NMRDA for 15-meter wide approach roads for develoment of properties in region
"Developers construct properties and move on, and then the people who live in those properties face problems due to narrow roads. In order to ensure proper development, we have decided on 15-metre norm," said NMRDA commissioner Manikrao Gursal.
As per the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations 2020, properties are developed only on the basis of available width of road that helps dwellers access the nearest public way.
The region is likely to see huge development during the forthcoming Simhastha Kumbhmela as well as overall development of places just outside Nashik Municipal Corporation limits.
"We will have development of roads and properties considering the forthcoming Simhastha, besides handling movement of traffic from Ozar and even Shirdi international airports to and from Nashik city, all of which will be happen in NMRDA region spread across 275 villages in six talukas.

Gursal said huge plots have been developed in neighbouring talukas of Nashik but their approach roads are very small, leading to problems for the residents as well as visitors. "Given the climatic conditions in Igatpuri, Nashik, and surrounding areas, there is demand for second homes, and so a large number of people — even the aged — visit these places. Traffic jams have now become regular issues on roads leading to chaotic conditions," said the officer.
NMRDA has already announced widening of village roads from 15 to 18 metres, the other district roads (ODR) from 18 to 24 metres, and major district roads (MDR) from 24 to 30 metres.

50 research proposals presented at CNLU's startup law summit

India's logistics cost will drop to single digits by 2026, says Nitin Gadkari; to boost competitiveness - here's how much it is in China, America
(Photo credit: PTI) Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said that India's logistics cost will come down to single digits by the end of 2026, making the country more competitive in global trade. "I want to assure the Prime Minister and all of you that before the end of 2026, the logistics cost of our country will come in the single digits, which will be very important for our exports. We will become even more competitive," Gadkari said while addressing an event in New Delhi. Currently, India's logistics cost stands at around 14-16%, compared to 8% in China and 12% in the US and Europe, he added. The minister made these remarks at an event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two major National Highway projects worth nearly Rs 11,000 crore, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). The 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of Rs 5,360 crore, will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, DMRC's Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. Earlier, in March 2024, the prime minister inaugurated the Haryana section of the same expressway.
