'I look forward to working with this talented team to develop robust risk management strategies and pricing models that support sustainable growth so Strive can continue to transform kidney care for the better.'

Clover Health Investments Corp (CLOV) Q2 2025 Earnings Call Highlights: Surpassing Growth ...
Release Date: August 05, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Positive Points Clover Health Investments Corp (NASDAQ:CLOV) reported significant membership growth of over 30% year-over-year, surpassing industry averages. The company achieved sustained adjusted profitability in Medicare Advantage, demonstrating effective execution of its strategy. Clover Health's technology-first care model, including the Clover Assistant, has shown to improve health outcomes, such as reducing hospitalizations and readmissions for chronic diseases. The company is well-positioned for future growth with a four-star payment year in 2026, providing a financial tailwind. Clover Health is expanding its technology platform to other risk-bearing entities, showing broad interest and uptake, which could drive additional revenue streams. Negative Points Clover Health is experiencing elevated cost trends within its Medicare Advantage book, similar to broader industry pressures. The company is facing variability in modeling performance due to the new Part D IRA changes, which could impact financial results. There are elevated pockets of utilization within supplemental benefits and Part B, which negatively impacted results. The competitive landscape remains challenging, with national players pulling back in certain areas, potentially affecting market dynamics. Clover Health's insurance benefit expense ratio (BER) increased year-over-year, reflecting higher costs and impacting profitability. Q & A Highlights Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with CLOV. Q: The MCR BER came in above expectations. How much conservatism is embedded in your raised guidance on the BER, and how much visibility do you have into how that trend will develop in the back half of the year? A: The increase in the BER guidance for the full year is mostly related to Part D and supplemental benefits, particularly dental. We have initiatives in place to monitor this going forward, and we believe there will be some relief on the Part D pressure from the IRA as we move into 2026. - Peter Kuipers, CFO Q: What are the drivers for the improvements in your SG&A or adjusted SG&A? Are you holding back on hiring or finding new efficiencies within the model? A: The improvements are mostly due to cost efficiencies. We initiated a company-wide cost initiative to rationalize the price and volume terms with our partnership contracts. As we are growing above the industry, we are renegotiating terms with partners to reflect our effective partnership. - Peter Kuipers, CFO Q: What kind of response have you been getting from the COPD white paper, and are there plans to publish similar papers? A: We are proud of the papers we are publishing, including the recent COPD white paper. We plan to continue producing such material as it highlights the benefits of using Clover Assistant, which is correlated with better diagnosis management and care. These results are also used to promote our offerings in the counterpart context. - Andrew Toy, CEO Q: Is the elevated cost trend you're seeing more localized to newer cohorts, or is it broad-based? Are there any geographical differences? A: The cohorts in our tech-first model are performing as expected. We do not see a specific split between new and returning members regarding Part D and supplemental benefits. Returning members are improving from an MCR and BER perspective as expected. - Peter Kuipers, CFO Q: How are competitors approaching the upcoming AP, and are there any differences in the competitive landscape compared to last year? A: Many national players are pulling back, especially in the PPO wider network where they struggle to deploy their managed care capabilities. This is an area where we are strong due to our technology. We feel well-placed for the coming growth season, especially with the financial tailwind of a four-star payment year in 2026. - Andrew Toy, CEO For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Medicare Advantage offers better access, superior outcomes at a lower cost
More than half of people who are eligible for Medicare now choose Medicare Advantage plans because of the stable, affordable benefits and the quality, coordinated care these plans enable. [1] What's more, satisfaction among Medicare Advantage enrollees is exceptionally high, with 95% of MA beneficiaries satisfied with their health care coverage. [2] This successful program delivers real value to people while driving improvements in health quality and patient outcomes. Ultimately, the move from fee-for-service to value-based care, championed by Medicare Advantage, is a paradigm shift for a health system that historically pays for volume, not value. It has ushered in a new way of thinking about early detection and disease prevention. This shift directly challenges the status quo, which has relied on treating a constant influx of sick patients and is burdened with misaligned financial incentives. But UnitedHealthcare sees a different way forward — one that cares for patients before they are too sick for viable treatment and provides higher-quality care at a lower cost. Medicare Advantage drives affordability for plan members and helps reduce costs for the broader health system, with supporting data including: People enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans have saved 45% on premiums and out-of-pocket costs each year, which translates to an average savings of $2,200 annually compared to those in fee-for-service (FFS) Medicare. [3] In 2024, 75% of Medicare Advantage plans with Part D coverage, including those in UnitedHealthcare plans, paid no monthly premium. [4] Medicare Advantage beneficiaries are hospitalized less frequently, with a 43% lower rate of avoidable hospitalizations for any condition. [2] People with three or more chronic conditions who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage saved over $2,500 annually. [5] [2] About Medicare Advantage, Better Medicare Alliance Disclaimer Plans are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company or one of its affiliated companies, a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in the plan depends on the plan's contract renewal with Medicare.
