Abbie Chatfield breaks down in tears, begs Clementine Ford to stop ‘trolling' her

7NEWS12-05-2025

Influencer Abbie Chatfield has broken down in tears, begging feminist Clementine Ford to stop making disparaging remarks about her amid their online stoush.
Chatfield, who rose to fame on TV's The Bachelor, had been trading barbs with the Adelaide-raised academic and writer.
In Ford's 'Dear Clementine' Substack blog, she recently called out Aussie influencers like Chatfield, who profit from being politically engaged, only to criticise people who challenge them.
But on Sunday, Chatfield said the fight had become too much and shared a clip of her weeping.
'I get it enough from people on the right and trolls and men that hate me and want to threaten me and want me dead. Please stop dehumanising me,' Chatfield said.
'Please, you can criticise my content you can criticise my work just I'm begging you to stop lying about my intentions.'
'Stop saying that I have a personality disorder. You don't know me.
'This is so f****ing triggering I just want her to stop.'
Chatfield asked Ford to stop discouraging her from posting about the war in Gaza.
She went on to label Ford's actions as 'trolling', saying it was affecting her mental health.
'I'm scared of her ... I am begging you to stop' Chatfield said.
'You don't know me at all, you're a stranger. I deal with so much, every single day. I deal with insults every single day, I do not need it from you because you know that when you say it you validate it for people on the left.
'You are f**ing my mental health. Please f***ing stop.'
Chatfield went on to show screenshots made by Ford, who called her an 'idiotic narcissist', 'completely shallow' and a 'deeply basic thinker'. Chatfield dubbed them 'insults'.
Ford is a well-known writer, who penned feminist titles, Fight Like a Girl, and Boys Will Be Boys.
Earlier in the day, the fracas appeared to be a bit more light-hearted between the two women.
Chatfield said in a separate clip: 'She's literally writing a burn book about me and doing insults like, 'she thinks she's so hot, what a weirdo, oh my god'.'
A Burn Book is a reference to the 2004 film Mean Girls, which shows Queen Bee Regina George write disparaging remarks about classmates in a book shared with her friendship group.
Chatfield finished by saying Ford needed to take a step back from the 'internet' and opinion-sharing platform, 'Reddit'.
''Clementine, take a step back from the internet. Take a step back from Reddit please,' Chatfield said.
The two have clashed since Chatfield's interview with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, whom Ford has said was a 'war criminal' due to his support for the war in Gaza.
'No amount of fake crying to try to launder her complicity in doing PR for genocide supporters like [Anthony Albanese] can change that' Ford posted on Threads.
Ford added: 'She is completely shallow and frequently unable to actually prosecute an argument she hasn't cobbled together from uncredited sound bites gleaned from other people.'
Chatfield, whose podcast, It's A Lot, has more than 400,000 listeners per month, interviewed Albanese, back in February.

Australian champion Jason Day steals the show at US Open with American flag attire: ‘Outfit of the day'

Jason Day might have some extra support at Oakmont at this week's US Open after playing a practice round bedecked a pair of red, white and blue American flag shorts. To complete the patriotic all-American look, the flamboyant Queenslander sported a quarter-zip jacket that featured a blue and white star-lined collar. The outfit set tongues wagging among fans with plenty of Americans on board. 'Who would have thought an Aussie would be the most patriotic looking dude at Oakmont??' one said. Another wrote: 'Looks like Jason Day wore his 4th of July swim trunks to practice this morning.' A proud Australian who made his long-awaited Olympic debut at Paris 2024, Day has also made a life in the US with American wife Ellie and their five children. He has made a habit of making fashion statements on the golf course in recent years. Even Aussie star Min Woo Lee poked fun at the American flag attire, sharing a selfie with Day in the background and a cheeky caption. 'What Open are we playing?' it asked, pointing to Day's shorts for the answer. The PGA Tour's social media accounts called it the 'outfit of the day'. Fans also jokingly highlighted Day was trying to increase his chances of winning the US Open, with Americans winning eight of the past 10. 'Jason Day odds to win US Open outright just skyrocketed,' one wrote. Another said he was gunning for a different ticket: 'He's vying for a captain's pick on the Ryder Cup (team).' Day is one of six Australians in the event, with their challenge to be led off by Adam Scott when the 125th US Open starts just outside Pittsburgh on Thursday. Scott will tee off at 7.18am local time (9.18pm AEST) alongside Sweden's Ludvig Aberg and Hideki Matsuyama, of Japan. The veteran's best finish was a tie for fourth in 2015, two shots adrift of winner Jordan Speith. Cam Smith, who also tied fourth in 2015, a finish he repeated in 2023, is another early starter paired with fellow former British Open winner Brian Harman and LIV Golf colleague Phil Mickelson, who still needs this major to complete a grand slam. Smith goes off at 8.02am (10.02pm AEST) from the 10th, just as Cam Davis is teeing off at the first. He is with American Davis Thompson and Thomas Detry of Belgium. Day, Min Woo Lee and Marc Leishman start in the afternoon. Lee is in one of the higher-profile groups with major winners Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka, who won the US Open in 2017 and 2018. Matt Vogt, a former Oakmont caddie who now works as a dentist, but qualified as an amateur last week, will hit the opening tee shot at at 6.45am local time. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau is grouped with two-time major winner Xander Schauffele and reigning US Amateur champion Jose Luis Ballester, who recently joined DeChambeau on the LIV Golf circuit. World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, winner of last month's PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, shares the tee box with two-time major winner and World No.4 Collin Morikawa and Norway's Viktor Hovland. World No.2 and 2025 Masters champ Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland will play with Ireland's Shane Lowry and England's Justin Rose. Rose (2013) and McIlroy (2011) are former US Open champions and Lowry tied for second in 2016 - the last time the event was held at Oakmont, when Dustin Johnson won. He is grouped with Spieth and 2021 champion Jon Rahm of Spain.

