Was disappointed with lack of facilities on AI flight: Parmar
Gandhinagar: BJP leader Jayrajsinh Parmar, who travelled on the same ill-fated plane earlier this month from Gatwick in London to Ahmedabad, said that while the pilots were skilled, facilities like GPS, LCD screens, and intercom inside the plane were not functioning properly.
"Three or four days ago, I came to Ahmedabad from Gatwick on the same plane. During take-off and landing, I did not sense any weakness on the part of the pilots. But the facilities were not up to the mark, and there cannot be any difference of opinion on this," he said.
"The GPS system was not working, and the LCD or LED screen was also not functioning. The internal telecom system was also not there. The flight is a non-stop from Gatwick to Ahmedabad and is very popular among Gujaratis, as it is a direct flight to Ahmedabad. But I was disappointed by the lack of facilities in the plane," he added.

PMO Team Visits Air India Crash Site; Hospital Says Body Handover May Take 3-4 More Days
Last Updated: Sources told CNN-News18 that the team, led by PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will remain in Gujarat for two days. A senior delegation from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday to supervise relief and rescue efforts in the aftermath of the deadly crash of an Air India flight. Sources told CNN-News18 that the team, led by PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will remain in Gujarat for two days. The visit underscores the Centre's serious approach to the tragic incident, which has claimed hundreds of lives and prompted a massive emergency response. According to officials, the PMO delegation will hold key meetings with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Director General of Police, and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home). The discussions will centre around inter-agency coordination, ongoing rescue operations, and logistical support for victims' families. Body Handover In 3-4 Days State Emergency Commissioner Alok Pandey on Sunday said that the process of handing over all bodies of the victims to their families may take another three to four days. Meanwhile, authorities confirmed the identities of 47 victims from the plane crash through DNA matching, and have so far handed over 24 bodies to their families, officials said. 'A total of 47 plane crash victims have been identified so far through DNA matching. Of these, bodies of 24 victims have been handed over to the respective families. These deceased were from Rajasthan and different parts of Gujarat," Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajnish Patel told reporters. Further, they said that 22 death certificates have been issued so far, and the bodies have been handed over to the respective families. He added that 22 teams have been formed to assist the families with the insurance process to ensure they do not face financial difficulties. The London-bound AI 171 flight departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 pm on June 12, but within minutes, it crashed into a medical hostel, claiming hundreds of lives. Of the 242 people on board, only one survived after Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed into a student hostel near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday, losing altitude at 650 feet shortly after takeoff. BJP releases manifesto for Nilambur development
BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar released the party's election manifesto titled Vikasit Nilambur Ruparekha for the Nilambur Assembly byelection by handing over a copy to magician R.K. Malayath on Sunday. Mr. Chandrasekhar said that despite voting for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) for six decades, the people of Nilambur had not received any benefits of development. He said if organisations like the Jamat-e-Islami and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) gained strength, it would be disastrous for the region. The manifesto said that if party's candidate Mohan George was elected, the BJP would begin the construction work on the Nilambur-Mysuru railway line in seven months. The manifesto also promised to upgrade the district hospital to a cancer specialty centre and also to undertake the Kozhiode-Nilambur-Gudalur four-lane highway development. An AI-powered video of the Vikasit Nilambur Ruparekha was also released. Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) district president Girish Mekkad presided over the meeting. BJP leaders P.K. Vijayendra says Siddaramaiah, DKS are directly responsible for stampede that killed 11 people
Holding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar directly responsible for the death of 11 people in the stampede during RCB's victory celebrations in Bengaluru on June 4, BJP State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra dared Mr. Siddaramaiah to an open debate on the tragic incident. Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Saturday, Mr. Vijayendra said that the Chief Minister is directly responsible for the stampede. Though police officials suggested postponing the celebrations, due to pressure from Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar the programme was organised the same day, Mr. Vijayendra said. He said that power struggle and competition between the two leaders [Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar] to gain political mileage from RCB's victory resulted in the tragic incident that claimed 11 lives. Mr. Vijayendra dared Mr. Siddaramaiah for an open debate on the Bengaluru stampede incident and also on the Congress-led government's performance in the last two years in the State. Highlighting the achievements of BJP-led government at the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contributions in the last 11 years in office, Mr. Vijayendra said that under Modi's leadership, India has surged economically and technologically. It has been feulled by a series of landmark reforms and innovative initiatives, while the then UPA-led government was marred by several high-profile corruption scandals worth ₹12 lakh crore. 'The then Congress-led UPA government at the Centre emerged as a synonym of corruption,' he said. In the last 11 years, Mr. Modi has laid a strong foundation for a corruption-free India. Mr. Vijayendra said that there is no allegation of corruption against any Minister in the BJP-led government at the Centre while bribery is rampant in the Congress-led government in Karnataka. Replying to a question, Mr. Vijayendra said that the State government has set up an anti-communal task force to suppress Hindu activists and BJP workers.
