Andrew Schulz Announces New Netflix Comedy Special ‘Life'
Filmed during a record-setting run at New York's Beacon Theatre, the special is Schulz's second for Netflix, on the heels of Schulz Saves America, a four-parter in which he dissected the most controversial topics of 2020. In the special, directed by Troy Miller, which is billed as the comic's most personal yet, he offers a look at the hilarious and humbling journey of trying to start a family, breaking down the chaos of IVF like only he can. From pumping out samples to dodging emotional landmines, it's raw, real, and will make you grateful your swimmers (probably) work.

Exec producers on the special include Schulz, Dov Mamann, Mark Gagnon, and Miller. Dakota Films was the production company.
One of today's most popular comics, Schultz recently wrapped his sold-out global Life Tour, which included back-to-back sellouts at Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles' Kia Forum and Crypto.com Arena, two shows at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, and over 70 arenas and theaters across the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. In a bold move during his last tour, he bought back his most recent special, Infamous, from a major streamer after rejecting creative notes and distributed it independently. After amassing over 20 million views on YouTube, it became one of the platform's most-watched comedy specials, cementing Schulz as a pioneer in direct-to-fan content distribution. Prior to Schulz Saves America, Schulz also went directly to YouTube with his specials, 5:5:1 and 4:4:1.
In the podcast world, Schulz is known for his show Flagrant, which boasts 1.3 billion views on YouTube and has featured headline-grabbing guests like President Donald Trump, Joe Rogan, 50 Cent, Mr. Beast, Shane Gillis, and Jelly Roll. He also co-hosts The Brilliant Idiots podcast, blending comedy with cultural commentary, with Charlamagne tha God.
Schulz's recent TV and film credits include starring in Netflix's hit comedy series Tires, the Western drama The Thicket alongside Peter Dinklage, and Amazon MGM's football comedy The Underdoggs with Snoop Dogg. He also appeared in Netflix's You People with Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and 20th/Hulu's remake of the cult classic White Men Can't Jump with Jack Harlow. The comic is represented by CAA, manager Dov Mamann, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.

Why The U.S. Open Is Hosting A Reality TV Dating Show This Year
Love is in the air. And, on the courts of the U.S. Open. The upcoming Grand Slam tournament will host its own reality TV dating show, which will be shot on the grounds of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. Titled 'Game, Set, Matchmaker', the eight-part YouTube series will feature New York native Ilana Sedaka as the 'tennis-savvy bachelorette'. A former figure skater and Pilates instructor, the Miami-based 24-year-old will be matched with seven male participants and go on dates which include playing games and exploring the tennis center. The one-of-a-kind show, in which a contestant will be sent home at the end of each episode, will be filmed a week before the U.S. Open and stream on YouTube during the August 24 to September 7 tournament. The tournament organizers said the show 'fuses the emotional rollercoaster of a dating show with the electric energy of one of the world's biggest sporting events'. 'The U.S. Open has always been one of the most iconic sporting events in the country, and growing up just 30 minutes from Arthur Ashe Stadium, it was something I looked forward to every summer,' Sedaka said in a press release. 'To now be stepping into this experience at such a legendary venue feels surreal and incredibly special.' 'I'm coming in open to connection, ready to compete, and excited to be part of something bigger. My hope is to bring a little joy, a little chaos, and a whole lot of realness to the court.' The seven prospective suitors at the show include influencers, tennis super fans and social media personalities, who will participate in 'intimate dates' and games onsite, as Sedaka looks for her real-life doubles partner. With this show's concept, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) is trying to reach a wider audience, beyond the realm of tennis. 'We are trying to attract an entirely new audience, reaching fans at the intersection of tennis, pop culture and entertainment,' a spokesman for the association said in an emailed statement to The New York Times. The U.S. Open's new show follows in the footsteps of wildly popular reality dating shows like Love Island USA, Love Is Blind, and The Bachelor.

Hulu and Disney+ will be combined into one app, Disney says
Walt Disney Co. is integrating Hulu and Disney+ into one app, the entertainment company announced Wednesday. During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney would combine the two streaming services to create a "unified app experience" that will feature entertainment, news and sports. "This will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment kids, programming news and industry leading live sports content all in a single app," Iger said on the call. The new "unified Disney Plus and Hulu streaming app" will be available to consumers in 2026, the Disney CEO added. Disney did not immediately respond to CBS News' request for comment. Iger said the move would generate a "better consumer experience" and lead to "greater advertising revenue potential" by allowing the company to package ad sales together more efficiently. "I imagine down the road it may give us some price elasticity as well that we haven't had before," Iger noted. Disney also announced Wednesday the Aug. 21 debut of an "enhanced ESPN App" that can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for $29.99/month. The news came amid Disney's latest earnings report, which showed a boost in the entertainment company's profit thanks to new streaming subscribers and strong sales at its domestic theme parks. Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions totaled 183 million, up 2.6 million from the second quarter. Disney has run Hulu since 2019. Last month, the media powerhouse paid Comcast's NBCUniversal nearly $439 million to finalize its purchase of the streaming service.
