Sydney Sweeney 'plans to launch lingerie line'

Perth Now15-07-2025
Sydney Sweeney is reportedly set to launch her own lingerie line.
The 27-year-old actress' latest business venture has received backing from Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his new wife, Lauren Sanchez, who have "invested" in new brand.
A source told Us Weekly that Sydney's new lingerie line is launching "very soon".
The blonde beauty - who has recently become one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood - has actually been working on the lingerie line for "for the last year" and it's now close to launching.
The insider explained: "This has been a huge project for her and something she's been working on for the last year."
Sydney has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, starring in TV shows such as Euphoria and The Handmaid's Tale, while she's also worked with a host of big-name brands, including Laneige and Frankies Bikinis.
The actress - who ended her engagement to Jonathan Davino earlier this year - has also been tipped to play a Bond girl in the next 007 movie, with director Denis Villeneuve reportedly keen to hire Sydney for his upcoming film.
A source recently told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond.
"Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise.
"They've hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise.
"Plus Sydney has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of the Bond girls."
Denis was unveiled as the director of the next Bond film last month and he vowed to "honour the tradition" of the character, who will be played by a new actor after Daniel Craig walked away from the movie franchise.
The filmmaker said in a statement: "Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr No with Sean Connery.
"To me, he's sacred territory. I intend to honour the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come."

SYDNEY FIREWORKS First up, to one of Australia's most beloved events - the Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks - that might not be so beloved anymore after a decision made by the North Sydney Council last night. Watching the New Year's fireworks in Sydney just got a little harder because last night, North Sydney Council councillors voted to make firework fans fork out $50 for entry into one of the night's most popular viewing spots: Blues Point. The council says that's because they're a bit strapped for cash and they're keen to use the estimated $400,000 they'll get from ticket sales to offset the cost of managing all those people! Entry fees to the display aren't anything new. Last year, nine of the 50 major vantage points had ticketed access. But the public area of Blues Point has always been free. The North Sydney Mayor says the change is a reluctant one and is stressing that currently it's only in effect for just this year. And the council has suggested other spots to camp out that are still free. WEBJET FINED Travel agency Webjet has been hit with a 9 million dollar fine! The company admitted that it failed to include compulsory fees in some of its advertised airfare costs, and provided misleading booking confirmations after it was taken to court by Australia's consumer watchdog. The ACCC began investigating the travel agency after a customer complained about an airfare which had been advertised as being 'from $18', but ended up costing triple that amount after a bunch of compulsory fees were added. CHESS KID Now it's time to meet 11-year-old Reyaansh. He's a rising Aussie chess star, who has big plans to make history as the country's youngest Grandmaster. ERNEST HEMINGWAY LOOKALIKES First up, to a room full of guys with white hair and thick white beards in the US. This is the annual Ernest Hemingway lookalike contest! And if you're not sure who that is, he's a famous author from the 20th century. This year, 131 contestants battled it out for the top spot. But in the end, it was Florida man Tim who took home the trophy, and had the honour of wearing this sweater. MOUNTAIN BIKING RECORD Now to Wales in the UK where 18-year-old Asa Vermette has made history as the youngest ever Hardline champion. He managed to complete the course in an impressive 2 minutes and 24 seconds, breaking the previous record by about 1.6 seconds. DOG SURFING And finally to surfing dogs in the UK who two world records have been smashed for the number of dogs taking part in the 50-metre paddleboard race, and the most dogs on this giant paddleboard.

From Gen Z to Millennials: Why audiences can't get enough of this summer romance streaming hit

At first glance, teen romance series The Summer I Turned Pretty is your fairly typical coming-of-age story. There's a gripping love triangle between its three photogenic leads. There's pining, heartbreak and many a first (kiss, boyfriend, love). Yet, the show has been nothing short of a global phenomenon. Now in its third and final season, it's Amazon Prime Video's most-watched TV show globally among women in the 18-to-35 age group. Its appeal is simple, says Jenny Han, who wrote the books on which the series is based and is creator of the TV series. 'It's aspirational,' she says. 'I think partly why people connect to it, too, is that many people have had a romance at the beach or felt strong feelings for somebody who maybe didn't return them and those things to me are across generations and time.' Han is in Sydney with two of the show's lead actors, Lola Tung (Isabel) and Rain Spencer (Taylor), as part of the streamer's Prime Book Club Live event, which is celebrating the success of several of the streamer's book-to-TV adaptations. The series follows Tung's Isabel (or 'Belly', as she is affectionately referred to), a young woman caught in a love triangle with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. Largely set against the pastel-hued backdrop of the boys' family's beach house, and scored heavily by hits from Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, it's a different breed of teen media to the more explicit portrayals of sex in shows such as Euphoria and Sex Education, which are heavy with grit and teen angst. Loading While The Summer I Turned Pretty is hardly short on drama, its take on adolescence is decidedly more saccharine. 'Fantasy is such a big part of reality now,' says Tung. 'Thinking about having a crush is fantasy, you know?' Han, a former children's librarian, wrote The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy between 2009 and 2011. Over a decade later, it was picked up by Amazon and the series quickly became a hit, particularly among Gen Z and Millennial women.