The candid photos depict a smiling Im cradling Rory with support from her young family. Speaking to The Women's Weekly, Im revealed that her youngest was born on the evening of Tuesday, June 3. She said it was three-year-old Harry who inspired his sibling's name, with one of his favourite books featuring a lion called Rory. 'When we were searching for names, we went through a bunch and none of them were sticking,' Im told the publication. 'And then my mum was like, 'Oh, well why don't you just call him Rory?' I thought, 'Oh, that's such a cute name'. So I guess Harry picked it in a way. Aussie singer Dami Im has given birth to her second child. Credit: Dami Im/IG / IG 'Rory looks very similar to Harry (at that age). So it feels like we're back on a time machine and experiencing it again. But then we can see the differences as well, little features that I guess only parents might notice.' Keen to keep the ball rolling on her music career, Im said she would be releasing new music in 2025. However, not before some well-earned rest and recovery in the comfort of their baby bubble. 'I have travel booked for July sometime, but I'm trying not to, like, fill it up too quickly like I did last time,' she said. 'There's travel and performances coming up and I'll be releasing my single in September. I want to ease back into it gently, rather than be 'I've got to get back'. I want to enjoy the moment.' The 36-year-old became a household household name in 2013, crowned winner of Australia's The X Factor before representing Australia in 2016's Eurovision Song Contest. Her second place finish in the competition stands as the best result the nation has achieved since its first entry in 2014. Members of Australian's music community have sent their love to the star, including Anthony Callea who said, 'Congratulations to you all 🥰Ax'. Fellow Eurovision alum Silia Kapsis, a Sydney-born singer who represented Cyprus in 2024, also reached out to the performer. 'Yay congratulations Dami and family 💙💙💙💙', she said.

‘Burn these pants': Queen Mary of Denmark makes rare fashion faux pas in bizarre culottes ensemble

Denmark's Queen Mary has made a rare fashion misstep after arriving to a major engagement in Copenhagen wearing a pair of linen culottes. Last week, Mary stepped out in a grey jacket and matching culottes by Danish designer Mark Kenly Domino Tan. The Hobart-native appeared to blend her Danish and Aussie identities by pairing the bold look with a woven two-tone belt by Aussie label Zimmerman. Mary, 53, completed the risk-taking look with light brown suede heels from Gianvito Rossi. The Aussie-born royal made the daring sartorial choice while attending – ironically - the Global Fashion Summit at Copenhagen's DR Concert Hall. Eagle-eyed fans quickly honed in on the awkward length of the culottes, as well as the unmissable wrinkles on the fussy material. 'Not one of her finest choices. Look at all the wrinkles in that material!" one royal watcher wrote via the Daily Mail. 'Queen Mary, burn these pants. Lovely jacket, lovely belt, but please, please, please burn the pants,' added a second style commenter. 'Missed the mark this time. Outfit makes her look stocky and crinkled,' said a third. 'The outfit looks too messy and wrinkled, and that mousy grey isn't helping either,' another fashion fan said. 'This was indeed rare miss for Mary.' Mary's bold look marked the second time she had worn the polarising culottes after previously debuting the pants during her recent state visit to France with King Frederik. In Paris, Mary paired the grey two-piece look with Aquazzura over-the-knee stiletto boots, a high neck black top and a delightful brooch pinned to the jacket. At the time, Vogue Scandinavia diplomatically called the culottes 'slightly edgier' than the popular royal's usual style.
