Some good petrol price news for South Africa's motorists
The latest petrol and diesel price projections show that there could be some good news for South Africa's motorists at the pumps early next month. Both the petrol and diesel prices are set to drop – should market conditions remain the same for the next three weeks. In recent days the rand has strengthened against the dollar while the brent crude price has dropped – a perfect recipe for good news for motorists. Below, the latest projections as received by The South African website from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), effective Monday, 11 August. FUEL PRICE CHANGE Petrol 93 decrease of 12 cents Petrol 95 decrease of 6 cents Diesel 0.05% decrease of 10 cents Diesel 0.005% decrease of 12 cents Illuminating Paraffin decrease of 8 cents If the market conditions were to remain consistent for the remainder of the month – an unlikely scenario with the rand/dollar exchange rate fluctuating and the oil price ever changing – a decrease of 12 cents is expected for petrol 93 octane motorists and a decrease of six cents for 95 users. Meanwhile, diesel motorists would see something between a 10 and 12 cents per litre decrease. Finally, illuminating paraffin is expected to drop by eight cents in price. FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS: 1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices 2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products Oil price At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $66.85 a barrel. Exchange rate At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R17.70/$. The final overall price changes for both petrol and diesel will be confirmed early next month with the new prices taking effect at midnight on Tuesday, 2 September 2025. Go easy on the accelerator until then, Mzansi. Nelson Mandela Children's Fund received 19 Ford Motor Company Africa vehicles
Ford Motor Company Africa's partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund will ensure that the fund enables every child to reach their full potential and make their dreams come true with the 19 vehicles donated. Speaking at Saxonwold on July 31, Ford Motor Company Africa President Neale Hill said he was happy to be part of the fund's 30th anniversary milestone. Read more: Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund receives R11 000 for Mandela Day 'For three decades, the fund has been a beacon of hope, dignity and opportunity for children and youth across the country. As a brand that recently celebrated 100 years in South Africa, and 120 years globally, Ford Motor Company understands the importance of legacy, giving back and creating meaningful, lasting impact.' Hill added that the motor company believed in supporting projects that made a lasting difference. For the motor company, this was not a corporate social responsibility programme but a lasting commitment that made a difference in people's lives and, in this case, the most vulnerable in our society, our children. This initiative is a practical demonstration of Ford's global purpose to build a better world where every person is free to move to pursue their dreams. The fund's CEO, Dr Linda Ncube-Nkomo, said Ford Motor Company Africa had always been a helping hand. 'In April, we hosted a first-of-its-kind event in SA and the second one on the continent, the Pan African Children Summit. It saw 275 children delegates come to SA from 15 countries, the theme was 'To be seen, heard and engaged in education'. Ford was a critical partner in this event by providing cars to transport the children and truly living up to their purpose.' Hill noted that July 31 marked a symbolic handover of 19 vehicles that have been purposefully selected and, in some cases, specially converted for the fund's core programmes. 'This fleet includes four of our transits, three of which have been adapted into a mobile clinic, a mobile workshop and a delivery van for sustainable livelihood initiatives. These vehicles will be loaned to the fund for three years with full ownership being transferred as a donation at the end of this period.' Hill concluded that these were more than vehicles; they were enablers of care, safety, economic upliftment and opportunity. The vehicles would help the fund reach more communities effectively with greater impact. Follow us on our Whatsapp channel, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok for the latest updates and inspiration!
