Fairmont cuts the ribbon on new pickleball courts
FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Marion County residents now have a new way to have fun after the City of Fairmont cut the ribbon Friday for its new pickleball court at Windmill Park.
The courts were previously used as basketball courts, which the city converted for $120,000. City officials said they're trying to provide opportunities to keep the community active and get in on the latest sports trends, all while keeping people in Fairmont.

According to pickleball.com, 2024 was the fourth year in a row that pickleball was the fastest-growing sport in America. After the ribbon-cutting for the Pickleball Courts, Fairmont Mayor Anne Bolyard tried them out. If you want to get a game in yourself, the gate will be open.
The Pickleball Courts are a part of a broader city effort to invest in parks and recreation. City officials said that by the end of the fiscal year, the city will have made $3 million worth of upgrades to its municipal park facilities.
