The highest-paid actors in India today demand fees that amount to hundreds of crores. Last year, Shah Rukh Khan earned Rs 100 crore each for Pathaan and Jawan , as per the reports. This is different from the remuneration received on a profit-sharing basis. But, do you know who is the first Bollywood actor to earn Rs 1 crore per film? Who is the first Bollywood actor to earn Rs 1 crore?
There is a 1990 crime drama film that draws inspiration from the core themes of the Mahabharata , but presents a modified storyline from the perspectives of Bhima and Arjuna – a deviation from Vyasa's original epic. Directed and produced by K. C. Bokadia, the film starred Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Prada. It had a record-breaking opening and was commercially successful at the box office. The film in question is Aaj Ka Arjun.
Every filmmaker dreams of working with Amitabh Bachchan, but did you know that a director once offered him Rs 1 crore to cast him in a film? At that time, no other actor had been offered such a fee. Jaya Prada played the female lead alongside him, and the film was directed by K.C. Bokadia. It also marked his directorial debut.
While talking to Prabhat Khabar, KC Bokadia said, 'I was working as a producer before this film, due to which Amitabh ji's then manager was hesitant about Big B doing a film with me. He told me that Amit ji's fee is Rs 80 lakh, whereas I knew that his fee at that time was 70 lakh.'
Bokadia further said, 'He must have thought that I would refuse after hearing the high fee. But I said that I can give him even Rs 1 crore to do a film with such a big star. At that time, hardly any actor was paid Rs 1 crore.
Aaj Ka Arjun's box office collection
Let us tell you that through this film, Big B got a hit film after a long time. Before this, his films were becoming flops. Aaj Ka Arjun was made on a budget of Rs 2.70 crore. The worldwide collection of the movie was Rs 13 crore.
Aaj Ka Arjun also featured Raadhika, Suresh Oberoi, Kiran Kumar, Amrish Puri, Rishabh Shukla, Asrani and Anupam Kher. At the 36th Filmfare Awards, Aaj Ka Arjun received two nominations, including Best Supporting Actress (Radhika) and Best Music Director (Lahiri). The music was composed by Bappi Lahiri and the lyrics were penned by Anjaan. The film has a memorable number, 'Gori Hai Kalaiyan'.

In one scene, Aagasam, tired of all the fights, breaks down in front of his father. In another, a mother posts a WhatsApp status of her child, hoping her estranged husband sees it. When someone sees the family fight for a whole day, they say, 'Inum ivanga mudikalaya,' and you feel that too. Hindi-Marathi row hits cinemas as MNS protests fewer screens for regional film

A fresh row has erupted in Maharashtra between Hindi and Marathi cinema over the allocation of movie theatre controversy began when screenings of the Marathi film Yere Yere Paisa 3 were reportedly reduced across multiplexes to accommodate the Hindi blockbuster Saiyaara, which has already grossed over Rs 220 crore globally. The decision has drawn strong backlash from Marathi filmmakers and regional political parties, who see it as a blow to the state's cultural Khopkar, the chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Cinema Wing and producer of Yere Yere Paisa 3, alleged that multiplexes were engaging in 'vindictive politics' by favouring Saiyaara over regional cinema. 'If my film isn't given screens, I will break the glasses of those theatres,' Khopkar warned, accusing cinema chains of ignoring the rule that mandates one screen in every multiplex for regional leader Sandeep Deshpande backed Khopkar's warning, reflecting the party's aggressive approach to protecting Marathi culture. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also extended support to MNS, writing on X, 'To accommodate Saiyaara, Yere Yere Paisa 3 has been sidelined, a recurring issue. The fight for Marathi must intensify. Jai Maharashtra!'The ruling Shiv Sena faction, led by Eknath Shinde, also entered the fray. Its Cinema Wing President, Sushant Shelar, staged a protest outside a Bandra PVR multiplex, demanding strict implementation of the regional film screening Saiyaara's screen count has surged from 800 to 2,000, while Marathi films struggle to secure prime slots in theatres. BJP minister Nitesh Rane weighed in on the issue, urging Marathi filmmakers to approach the government rather than protest. 'Saiyaara is a hit. If your movie is good, it will get screens,' he controversy comes amid growing concerns about the marginalisation of the Marathi language and culture in Maharashtra. Just weeks earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray joined forces to oppose what they termed the imposition of Hindi in state schools.- EndsMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Maharashtra
