
459 waiting for organs in Mangaluru zone
Talking to reporters about the organ donation day being celebrated in Mangaluru on August 1, Dr. Thimmaiah said of the 459 waitlisted in the portal of Jeevasarthakathe Human Organs Transplantation programme, 446 want kidneys and 13 need a liver.
Dr. Thimmaiah said so far, there have been 41 cadaver donations of organs in Dakshina Kannada. A total of 115 organs and 52 tissues, including skin, heart valves and cornea, have been transplanted. There were a total of 10 private hospitals in Mangaluru and two in Shivamogga which were acting both as organ retrieval and transplantation centres.
Superintendent of Government Wenlock Hospital D.S. Shivaprakash said the hospital was presently an organ retrieval centre. It was proposed to become an organ transplantation centre shortly, he said.

Rs 33,081 cr approved to states from FY22 to FY26 to boost health infra: Govt
New Delhi: In a bid to strengthen public health infrastructure, States and Union Territories (UTs) have been approved a total of Rs 33,081.82 crore from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, said Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, in the Parliament on Tuesday. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Jadhav highlighted the measures under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) to develop capacities of health systems and institutions across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. Better infrastructure can help prepare health systems to effectively respond to the current and future pandemics or disasters. 'Administrative approvals have been accorded to States/UTs for FY 2021-22, FY 2022-23, FY 2023-24, FY 2024-25, and FY 2025-26 for an amount of Rs 33081.82 Crore,' Jadhav said. The amount has been utilised to construct and strengthen "10,609 building less- Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs); 5,456 urban AAMs; 2,151 block public health units (BPHUs); 744 integrated public health laboratories (IPHLs) at district level and 621 critical care hospital blocks (CCBs),' the Minister added. PM-ABHIM is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with some Central Sector Components (CS), which has an outlay of Rs. 64,180 Crores for the scheme period (2021-22 to 2025-26). The scheme aims for the construction of 17,788 building-less Sub-Centres as Ayushman Bharat- Health and Wellness centres, now known as AAMs, during the period. Further, it also aims to establish 11,024 health and wellness centres, now known as U-AAMs, in urban areas with a focus on slum and slum like areas; 3,382 BPHUs at the block level; 730 district IPHLs in the country, wherein each district will have one such lab. The funds will also be utilised to establish 602 CCBs in all districts with a population of more than 5 lakhs.

Health minister inaugurates projects worth Rs 11.6 crore in Dharmapuri district
DHARMAPURI: Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated new projects worth Rs 12.63 crore across the district, and also participated in the 12th convocation at the Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital (DMCH), along with Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam, where 88 students had graduated. Speaking at the meeting, Subramanian said, "Since the DMK government came to power, Chief Minister MK Stalin has taken steps to improve the infrastructure of all hospitals across the state. As testament to this, in Dharmapuri, we inaugurated 11 projects, including a new MRI unit in DMCH. A pay ward with 50 beds has also been introduced. We have also constructed a special observation ward for postnatal mothers and children, and other projects worth Rs 12.63 crores. Moreover, since Stalin took charge, 11 government medical college hospitals have seen infrastructure upgrades worth Rs 4,722.51 crore."
