CHEERS star George Wendt has died at the age of 76.
Wendt was a key figure in the show from 1982 to 1993.

The star passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, TMZ reported.
His cause of death was not immediately released.
The actor's family released in a statement, 'George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him.
"He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time.'

EVERYBODY KNOWS HIS NAME
The death comes exactly 32 years after Cheers aired its final episode on May 20, 1993.
Fans know George for his role as Norm Peterson in all 275 episodes of Cheers, which aired for 11 seasons.
He earned six consecutive nominations for outstanding supporting actor at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
George told Chicago magazine in 2021 that at his Cheers audition, 'My friend Pat Finn always reminds me what the audition was for Cheers: I needed to look like a guy who wanted to have another beer.
'Norm is just me with better writing. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of actors who could have delivered on the absolute gems that I was handed on a silver platter every Wednesday morning.'
In his pilot, the only word he spoke was "beer."
George even earned his own spinoff when the beloved sitcom came to an end.
He starred on The George Wendt Show, which was canceled after just six episodes.

The short-lived CBS series followed bachelor brothers from Wisconsin who owned a garage and hosted a radio show.
He told The Los Angeles Times before the series premiered, "I don't want to be Norm forever."
REMEMBERING AN ICON
George also had small roles in Taxi, Soap, M*A*S*H, The Simpsons, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Goldbergs.
But George wasn't only known for his role on the small screen, as he also acted in a series of films.
Movies include Dreamscape, House, Fletch, The Little Rascals, Spice World, Airplane II: The Sequel, Alice in Wonderland, No Small Affair, Santa Buddies and more notable roles.
George started in sketch comedy improv before making it big in Hollywood.
He even hosted Saturday Night Live in 1991.
George also had stints on Broadway, as he played Edna Turnblad in Hairspray in 2007 and Santa in the musical Elf in 2010.
Most recently, he appeared on The Masked Singer in 2023.
PERSONAL LIFE
George was born in Chicago and attended Notre Dame before flunking out.
He worked at his father's real estate office in Chicago and graduated from Rockhurst College.
He married wife Bernadette Birkett in 1978.
She voiced his wife on Cheers, though she was never featured on the show.
They shared three children together, Hilary, Joe and Daniel.
He is also the uncle of actor Jason Sudeikis, who is the son of one of his six sisters.

