Egypt's El-Sisi, Governor-General of Australia dicuss bilateral ties

Egypt Today27-04-2025
CAIRO – 27 April 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn at Al-Ittihadiya Palace on Sunday, and discussed with her the enhancement of bilateral ties. El-Sisi invited her to attend the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum due on July 3, 2025.
An official reception ceremony was held, the national anthems were played, and the Guard of Honor was inspected, said the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy.
An expanded session of talks between the countries' delegations was held, during which President El-Sisi welcomed Mostyn on her first visit to Egypt. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries, which reflects the profound historical bonds and longstanding relations the two sides share.
President El-Sisi states he values the positive contributions of the Egyptian community in Australia and their active role in building the Australian society. The president noted the remarkable success of Australians of Egyptian origin in an array of spheres, including the attainment of prominent positions, which demonstrates the solid relations between the two peoples.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the need to forge closer economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi highlighted Egypt's promising investment landscape, which could be a prime destination for Australian companies. Areas of cooperation include, in particular, the production of clean energy and green hydrogen, agriculture, tourism, technological industries and mining, as well as in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The president underscored Egypt's keenness on localizing the industries and boosting its productive capacity.
The meeting also focused on ways to strengthen collaboration in the area of food security, and the possibility of establishing joint projects for breeding and fattening livestock and related industries in Egypt. The two sides discussed mechanisms to facilitate the flow of Egyptian exports to Australian markets, and promote cooperation in culture, education, and tourism.
The governor-general of the Commonwealth of Australia agreed with the president with regard to the need to enhance Australian investments in Egypt. She stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation on cultural investment, notably in museums, given the high regard the Australian people have for the Egyptian culture.
The meeting also tackled the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest, primarily the situation in the Gaza Strip. The two sides reviewed Egypt's unrelenting efforts to achieve a ceasefire, an exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid into the sector. They strongly rejected the weaponization of starvation and its use as collective punishment against the Palestinian people.
Both sides emphasized the necessity of reconstructing the Gaza Strip in accordance with the relevant Arab-Islamic plan, stressing the imperative to advance toward the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy, as the only path to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
For her part, the governor-general of the Commonwealth of Australia affirmed her country's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and the strategic partnership with Egypt. She expressed appreciation for the momentum in the collaboration between the two countries and hoped this visit would further contribute to elevating the path of joint cooperation. Mostyn stressed Australia's full support for Egypt's diligent and tireless efforts to restore stability in the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President El-Sisi extended an invitation to the governor-general of Australia to join the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, an invitation that the Australian official welcomed.

Australia to recognise Palestinian state - War on Gaza

Australia will recognise a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Monday. "A two-state solution is humanity's best hope to break the cycle of violence in the Middle East and to bring an end to the conflict, suffering and starvation in Gaza," he told reporters in Canberra. "Until Israeli and Palestinian statehood is permanent, peace can only be temporary. "Australia will recognise the right of the Palestinian people to a state of their own. We will work with the international community to make this right a reality." The Israeli on Gaza has revived a global push for Palestinians to be given a state of their own. According to an AFP tally, at least 145 of the 193 UN members now recognise or plan to recognise a Palestinian state, including France, Canada and Britain. "There is a moment of opportunity here, and Australia will work with the international community to seize it," Albanese said. He said that Australia's decision was predicated on reassurances from the Palestinian Authority that there would be "no role for the terrorists of Hamas in any future Palestinian state". The Palestinian Authority, however, does not have a presence in Gaza, which has been governed by Hamas for nearly two decades. International concern is growing about the plight of the more than two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where the fighting has triggered a dire humanitarian crisis and warnings of mass starvation. Albanese further criticised the Israeli government on Monday, saying it continued to defy "international law and deny sufficient aid". As the global movement to recognise a Palestinian state grows, New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters said his country would carefully consider whether to do the same over the next month. He added that New Zealand's recognition of a Palestinian state was a "matter of when, not if". "The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is rightly at the forefront of the global agenda," he said. Israel's war on Gaza has killed at least 61,430 Palestinians. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Egypt Postpones Fuel Price Hike Until October

Taarek Refaat The Egyptian government has announced that current fuel prices will remain unchanged until October 2025, maintaining the same levels set in April, as part of efforts to ease financial burdens on citizens. The decision follows directives from Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, who emphasized the importance of supporting households during a period of continued economic challenges. The government previously postponed the scheduled July 2025 meeting of the Automatic Fuel Pricing Committee, extending the existing pricing policy for an additional three months. The move aims to prevent any potential fuel price increases in the third quarter of the year. Officials described the extension as part of a broader economic relief package, designed to mitigate the impact of inflation and maintain stability in basic commodity pricing. The fuel pricing mechanism, typically reviewed quarterly, adjusts prices in line with global oil markets and currency fluctuations. However, exceptional circumstances have led the government to freeze prices multiple times in recent years. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani
