‘The Social Network Part II' in the Works with Aaron Sorkin Writing and Directing
Aaron Sorkin is going back into the world of Facebook. Sorkin and Sony Pictures are in development on 'The Social Network Part II,' a follow-up film to the 2010 gem 'The Social Network' about the founding of Facebook, an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire.
For now, the film is only in development, but Sorkin has already written the screenplay for the follow-up, and Sony has also tapped him to direct after David Fincher directed the first film.

Crucially, no cast is set on the project, and the film is being described as a follow-up rather than a sequel, so it's unclear if Sorkin would look to again tap stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield, or others.
This time, Sorkin is working from the Wall Street Journal's series of articles called 'The Facebook Files' from 2021, which exposed the inner workings of the social media giant and the harm found to have been caused by the tech company. Among the findings, the paper reported that there were a handful of elite employees at the company exempt from its corporate rules, that it was aware of the toxic impact Instagram had on teenage girls, that it was aware Facebook's algorithm change was emotionally damaging friends and family.
Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser are producing 'The Social Network Part II.'
Zuckerberg himself has changed immensely in the public consciousness since Eisenberg's indelible and precisely crafted performance as him in Fincher's film. Eisenberg said earlier this year that he doesn't want to be thought of 'as someone associated with someone like that.'
'It's like this guy is… doing things that are problematic, taking away fact-checking,' Eisenberg told BBC Radio 4's 'Today.' '[There are] safety concerns. Making people who are already threatened in the world more threatened.'
Sorkin, too, has been critical of Facebook since making the film, writing an open letter in 2019 chastising Facebook for 'assaulting truth' after it allowed political candidates to run false ads.
Released in 2010 by Sony Pictures, 'The Social Network' made $226 million globally at the box office and was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture, and won three, including Aaron Sorkin winning Best Adapted Screenplay.
Sorkin, as a director, has been behind the camera for three films, most recently the Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz biopic 'Being the Ricardos' in 2021. This would be his fourth film as a director after also directing and writing 'Molly's Game' and 'The Trial of the Chicago 7.'
Deadline first reported the news.

Sacramento hosts Michelin Guide California 2025. New capital city restaurants added to guide.
To get a Michelin star as a chef is like an actor getting an Oscar, and the stars were out in California's capital city on Wednesday night with Sacramento hosting the Michelin Guide California 2025. Two Sacramento restaurants kept their Michelin stars, while three others, new to the guide this year, celebrated the boost to business. Majka Pizzeria was buzzing Wednesday night, with the hum of the kitchen and friends sharing some of Sacramento's best pizza. "We opened in the pandemic in 2020. It was just me and my wife working a takeout window," owner Alex Sherry said. "Fast forward to 2025, we have a full staff, full dining room, full set dinners every night now." The hard work didn't go unnoticed, and this year, Majka got on the Michelin Guide. "It changed dramatically more than you could ever imagine," Sherry said. "Business was just incredibly busy overnight. Now it's five days a week, fresh pasta and small plates, fresh salad and pizza. It's been really amazing." Call it the Michelin effect for 17 Sacramento-area restaurants. Two of those, Localis and The Kitchen, hold Michelin stars and were showcased during the ceremony. The guide brings the farm-to-fork capital to a larger audience, one that seeks out dining as an experience, making Sacramento the destination. "You think about how Sacramento used to be defined," said Visit Sacramento CEO Mike Testa. "Obviously, we're the home of the gold rush. We're a government city, but you look at it now, food is at the top of that list." Pho Momma in Sacramento earned the Bib Gourmand distinction, which means they offer a three-course meal at a reasonable price.

