The Murray family were heart-broken when he revealed the devastating news on social media in November last year.
Murray previously described Rusty as his beloved and loyal companion along with his other Border Terrier, Maggie May, who sadly passed away two years earlier in 2022.
Writing on social media at the time, grieving Murray posted: "You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for.
"You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you.
"The house feels empty without you in it.
"The noise you made when you wanted a plate to lick, or a biscuit to chew on, or when you wanted anything for that matter, was infuriating at times!
"But today we would do anything to hear it again. Love you Ruzz, rest easy poppet x."
Fans flooded his Instagram page with messages of support following the tragic news as they expressed their sympathy for him and his family.
But this morning, Murray thankfully had some wonderful news to share with his followers as he uploaded pictures of him alongside his new pup.
He shared two snaps of the young pup - one of him sitting next to the dog and another of the canine relaxing in their family home.

Emma Raducanu adds Rafael Nadal's former coach Francis Roig to team full-time
Emma Raducanu has added Rafael Nadal's former coach Francis Roig to her team on a full-time basis ahead of this month's US Open, the PA news agency understands. The 2021 winner at Flushing Meadows has worked with British coach Mark Petchey on an informal basis since March and enjoyed a positive run of results. However, Petchey's TV commitments meant he was always unable to become Raducanu's full-time coach and after a trial with Roig following Wimbledon, the 22-year-old will begin work with him in Cincinnati this week after he agreed a contract until the end of 2025. Raducanu has struggled to settle with a coach in recent years until her part-time work with Petchey started to pay dividends earlier this season. WTA 1000 quarter-final showing at the Miami Open in March was followed by a round-of-16 run at the Italian Open before she made the last eight in the first women's tournament at Queen's Club. Aryna Sabalenka proved too strong for Raducanu in round three at Wimbledon, but this was backed up by a semi-final at the Citi Open as the British number one targets being seeded at the US Open later this month. TV commentator Petchey, who worked with Andy Murray at the start of his career, revealed in July that Raducanu would need to find a full-time coach soon and she has in Roig. Spanish coach Roig worked with Nadal alongside Nadal's uncle Toni for the majority of the 22-time grand slam champion's career and more recently was part of Matteo Berrettini's backroom staff. Raducanu will stay close to Petchey, PA understands, but turns her focus back to rising up the WTA rankings with a strong display at the Cincinnati Open over the next fortnight.

Love Island fans blast ‘awkward' change to series finale as they blame ITV cuts
LOVE Island viewers have blasted an "awkward" change to the show's format as the Islanders enjoyed their final evening in the villa. This year, after enjoying their final dinner together, the Islanders all remained seated as they delivered passionate speeches to one another about their time in the show and their romances with one another. 2 2 In an unusual move, the finalists did not stand up in front of one another to deliver their messages - which are akin to wedding vows. It left fans insisting the whole segment was "awkward" especially given that the major final dates were axed for this year's series. It has even seen some fans blame ITV budget cuts for the lack of dates and the "awkward" final scenes. Writing online, one Love Island viewer penned: "Love Island clearly spent their budget on blu's flights because why are there no real final dates and WHY are the final speeches so awkward???" Another added: "This is so f***ing awkward at least get them to stand up." Before a third echoed: "How awkward must it feel to sit and speak to you partner whilst everyone is looking at you in silence, I couldn't be on this show." This year's final four saw Angel and Ty, Shakira and Harry, Toni and Cach and Yasmin and Jamie vying to be crowned the winners as well as taking home the £50,000 prize. Later in the episode, the show was rocked by a double cheating shock. Tommy Bradley confessed to snogging the same girl as Ben Holborough behind Lucy Quinn's back. Tommy had been romancing Lucy after they left the villa but despite enjoying a few dates, it all crumbled when he enjoyed a smooch with another woman on a night out. Speaking to host Maya Jama on Love Island, hunky Tommy confessed his budding romance was over after his actions. Admitting he acted "disrespectfully", he told Maya how he "messed up" for going behind Lucy's back for the secret snog. But in another shock, it was later revealed that Tommy had kissed the same girl that Ben had also cheated on partner Andrada with. The Sun told how Ben had been pictured all over The Only Way Is Essex star Dani Imbert at a glitzy showbiz event with the pair reportedly going on to enjoy a series of snogs together. It is likely to spark speculation that Dani is also the woman in question in the middle of Tommy and Lucy's romance.
