Nocatee father speaks out after son injured by tire spikes
More victims are popping up after the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office discovered tire spikes in the Nocatee community.

13-year-old Aydan Hancin was seen lying face up on the ground after being thrown from his E-bike Wednesday when he hit a tire spike.
'He was literally out unconscious,' said Aydan's father, Michael Hancin.
Michael said one of the spikes went into his son's leg.
'and punctured his bone so he's got a bunch of infection inside the bone,' said Michael.
Aydan is now at home recovering with a foot cast and using crutches to get around.
But he's not the only victim.
Parents in the Nocatee community are concerned for their kids' safety after finding tire spikes near these bicycle paths at Crosswater Parkway and Bluewater Drive in Ponte Vedra.
'This is too dangerous. It can injure the children who are just walking, bikes, golf carts,' neighbor Beth Schlict said.
Hancin and other neighbors believe the spikes were placed intentionally around their neighborhood for one reason.
'They don't like bikes. they want to stop e-bikes,' Michael said.

Hancin wants the spike placements to stop.
'Someone is going to get hurt and unfortunately, it was my son,' Michael added.
To make matters worse for young Aydan, his father said someone shot and killed his pet goose last week — a goose he had rescued.
'and he was just about to leave the next day. But someone took it upon himself to shoot him three times and killed him.'

After all his son and family have been through, Hancin says he is still choosing forgiveness.
'I'm not pressing any charges against anybody. I have total forgiveness for you. Please just apologize to my son. We don't want no one else getting hurt. That's the big thing here,' Michael said.

The father said his son will have to go through multiple surgeries over the next year. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is aware of the spikes- they are working with community leaders to make sure nobody else uses them here.

Former NFL player Adam ‘Pacman' Jones arrested in Kentucky
Police in Kentucky arrested former NFL player Adam 'Pacman' Jones. Action News Jax's Ohio station, WHIO-TV, reports Jones was booked into the Kenton County Jail early Saturday morning. Jones, who is from Atlanta, faces charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct in the second degree and assault on a police officer in the third degree, according to the jail records. Police have not said what led to the charges. Advertisement This is at least the third arrest within the past two years for Jones, who has a history of legal issues. WHIO-TV reported Jones was arrested at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) in 2023 for alcohol intoxication, terroristic threatening, and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in December 2023. Arlington, Texas police arrested Jones back in November after officers said he got into a fight near AT&T Stadium after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match, the Athletic reported. Jones played 13 years in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. 'Much-loved' farmer Michael Gaine was 'kind and strong'
Mourners attending the funeral Mass of a County Kerry farmer, whose death is the subject of a murder inquiry, have heard he was a kind, strong man, who loved people, farming and animals. Michael Gaine, 56, had been missing for more than eight weeks when remains found on his farm, near Kenmare, were identified.. He was initially treated as a missing persons case before it was upgraded to a homicide. On Saturday the congregation was told by parish priest Fr George Hayes that the funeral was about recovering his dignity, as reported by Irish broadcaster RTÉ. "There were many questions but sometimes in life there were no answers," said Fr George Hayes. He said that the "dignity of Michael's life, and not the manner of Michael's death, that will abide in our hearts". Michael was someone who "loved much and was much loved," Fr Hayes said. In a tribute to his cousin, Eoghan Clarke, who spoke on behalf of the family said Mr Gaine was known for his "incredible work ethic, personality and humour, and was a loving son, sibling and uncle". He said Mr Gaine's "incredible" work ethic had been instilled in him by his parents. He said he and his wife Janice had a "truly beautiful relationship" and that they loved to be together, "from simple trips to the cinema in Killarney, visits to new restaurants, walks in the National Park, and adventurous holidays abroad". "Janice and Michael's sisters will know better than anyone that Michael had a soft, caring side. In Janice's own words, Michael was a true man. He was soft and loving, caring and affectionate, kind and considerate," said. "He was not afraid to show his emotions. He was also brave, fearless and strong. He was strong mentally and, as anyone who ever tried to follow him up the mountain in wellies will know, he was strong physically too". Mourners heard Mr Gaine was a keen rally driver. Over the past week his rallying friends had fixed up the Ford Escort Mark II he used to race and it was used to transport his ashes. Mr Gaine, a sheep and cattle farmer, was reported missing from his home near Kenmare on 21 March. He was last seen in the County Kerry town the previous day. He lived in the remote Carrig East area, close to the Molls Gap beauty spot, along the renowned Ring of Kerry. According to RTÉ, in-depth investigations by gardaí ruled out "innocent" explanations, such as a medical event, an accident, or that he left the area voluntarily. A missing person's investigation operates on the basis of consent, but when gardaí announced the re-classification of their investigation, it meant the range of options in front of the investigation team significantly increased. They could then get search warrants, clear areas of interest and seize and examine certain items like phones and laptops. Human tissue found in fields and in the farmyard at Mr Gaine's farm on 16 May was later confirmed to be his. His death is being treated as murder. A man in his 50s, who was arrested last Sunday on suspicion of Mr Gaine's murder, was later released without charge. He has denied any involvement in the farmer's disappearance. Jacksonville LGBTQ+ advocate ‘disgusted' by local Republican club Facebook post
LGBTQ+ advocates respond with outrage after a Facebook post from a local Republican group appeared to tie Pride Month to notorious criminals, including serial killers and sex offenders. The post, shared by the Mandarin Republican Club, included the caption: 'Happy Pride Month. So glad our Acosta Bridge was lit in their honor.' Below were images of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky, and a Georgia couple convicted of sexually assaulting their children. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Also included in the post was a photo of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan with Andrew Gillum, a former Florida gubernatorial candidate who was involved in a sex scandal but never faced any criminal charges. LGBTQ+ community leader James Eddy called the post offensive and hateful. 'In this day and age, people on Facebook feel like they can put anything,' Eddy said. That protest was in response to a state ban on lighting public structures in specific colors, which LGBTQ+ advocates believe targets Pride celebrations. As of now, it is still unclear who within the Mandarin Republican Club was responsible for the post.