Late Night Ponders the Possibility of a Millennial Mayor of New York
Welcome to Best of Late Night, a rundown of the previous night's highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now. Young Blood A young state assemblyman, Zohran Mamdani, is likely to be the Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City after stunning former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a primary election on Tuesday. 'My seven roommates are never going to believe this,' Jimmy Fallon imagined the 33-year-old candidate saying on Wednesday's 'Tonight Show.' 'Wow, that's a good age, 'cause he knows the meaning of both the spending cap and 'no cap.'' — JIMMY FALLON 'Between his campaign and his billionaire-backed super PACs, Cuomo raised over $36 million, while Mamdani relied on volunteers and a relentlessly positive campaign based on issues that affect everyday New Yorkers, like freezing the rent, no-cost child care and free buses. Sounds pretty good. Sounds pretty good — and I, for one, cannot wait to get my free bus. I'm gonna paint mine like the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine and then fight ghost crime.' — STEPHEN COLBERT 'According to experts, with this message, Mamdani generated excitement among minority groups and electrified younger voters, while older voters still run on diesel.' — STEPHEN COLBERT The Punchiest Punchlines (Cuomo Edition) 'Yesterday was New York City's Democratic mayoral primary, and former Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded to state Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani. On the bright side for Cuomo, at least he doesn't have to move to New York City.' — SETH MEYERS 'Mamdani won decisively in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, while Andrew Cuomo won Staten Island, the Bronx and the secret sixth borough of Groper's Island.' — STEPHEN COLBERT 'During his concession speech, Cuomo said that Mamdani put together a great campaign and added, 'He touched young people and inspired them and got them to come out and vote.' Cuomo's mistake was waiting until after he was elected to touch young people.' — SETH MEYERS 'Yes, that Andrew Cuomo, the same one who sentenced grannies to death in nursing homes during Covid. I guess the senior vote was important after all.' — DANA PERINO, guest host of 'Gutfeld' 'The same Cuomo who resigned in disgrace and blamed his groping tendencies on being Italian, like he was Super Mario popping Cialis instead of mushrooms.' — DANA PERINO The Bits Worth Watching Diego Luna, this week's guest host of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' and Guillermo Rodriguez tried to cash in on the surge in Americans moving to Mexico with a new business venture, Gring-Go. What We're Excited About on Thursday Night The 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' star Mariska Hargitay will talk about her intimate new documentary, 'My Mom Jayne,' on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.' Patrick Schwarzenegger's relationship with Miley Cyrus quickly became public, with paparazzi capturing their PDA-filled moments, from ringing in New Year's together with a sweet kiss to vacationing in Hawaii just weeks later. While the chapter between Patrick and Miley has closed, Arnold has no hard feelings against Cyrus. 'She's a wonderful, wonderful girl and human being,' Schwarzenegger told host . 'She came up to Sun Valley when we were skiing up there, and she was just a wonderful house guest. We just all loved her.' 'She was just a really good, good person and fun to hang out with,' the "Terminator" star continued. 'I'm sorry it didn't work out. But Patrick, in the meantime, found another girl that he got engaged with and he's getting married to in September.' Before they became one of Hollywood's most unexpected couples in 2014, Patrick Schwarzenegger had his eyes on Miley Cyrus for years, literally. Back in May 2011, a 17-year-old Patrick said, 'My eye is set on Miley.' Fast forward to November 2014, when the two were photographed kissing at a USC football game, confirming what fans had been speculating. According to insiders at Us Weekly, the duo had been friends for years, moving in the same social circles. 'She thinks he's hot, she thinks he's cool. Patrick is a nice good guy,' a source revealed. 'He's grown up in Hollywood just like her and it was only a matter of time before they hooked up.' Their romance quickly heated up. Throughout early 2015, the couple was spotted frequently, whether attending red carpet events, brunching beachside in Malibu, or cozying up at a Grammys afterparty. They officially confirmed their relationship on Valentine's Day by posting selfies together on Instagram. Patrick captioned his photo, 'Luckiest guy in the world,' while Miley gushed, 'Life couldn't get any better.' While their relationship was short-lived, it was a quintessential mid-2010s Hollywood moment, two nepo babies, raised in the limelight, falling in love under the ever-watchful eye of the paparazzi. And for Patrick, it was a real-life crush that turned into reality. While their whirlwind romance may be in the rearview mirror, both Patrick Schwarzenegger and Miley Cyrus have since found love with partners who bring out the best in them. Cyrus was previously married to "Hunger Games" actor from 2018 until their divorce in 2020. Since 2021, she's been romantically linked to drummer , and the two have kept their relationship relatively private while continuing to support each other's careers. Schwarzenegger moved on with model Abby Champion, whom he began dating in September 2015. The couple announced their engagement in December 2023 and are currently preparing to say "I do." In a February 2025 interview with PEOPLE, "The White Lotus" actor gushed about his fiancée, revealing that it was her strong sense of family and shared values that won him over. 'Over the course of the years, I just continuously fell in love with her more and more, with the kind of human that she was becoming and that the relationship was becoming,' he shared. During a March appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Patrick revealed that he and Champion decided to delay their wedding after he landed his breakout role as Saxon Ratliff on "The White Lotus." 'Finally, a year and a half ago, we got engaged. And it was our moment, it was this great thing,' he said at the time. 'And a few days later, I booked 'White Lotus,' and I was like, 'Abby, I know we're in this high of engagement, and we're gonna get married this year. But we're going to have to push it. I got 'White Lotus,' and I'm going to film for the next seven months in Thailand.'' Despite having to postpone the wedding, Champion 'was so happy" for her fiancé. "She was ecstatic because she was a huge fan,' he added.
