Muzammil Ibrahim Claims Was Removed From YJHD: 'This Had Nothing To Do With Deepika'
Last Updated:
Muzammil claimed that Ayan Mukerji assured him that he would give him the script of the film, but it never happened.
Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains one of the most popular films to date. Released in 2013, the movie starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin in the lead. However, in one of his recent interviews, actor Muzammil Ibrahim claimed that when Ayan was writing his movie, he was considering him for the role of Avi – which was later played by Aditya Roy Kapur.
'Ayan liked me a lot. He told me that he was writing Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani keeping me in mind," Muzammil told Siddharth Kannan. Asked if this had anything to do with Deepika Padukone, who was in a relationship with him in the past, Ibrahim shared, 'This had nothing to do with her". However, he claimed that it was he who suggested Deepika's name for the movie.
'He would often discuss casting with me, if he should take Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif… He would discuss this with me. We were very close. Deepika was the right cast for that film and I told him the same thing," Muzammil said.
Talking about what fell apart and why he was not a part of YJHD, Muzammil shared, 'What happened was… it went to the casting agents later on. And I hashed it out for a long time because there was a misunderstanding between me and Ayan for a long time as to why he didn't cast me."
Muzammil claimed that Ayan assured him that he would give him the script of the film, but it never happened. He blamed casting agents for the same and alleged that they played dirty. 'Ayan told me that he will give me the script to read. And the casting agents came in the way and what they did, and how they communicated between me and Ayan," he said.
'Ayan told me that I really wanted you in this film so obviously you feel… The casting agents really f**ked up things a lot. They have their own agendas and how they communicate things to the director. As long as things were between me and Ayan, we never had a slip. When it came to the casting agents, they did a lot of favouritism," the actor added.

'Deepika Padukone gets more than a lot of male actors': Director Kabir Khan backs her amid Sandeep Vanga's Spirit controversy
Deepika Padukone created quite a stir after her fallout with Sandeep Reddy Vanga over her demand for an 8-hour shift. The industry has since then been divided, and many have come out in support of the actress. The recent one being Kabir Khan, who has voiced his support for the Piku star and her demands. He also revealed that even actors like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar work on an 8-hour shift. What did Kabir Khan say about Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand? Talking to Movified, Kabir Khan emphasized the importance of work-life balance in their field. He revealed working with 500 members who have their own families and their own lives. He stated that their well-being matters for two reasons: mental health and efficiency. Backing Deepika Padukone's demand for an 8-hour shift, he called it a 'fair point'. 'Aamir Khan works on an 8-hour shift. Akshay Kumar too. So I don't see why Deepika should be denied the same,' said the Chandu Champion director. He also dismissed the notion that filmmaking comes with a cost to personal life. According to the filmmaker, the work should have a structure. He revealed that he had never shot beyond 12 hours, never worked overtime, and never worked on the 7th day of the week. 'These are basic rules.' Furthermore, Khan also stated that everyone has the right to set their own terms, which suit them. He concluded by saying, 'If a filmmaker doesn't agree, they should have a valid reason. It's that simple.' What did Kabir Khan say about Deepika Padukone's pay demand? Deepika Padukone had reportedly also demanded Rs 25 crore for Spirit, which again did not land well with Vanga. When asked about the reason behind male actors being paid more. Kabir called it a misunderstood argument. He stated that the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress gets paid more than a lot of male actors. 'Whoever brings in the viewers, whether it's an actor, director, man or woman… they deserve to be paid what they're worth. Deepika consistently pulls crowds, so she rightly commands the fee she does,' he stated. On the work front, it was recently announced that Deepika Padukone has come on board Atlee and Allu Arjun's next AA22 X A6. From the looks of the announcement video, it seems she will play a warrior princess in the same.

