Jags' Cam Little kicks 70-yard field goal in preseason loss to Steelers
Little made the kick at the end of the first half at outdoor EverBank Stadium to close the Jaguars' deficit to 14-9 of what would be a 31-25 Steelers victory in the preseason opener for both teams.
"He wanted it, so we gave it to him," Jacksonville's first-year head coach Liam Coen said at halftime of choosing to attempt the kick.
The longest field goal in NFL history is 66 yards by Justin Tucker, then of the Baltimore Ravens against the host Detroit Lions on Sept. 26, 2021, at domed Ford Field.
"That was pretty cool for Cam," Coen said. "You wish that one would've gone in the record books."
Little finished 4-for-4 on kicks of 41, 40, 70 and 52 yards and 1-for-1 on extra points.
Jacksonville selected Little, who turns 22 on Aug. 17, in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Arkansas.
Little was 27-for-29 on field-goal attempts (93.1 percent) and made all 27 extra-point attempts as a rookie last season. His longest field goal was 59 yards, and he was 5 of 6 from 50 yards and longer.

August 12 - The Houston Texans placed tight end Brevin Jordan on injured reserve Tuesday, one day after he hurt his knee in practice. Multiple media reports noted that Jordan's injury is season ending. Jordan was injured after landing awkwardly in an unsuccessful attempt to reel in a seam pass from C.J. Stroud during an 11-on-11 drill during Monday's practice. Jordan initially was able to stand before falling back to the ground and grabbing his lower leg. He was then carted off the field. Houston has Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover atop its tight end depth chart. The Texans signed offensive tackle Conor McDermott to fill the roster spot on Tuesday. McDermott, 32, last played in 2023 with the New England Patriots. August 12 - Scottie Scheffler will have Mike Cromie on his bag at the BMW Championship this week with his traditional caddie, Ted Scott, still tending to a personal matter. Brad Payne, the PGA Tour's chaplain, stepped in for Scott on Sunday during the final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship after the latter departed Memphis for Louisiana to address the undisclosed personal matter. The world's top-ranked golfer, Scheffler finished T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, one shot out of a playoff that eventually was won by Justin Rose. Cromie has served as the caddie for six-time PGA Tour winner Chris Kirk. Fulton to return to Timberwolves for pre-season
