Meghalaya Assembly autumn session from Sep 8-12
He made the announcement after chairing a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the assembly.
The five-day session will have three days reserved for government business and two days for private members' business, Sangma told reporters.
The BAC meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prestone Tynsong, Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma, who joined via video conference from Tura, and senior assembly officials.
'Last year, the session began on a Friday and extended to the following Friday due to the Janmashtami holiday. This year, as there is less government business, especially fewer supplementary demands and demands for grants, the committee agreed to a five-day session from Monday to Friday," the Speaker said.
Asked if the Opposition was satisfied with the schedule, Sangma said all members agreed unanimously, with no objections raised. PTI JOP ACD

Fatehpur Mausoleum Case: No Arrest Over Vandalism Yet; Locals Barred From Talking to Outsiders
New Delhi: While the police were yet to arrest anyone in connection with the vandalism of a mausoleum in Fatehpur's Abu Nagar locality, a one-kilometre radius has been cordoned off with barricades around the site to prevent any further communal flare-up. On Tuesday (August 13), police booked more than 150 people, 10 of them named, for damaging public property and disturbing the peace, according to news agency PTI. The 10 named in the FIR are Dharmendra Singh (Bajrang Dal), Abhishek Shukla (BJP), Ajay Singh (district panchayat member), Devnath Dhakad (BJP), Vinay Tiwari (municipal councillor), Pushpraj Patel, Rithik Pal (BJP), Prasoon Tiwari (BJP), Ashish Trivedi and Pappu Chauhan (Samajwadi Party). Meanwhile, locals have been barred from talking to outsiders and media entry has been banned. Police in plainclothes are roaming areas near the mausoleum, interacting with locals and monitoring the activities. On August 11, a violent confrontation erupted in Fatehpur, after a mob from various Hindutva bodies stormed a centuries-old mausoleum in Abu Nagar, hoisted saffron flags on it, performed Hindu rituals inside and vandalised graves in the presence of security forces. It was followed by stone-pelting and clashes with members of the Muslim community, triggering a political outcry and raising questions about law enforcement in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Uttar Pradesh. According to the PTI report, while the vandals are yet to be arrested, police have arrested the Congress city president, Arif alias Gudda, and his several supporters, for holding a protest demanding the arrest of the vandals. Meanwhile, the party's district president, Mahesh Dwivedi was placed under house arrest when a party delegation comprising two former MLAs planned to visit the site. Dwivedi called the police action 'dictatorial' and accused the administration of acting as a 'silent spectator' while the vandalism had happened. Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Uttam Patel said he had sent a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah, demanding an investigation by an independent agency into the matter.

(PTI) Announced the schedule of Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Congress general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal said, 'To save our vote, our Constitution, our democracy, Rahul Gandhi, former deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav and other Mahagadbandhan leaders will embark on the Voter Adhikar Yatra across Bihar.' 'The yatra will kick off with a mega launch rally in Sasaram on August 17, going through Gaya, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Pashchim Champaran, and ending in Arrah on August 30,' Venugopal said. The proposed 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' will be focused on the Opposition's ongoing tirade against the ECI. Renukaswamy's father hails SC decision cancelling actor Darshan's bail
The family of murder victim Renukaswamy on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court order cancelling the bail granted to actor Darshan, saying it reinforces their faith in justice. "Our faith in the government, judiciary and police has increased after the Supreme Court cancelled actor Darshan's bail. We thank the government. Our aim is to see that the criminal is punished. This will give peace to my son who was murdered," Renukaswamy's father Shivanagouda told PTI. He said the cancellation of bail "makes us believe that the law is equal to all, be it rich, mighty or poor." The judgement came on an appeal filed by the Karnataka government against the state high court's December 13, 2024 order of bail to Darshan and the co-accused. Live Events Darshan, along with actress Pavithra Gowda and several others, is accused of abducting and torturing 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan who allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra. The police alleged the victim was held in a shed in Bengaluru for three days in June 2024, tortured and his body was recovered from a drain. Following the court order, security at Ballari prison has been tightened amid indications that Darshan may be shifted there. A high-security cell has been readied, and the compound wall, which fans had previously scaled to catch a glimpse of the actor, has been raised to 25 feet to prevent any untoward incidents, sources said. Officials said preparations for Independence Day flag-hoisting are being carried out alongside the enhanced security measures for Darshan's possible arrival.