New EastEnders feud ‘confirmed' as Cindy looks set to make a new enemy
Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has turned green with envy in EastEnders – and seemingly made a new enemy. The enemy is, of course, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), who has shacked up with Cindy's ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) over the last week. A potential new relationship is on the horizon for the former pub landlord in the wake of his separation from his current wife Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe). Nicola was holding interviews for a new bar manager at the nightclub, and in a bid to distract George from the drug dealing at Kojo Asare's (Dayo Koleosho) apartment, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) convinced his mum to bring him in. Upon arrival at Harry's Barn, he discovered that Nic' was actually searching for a bouncer, something which George wasn't interested in. She knew that she had to buy time, and after offering him a drink and having a heart to heart about recent events, seduced him! The two agreed to keep things strictly professional, but that clearly hasn't happened. In tonight's episode, he strolled down Turpin Road singing Boney M's Daddy Cool, apparently a tune he'd sing when he'd done the dirty with Elaine and Cindy. The women, who have formed a surprising new work relationship, clocked his humming and unusually cheery persona and made it their mission to work out who he was seeing. Elaine spoke with him in the pub, giving her blessing for him to move on – even if it did make her deeply uncomfortable. Cindy then arrived and saw red, noticing George cosying up to Nicola. A war of words broke out, and it became clear that Cindy was jealous to see another woman on George's arm. Is this his final chance at happiness, or are Cindy and Elaine about to put a stop to that? The two separated earlier this year, when she believed he'd been unfaithful at Christmas with his first wife Sabrina. His son Junior (Micah Balfour) dropped the revelation out of the blue, with no real motive to expose his father other than wanting Elaine to know what he'd done. She was enraged to hear that Sabrina had tried to kiss him, and George didn't exactly make things better when he turned to Cindy for a shoulder to cry on. Elaine contacted old mate Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton) for a pep talk, and when he told her to take consideration of her own self-worth, she made the brutal decision to sleep with a stranger she'd just met moments before. Guilt-ridden, she couldn't keep quiet any longer and confessed all to George. His attempts at making amends and apologising fell flat, as she wasn't willing to take half of the blame. In the aftermath, his world has dropped apart. Cindy – living in witness protection and using the name Rose – met George in Spain and they had daughters Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford) together. She walked out on their plush life to revisit Walford in 2014, where she watched her family from afar, grieving the death of first-born daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater). Who is George Clarke? Latest Strictly Come Dancing star's unexpected rise to fame
Some BBC viewers will be introduced to TikTok star George Clarke, who hosts the Useless Hotline with Max Balegde, for the first time when he competes on Strictly Come Dancing 2025 George Clarke will be competing on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing after being unveiled as part of the line-up this week. He's the sixth celebrity to be named as a contestant for this year's edition of the BBC show. The content creator, 25, also known as George Clarkey, said in a statement: "Never thought I'd say this … but I'm doing Strictly! Honestly, I've got no idea what I'm doing but I'm excited to get stuck in ... and potentially fall over a fair bit." George is best known for his work on social media and as the host of the Useless Hotline podcast, which has more than a 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. On his own, he has more than 2 million followers on his TikTok page alone. George's TikTok account dates back six years but he has spoken about how one particular series on his page in 2021 led to the biggest increase in followers. It showed him trying to figure out the cause of a "beeping noise" in his garage, with the first of those videos now having 2.4 million views. Speaking about the impact of it, he said in an interview for AwayDays that was released on YouTube earlier this year: "People for some reason just lapped it up." George said that he got 250,000 followers in a week from the first video. He shared that his parents had been prepared to support him, even before that success, whilst he pursued a career as a content creator after leaving university. He said: "At that point of my life, I don't really know what I was doing." George, who said that he hadn't shared his TikTok page with family initially, recalled his dad finding his account years ago. He said that they then had a conversation about it, which included him receiving the blessing of his parents over it. In the interview uploaded earlier this year, George said he was told that his parents had noticed he was "doing quite well" on TikTok and recalled his dad saying to him: "We'll happily support you if you keeps going up. Obviously if it starts to tail off you need to finish yourself a job." George said that he filmed the beep series some time after that. His content on the platform now ranges from comedy skits to promotional posts for brands. He also collaborates with fellow content creators like Arthur Hill, Isaac Smith, better known as ItalianBach, and ArthurTV's Arthur Frederick. Since his rise to fame on social media, George has ventured in the podcast industry. He's known for fronting the Useless Hotline with fellow TikTok star Max Balegde, with the pair co-hosting the podcast since it launched in 2022. George and Max address dilemmas, talk about their lives and interview celebrities on the podcast. Guests in episodes released in recent months having included comedian Katherine Ryan and Celebrity Big Brother 's JoJo Siwa. Earlier this year, George, who has 600,000 subscribers on his own YouTube channel, appeared on the second series of the competition Inside, launched by the Sidemen. The Netflix show invited content creators to take on a series of challenges.

Danielle Spencer dead: Legendary What's Happening child star dies aged 60
Former child star Danielle Spencer has died aged 60. The death of the actress, who was best known for her role on What's Happening!!, was confirmed by her friend and former co-star Haywood Nelson. Writing an emotional tribute on Instagram, Hawyood, who starred as Dwayne on the sitcom, said: "Dr. Dee, our brilliant, loving, positive, pragmatic warrior, without fail, has finally found her release from the clutches of this world and a body. We celebrate Danielle Spencer and her contributions as we regret to inform her departure and transition from a long battle with cancer. "We have lost a daughter, sister, family member, What's Happening!! cast member, veterinarian, animal rights proponent and healer, and cancer heroine. Our Shero. Danielle is loved. She will be missed in this form and forever embraced." Haywood later told TMZ Danielle died on Monday night in a Richmond, Virginia, hospital with her mum Cheryl and her jazz musician brother Jeremy Pelt by her side.
