Authentic Brands extends Juicy Couture fragrance licence with Revlon

Revlon announced on Tuesday the renewal of its long-standing global licensing deal for Juicy Couture fragrances with brand management firm, Authentic Brands Group.
Having first partnered in 2016, the U.S. cosmetics giant will continue to produce and market all Juicy Couture fragrances worldwide, including the American fashion brand's fragrance best-seller Viva La Juicy, with its signature blend of wild berries, jasmine, and creamy vanilla.
The new agreement also supports an expanded product portfolio, with new launches planned across core fragrances and scented ancillary lines, according to a press release.
'We are pleased to continue our partnership with Revlon, a trusted collaborator that has played a pivotal role in propelling Juicy Couture fragrances to new heights,' said Jarrod Weber, global president, sports and lifestyle at Authentic, which owns the Juicy Couture brand.
'Their dedication to honoring the essence of the brand, while continuing to evolve and innovate, has helped shape the Juicy Couture fragrance line into a global force. Together, we've created an experience that is unmistakably Juicy Couture and deeply connected to our community's passion for beauty, fashion, and self-expression.'
In addition to Juicy Couture, Revlon's fragrance portfolio also includes Elizabeth Arden, John Varvatos, Geoffrey Beene, Lucky Brand, Christina Aguilera, Elizabeth Taylor, Ed Hardy and Curve.

"This deal is not only a testament to the enduring appeal of the Juicy Couture brand but also a significant milestone in the ongoing revitalization of our fragrance business. To celebrate five decades of artisanal excellence, the Italian label, part of the Kering luxury group, has launched a striking new campaign titled 'Craft is Our Language.' The visuals feature a series of moving hands—intertwined and interlaced like leather strips—alongside notable personalities. The story of intrecciato dates back to the 1970s when Renzo Zengiaro, the craftsman behind Bottega Veneta, introduced the weaving technique. He co-founded the house in Vicenza in 1966 with Michele Taddei. Their technique and design quickly became a reference in luxury leather goods. At the time, leather in the Veneto region—better known for ready-to-wear—was especially thin, suitable for weaving and commonly used in gloves and shoes. Zengiaro's idea was to use wider leather strips to create bags using his very own developed method. However, success came slowly. Years later, Zengiaro recalled that buyers in Paris rejected his woven leather bags, claiming they looked too much like summer straw bags. The brand halted production, kept only a few samples, and offered them to the Japanese and American markets. Customers in those regions quickly drove up demand, laying the foundation for what ultimately became Bottega Veneta's hallmark. Since then, intrecciato has been reinterpreted in numerous ways by the brand's various creative directors—across apparel, materials, and even oversized weaves. The technique has been used to craft highly coveted accessories, often widely copied. It quickly became a staple in all product categories, from jewelry and furniture to ready-to-wear. Yet the brand's new campaign barely shows its bags or products. Instead, it highlights creativity, craftsmanship, and human connection. This focus explains the use of hands—literally forming a language—as illustrated in a well-known book by Italian designer Bruno Munari. Bottega Veneta honors him through this project. The anniversary campaign 'views intrecciato not just as a technique, but as a metaphor. The interwoven leather strips, which over time became the house's hallmark, represent the bond that links individuals. It symbolizes sharing, transmission, and the collective spirit that drives Bottega Veneta's philosophy,' the house explained in a statement. Shot by photographer Jack Davison and choreographed by Lenio Kaklea, 'Craft is Our Language' is built around a series of portraits paired with images of hands. The selected figures come from the worlds of art, film, fashion, literature, music, and sport. The lineup starts with actress Lauren Hutton, who carried a Bottega Veneta woven clutch in Paul Schrader's 1980 film American Gigolo and walked the runway in 2016 for the brand's 50th anniversary wearing a modernized version of the same piece. Others featured in the campaign include designer Edward Buchanan—who served as Bottega Veneta's first ready-to-wear creative director from 1995 to 2000—Italian filmmaker Dario Argento, actress Julianne Moore, poet and sculptor Barbara Chase-Riboud, singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry, and novelist Zadie Smith.

EU 'strongly regrets' Trump's 50% steel and aluminium tariff hike

President Donald Trump announced the US will double its tariffs on steel imports and aluminium to take effect on Wednesday — a measure expected to have a significant impact on Europe. Trump said that doubling taxes on imported steel would "further strengthen the steel industry in the United States". In a post, published later on his Truth Social platform, the US president added that duties on aluminium will also increase from 25% to 50%. The reaction from Brussels was swift. "We strongly regret the announced increase of US tariffs on steel imports from 25% to 50%," the European Commission said in a statement on Saturday. "This decision adds further uncertainty to the global economy and increases costs for consumers and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic". Also referring to the ongoing transatlantic trade talks, the spokesperson said that "the tariff increase also undermines ongoing efforts to reach a negotiated solution." "The EU is prepared to impose countermeasures, including in response to the latest US tariff increase" if needed, the Commission said. The announcement comes after confusing days during which the judiciary gave opposing rulings on Trump's customs policy, first blocking it with a decision by the US Court of International Trade and finally giving it the green light again, pending a new decision by a federal appeals court. Trump spoke on Friday at US Steel's Mon Valley Works-Irvin plant on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he also discussed details of a deal being finalised for investment by Japan's Nippon Steel in the iconic American steel mill. Trump clarified to reporters after his return to Washington, however, that he has yet to approve the deal. "I have to approve the final agreement with Nippon and we haven't seen the final agreement yet, but they've made a very big commitment and it's a very big investment," he said. Although Trump initially promised to block the Japanese steelmaker's bid to buy US Steel, he changed course and last week announced an agreement for a partial sale to Nippon Steel. The Japanese company never claimed to have changed its previous offer to buy and fully control US Steel, for $14.9 billion, although it did increase the amount it promised to invest in American plants and guaranteed it would not lay anyone off. "We are here today to celebrate anextraordinary deal that will ensure that this historic American company will remain an American company," Trump said during a rally at one of U.S. Steel's warehouses, "you will remain an American company, you know that, right?" The United Steelworkers union said it was very concerned "about the impact this merger of U.S. Steel with a foreign competitor will have on national security, our members, and the communities where we live and work." According to the government's producer price index, steel prices have risen 16% since Trump became president in mid-January. As of March 2025, steel cost $984 per metric tonne in the US, far more than the price in Europe ($690) or China ($392), according to the US Department of Commerce. Among the partners most affected by the possible increase in duties on these materials are the EU, which had just obtained a July postponement of the increase in general duties on exports to the US, and Canada. "Dismantling efficient, competitive, and reliable cross-border supply chains like we have in steel and aluminium comes at a high cost to both countries," Candace Laing, president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce commented. Last year, the US produced about three times as much steel as it imported, with Canada, Brazil, Mexico and South Korea as the main sources of imports. Analysts have credited the duties dating back to Trump's first term with helping to strengthen the domestic steel industry. The fate of US Steel, once the world's largest steel company, could weigh in the midterm elections for the Republican Party in the always decisive state of Pennsylvania and others that depend on manufacturing.
