Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar 2,' a comedy sequel, also makes its theatrical debut, with streaming dates anticipated later. Check these OTT releases to binge-watch this weekend. August is turning into a treat for cinema lovers — whether you're catching new releases in theatres or waiting for them to stream at home, there's plenty to look forward to. Romantic dramas, emotional sagas, and laugh-out-loud comedies are sharing screens this month. And with Netflix already snapping up streaming rights for some of the biggest titles, audiences won't have to wait too long before these stories arrive in their living rooms. Here's a look at three major releases making waves. Hitting theatres on August 1, Dhadak 2 brings Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri together in a romance that's anything but simple. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is both a remake of the Tamil drama Pariyerum Perumal and a spiritual follow-up to Dhadak, which saw Janhvi Kapoor's debut and Ishaan Khatter's first commercial success. Dhadak 2 explores the love story of Neelesh, a law student from a marginalised community, and Vidhi, an upper-class woman, as they face brutal caste prejudice. Despite clashing with big releases, it earned glowing reviews. Netflix will stream it likely between September 12 and 26. Anurag Basu's Metro… In Dino, released on July 4, is a heartfelt look at modern relationships against the chaos of city life. The film, seen as a spiritual sequel to Life in a… Metro features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, and more. With moving music and layered storytelling, it resonated strongly with audiences. Konkona remains the only returning cast member from the original. Netflix will be its OTT home, with streaming expected in late August or early September. Ajay Devgn returns with Son of Sardaar 2, the comedy sequel to the 2012 hit. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra and marks the final film of Mukul Dev. The plot follows a man pretending to be a war hero to help a couple gain family approval for their marriage. Shot across Edinburgh, London, and Chandigarh, the movie released on August 1 after a date shift and received mixed to negative reviews from critics. According to a GQ India report, industry buzz suggests Son of Sardaar 2 could hit streaming sometime between September 12 and 26, 2025 — following the usual six-to-eight-week gap after its theatrical OTT release are you most excited about?
