In a dominant performance on their home turf in Norman, the Sooners defeated Alabama 6-3 in Game 1 of the NCAA Norman Super Regional . With this win on May 23, Oklahoma is now just one victory away from reaching the Women's College World Series for the 18th time in program history.Alabama got off to a promising start with a solo home run from Bailey Dowling in the top of the first inning. 'That's the kind of intensity we need in the postseason.'Despite the early struggles, Alabama attempted a comeback in the sixth inning. They scored two runs to cut the lead to 6-3, but it wasn't enough. If they had a more favorable schedule, like Auburn's? I think I would probably pick them (as a CFP sleeper) right here," Klatt said. "But I can't, in good conscience, pick them with what their schedule is... They're not making this jump... I don't like it... While I think they can improve, I don't think they'll make enough of an improvement, as it relates to their schedule, which we don't talk about enough, to go to the playoff. " OU faces Michigan early, then battles through Texas, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina. Even a much-improved roster will struggle to navigate that slate.
