Mersal Foundation provided nearly 500,000 services to vulnerable and underserved individuals in the first half of 2025, with the total value of support reaching approximately EGP 500 million.
The initiative reached an estimated 40,000 people, offering medical, social, and relief aid across Egypt. Of these services, 263,000 were medical and supported 17,000 individuals at a cost of EGP 365 million. An additional 184,000 social services were delivered to 15,000 people, totalling EGP 39 million in expenditures.
The foundation also organised 19 medical convoys during this period, costing EGP 42 million. Specialised oncology care accounted for 6,000 services for 900 patients, with expenses amounting to EGP 98 million.
Under a refugee support project conducted in partnership with the UNHCR, 35,000 services - including medical examinations, medication, and psychological support - were delivered to 7,000 individuals at a cost of EGP 6 million.

In‑Home Healthcare Initiative Launches in Port Said & Ismailia

The in-home care program is part of Egypt's Universal Health Insurance rollout, with full national coverage expected by 2027 following a phase one investment of over EGP 51 billion. Aug 03, 2025 Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) has launched the 'Your Care at Home' initiative in Port Said and Ismailia, after having completed 2,000 in-home visits in its pilot phase. The program offers medical services including family medicine, nursing, chronic disease care, physical therapy and elderly support through mobile medical units. Services are available within 48 hours, or on the same day for urgent needs, and are open to all citizens regardless of insurance status. Medical teams follow standardised clinical protocols to ensure service quality and patient privacy. Future expansions will include post-surgical and mental health services. The initiative is part of the Universal Health Insurance System, currently operating in six governorates, with full national rollout targeted for 2027.
