Motorcyclist, 23, is Kauai's 1st traffic fatality in 2025
Kauai police say a 23-year-old man has died after suffering fatal injuries following a solo motorcycle crash Sunday night in Lihue.
Police said at about 11 p.m. Sunday, the man was heading eastbound on Kaumualii Highway on a 2008 Honda motorcycle when he lost control and crashed near Hoomana Road.
First responders arrived on the scene and found good Samaritans administering CPR to the man, who has no permanent address. He was taken to Wilcox Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police closed both directions of the highway for about two hours for an on-scene investigation.
Police said speed and weather conditions appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Motorcycle race leads to deadly crash in northwest Las Vegas valley
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A motorcyclist is dead after he crashed while racing another motorcyclist in the northwest Las Vegas valley. It happened around 9:30 p.m. on June 8, near the eastbound off-ramp at North Buffalo Drive and State Route 613, according to the Nevada State Police. Police said two motorcyclists were racing at high speeds and weaving through traffic when one of them, riding a multi-colored 2012 Honda, crashed into the rear passenger side of a light blue 2022 Honda Civic. The impact caused the motorcycle to get entangled in the right rear tire, which tore the motorcycle in two, and threw the rider off the bike. The rider, identified as 37-year-old Michael Charles Scardino of Henderson, died at the scene, police said. The Civic's driver was able to bring the car to a safe stop on the shoulder and was not injured. The crash remains under investigation. Singer performs US national anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium: ‘Felt like I needed to'
LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Singer and social media personality Nezza performed the national anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night, despite being told beforehand she was expected to sing it in English. 'So we are going to do it in English today. I'm not sure if that was relayed,' an official can be heard saying in a video Nezza posted on social media. Instead, she chose to sing the Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish — a version originally commissioned in 1945. In a video posted to TikTok, Nezza shared an emotional explanation: 'I just felt like I needed to do it. Para mi gente,' she said. 'Safe to say I'm never allowed in that stadium ever again.' The performance came during heightened tension in Los Angeles surrounding recent ICE activity, with some residents urging high-profile organizations, like the Dodgers, to speak out — and others urging them to stay silent. 'I don't feel like they should [speak out],' fan Yvonne Esquivel told Nexstar's KTLA. 'Keep sports sports. And when it's a community-action type of response, then let the community speak.' One killed, two injured in wrong way crash in Colorado
The Colorado State Patrol is piecing together what happened when a driver heading the wrong way on Highway 76 reportedly caused a fatal crash Friday night. GMC damaged on front passenger side in wrong-way crash. Adams County Fire Rescue According to CSP, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by a 62-year-old Denver resident, was driving east in the westbound lanes of Highway 76 near County Road MM3 just before 11 p.m. A woman driving a Honda west on the highway swerved to avoid the truck, but authorities said the truck's front passenger side struck the front passenger side of her car. The truck then rotated clockwise and rolled, coming to a rest in the road on its roof. The Honda reportedly continued east and drove off the road. CSP said the driver and passenger in the Honda were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Honda damaged on front passenger side in fatal crash. Adams County Fire Rescue Authorities said the passenger in the Honda, a 44-year-old man from Thornton, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The Honda driver and the driver of the Sierra were both taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. CSP said charges are pending, and the crash remains under investigation.
