Venus Williams open to cosmetic surgery

Venus Williams is open to cosmetic surgery in the future. The 45-year-old tennis legend would "totally" go under the knife if she thought it would make her feel better about herself, though she insisted she wouldn't dramatically change her appearance. She told Britain's Marie Claire magazine: 'If I felt like I wanted to feel better about myself, and that's what made me feel better, I would totally do it. 'I would prefer to keep my look, you know. So many people are judging other people. But if it makes somebody feel good that's all that matters.' Venus is "excited" to be getting older at a time of echnological advancement in the beauty and health sectors. She said: "There's going to be so many amazing things that happen for skincare and ageing [in the] next 20 years, so I'm excited to be a part of it. And I'm so excited for what's gonna happen with me and my hip replacement... 'I feel young [for] my age, physically, but my knees have always been aged 80 since I was a kid. They've never been on my side. I've had to drag them along with me.' The Strive writer has always taken measures to look after her health and wellbeing. She said: 'I think wellness has gotten redefined these days, right? Now people are really talking about emotional wellness and mental health – all conversations that were just super-relevant to me. As an athlete… you have to take care of all that or else you're not gonna be able to play well. 'Taking care of my mental and physical health keeps me grounded, "Wellness has always been a top priority; real strength starts with listening to my body and giving it what it needs. I learned early on that mental health is just as important as physical fitness. "A consistent routine helps me stay focused, present and balanced every day. There are no limits to excellence – it's all in your mindset and what you're willing to put into it, mentally, physically and emotionally.' Venus is "fascinated" by fashion and loves attending runway shows, though she's taken "forever" to get her spending habits under control. She laughed: 'I love fashion, I really do. I used to always say I'm a recovering shopaholic, but I think I've finally recovered. It took forever. "I love watching the runway and the shows. I was watching Men's Fashion Week from afar, watching Pharrell [Williams' runway show for Louis Vuitton]. It's fun, it's fascinating, it's inspiring. I love it.'

Plans for 179-bed hotel, conference centre, restaurant and spa at Strive Club near Jersey Airport

Major plans for a new six-storey conference centre and spa near Jersey Airport have been submitted. The suggested development next to the current Strive Health Club on L'Avenue de la Reine Elizabeth II in St Peter includes a four or five-star hotel with up to 179 rooms, alongside a restaurant, café, three bars, a swimming pool and spa facilities. Up to 124 car parking spaces will be provided, with half under cover, and extra room for cycle parking - Strive's existing five-a-side football pitch will be removed. Sets of solar panels are also proposed within the car park and on the health club's roof, with intentions to plant extra trees and hedges across the site. The plans outline a third-floor balcony and terrace, a fifth-floor sky bar and a biodiverse sedum green roof. It is expected to take 21 months to build, with construction earmarked to start in late 2026 if permission is granted. Jersey's Island Bridging Plan states that developments of eight storeys or under can be supported outside of town if they meet various conditions, including being "appropriate to the townscape character of the area" and "not adversely affecting the locality in terms of microclimate, wind turbulence, overshadowing, noise, reflected glare, privacy and amenity of surrounding buildings". The applicant SDJ Limited writes in the Environmental Impact Statement that, "At the heart of the proposal is a vision to create a sports, leisure and cultural destination. "The site was selected due to its proximity to the Jersey Airport, enabling ease of access for leisure and business travel, including elite sports teams." No date has been set yet for when the planning application will be discussed.

Guilty Gear producer addresses sequel rumours, confirms no cancelled Strive follow-up in development

Guilty Gear Strive producer Ken Miyauchi has addressed recent rumours about a cancelled follow-up game, confirming during Evo 2025 that no such project was ever in development. Reports circulated in July 2025 that a sequel to Strive had been scrapped mid-development. Miyauchi responded during an interview, saying he had never heard of the project and that it likely never existed. 'It was just a rumour,' he explained. 'If I do not know about it, then it probably didn't exist in the first place.' Although he denied the rumour, Miyauchi admitted he was 'kind of sad' that no new Guilty Gear game was in the works and said he would be 'very happy to be involved' if one ever happens. Miyauchi also discussed the future of Strive, which is entering a new phase with Version 2.0. The update includes new characters such as Lucy, the franchise's first guest character, with two more on the way. He said the future of the game depends on how fans receive the next update. 'If we fail during this next update, then we might not have a chance,' he noted. He confirmed that the decision to develop a new Guilty Gear game ultimately rests with series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari. Miyauchi also mentioned that the team behind Strive is small, which has contributed to past update delays. Despite challenges, Miyauchi remains optimistic about the fighting game community's growth and says he's excited to see what other developers contribute to the genre.