6 Real-Life Locations Around the World Where You Can Recreate Iconic Bollywood Movie Scenes
While planning a holiday, every person has their own checklist - some seek sunny beaches, others follow their friends' recommendations, and many keep an eye on budget-friendly destinations. But then there are the film-obsessed ones - the type who would book a ticket just because Ranbir Kapoor (or honestly, anyone from Bollywood) shot a scene there. If you love both movies and travel, this story is made for you. These destinations have featured in unforgettable Bollywood moments. Travel to these places with your friends and recreate those iconic scenes. You know you want to. Eiffel Tower, Paris - Queen No Bollywood-inspired travel list is complete without the Eiffel Tower - that iron-and-lights icon of Paris. In Queen, Kangana Ranaut's character, Rani, dreams of seeing the Eiffel Tower with her fiance;. But after he dumps her, she travels solo to Paris. At first, she avoids the Eiffel Tower altogether, the sight too painful to bear. But with the help of her new friend Vijaylakshmi (played by Lisa Haydon), she rediscovers the city and ends up visiting the Tower at night - this time, not heartbroken but empowered. If you are looking for a solo travel moment with cinematic drama, this one writes itself. Washington Square Park, New York - English Vinglish Sridevi's English Vinglish is full of moments that make you want to pause and reflect. The scene shot at Washington Square Park in Manhattan captures just that. Her character, Shashi, is travelling alone for the first time. She initially enjoys the park's buzz - street performers, music, life. But when she steps into a cafe; and fails to understand the fast-paced American English, she rushes out in tears. The moment is tender and raw, and Washington Square Park becomes the silent witness to her turning point. If you are in New York, walk through the park and feel the weight of that scene, especially if you have ever felt out of place in a new country. Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, Udaipur - Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Udaipur has played muse to many film directors, but it was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that made sunset-watching at Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace a millennial ritual. Ranbir Kapoor's Bunny and Deepika Padukone's Naina share one of their most heartwarming exchanges here. "Life mein kitna bhi try karlo Bunny, kuch na kuch toh miss hoga hi..." Naina says, as the golden sun sets behind them. Bunny listens, for once without interrupting, and something shifts between them. If you are headed to Udaipur, this is your cue to grab a sunset drink and quote lines from your favourite travel film. Bunol, Spain - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Spain. Friends. Tomatoes flying at your face. Need we say more? Bunol is home to the iconic Tomatina Festival, where Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara filmed its most colourful sequence. Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol are drenched in tomato pulp, laughing through a travel dream that feels both ridiculous and freeing. If you are planning a trip to Spain, time it around the last Wednesday of August and join the tomato madness. Just maybe carry an extra set of clothes. Hoboken Terminal, New Jersey - Kal Ho Naa Ho There are Bollywood scenes. And then there is that scene. Shah Rukh Khan's Aman runs to stop Preity Zinta's Naina from leaving, confesses his love- indirectly, of course - and everyone cries. This moment unfolds at Hoboken Terminal in New Jersey, with the Hudson River in the backdrop. Aman pretends to read Rohit's diary but ends up baring his own heart. The station, with its vintage architecture and waterfront views, is perfect for reliving one of Bollywood's most emotional confessions. Even if you are just there to catch a train, expect nostalgia to hit hard. King's Cross Station, London - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge This one is for every Bollywood romantic who has ever quoted DDLJ without shame. At London's King's Cross Station, Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) sees Simran (Kajol) for the first time as she rushes to catch her train. It is not the mustard fields, but this scene sets their story in motion - with a missed connection, a helping hand, and a train that changes everything. This station is a pilgrimage spot for Bollywood fans. And yes, it is also where the Harry Potter gang caught the Hogwarts Express. Call it the ultimate crossover of desi meets global. Ranbir Kapoor's 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' and Aditya Roy Kapur's 'Metro In Dinon': Here's what connects the two films
This is an extension of what we saw in Basu's own 2007 Life In A Metro. The trailer of the film is out and looks a promising take on love and loss read more It all started with Ranbir Kapoor telling us that marriage is like dal chawal for pachaas saal till you die. A simple line from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that instantly became a pop culture reference. And now, years later, we have Aditya Roy Kapur serving up another unforgettable metaphor in Metro In Dino — 'Aaj kal ka pyaar confusing hai… like a Cheese Chinese Schezwan Masala Dosa. Chennai se China sab cover kar liya, lekin raha kahin ka nahi.' A line that's as funny as it is real. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD From Ranbir's classic realism to Aditya's chaotic poeticism, the audience has clearly evolved — and the dialogues are mirroring us right back. Social media is flooded with reels, memes, and fan edits — not just because these lines are iconic, but because they hit home. They capture how love has shifted from comfort to confusion, from definitions to delicious disorder. Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sen Sharma are coming together for Anurag Basu's Metro In Dinon. This is an extension of what we saw in Basu's own 2007 Life In A Metro. The trailer of the film is out and looks a promising take on love and loss. Eight people at the crossroads of life. One story is about an unplanned pregnancy, the next one is about two aging people for whom age is just a number, a third one is about a woman's complicated love life and her complex relationship with her mother. More interesting here is Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan's track, where nobody has any idea where their tale is heading. Pritam has done some of his best work for Basu and here too, music is the thread that holds the fragility of these vulnerable stories together. And yes, Irrfan Khan and KK are no more with us. And the director did recall their absence recently.
