Scottish Ensemble unveils Glasgow shows for 2025/26
Coming together with other venues across Scotland, these performances aim to provide an exhilarating range of musical experiences for the audience.
The ensemble is shifting focus this autumn onto composer Anna Meredith, recognised for her boundary-pushing style.
(Image: Tiu Makkonen) Among the schedule is Shifting Patterns, running from October 25 to 29 and presenting a unique blend of Meredith's energetic compositions and Henryk Górecki's emotionally rich Quasi una Fantasia.
The performance will administer a combined feast of sound and visuals with tailor-made projections by animator Ewan Morris Jones.

The Concerts by Candlelight tour from December 2 to 11 will present the UK premiere of a new piece by Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov.
The piece, Moments of Memory VI, was co-commissioned by the Scottish Ensemble, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Arctic Philharmonic, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music for NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra.
The Young Artists programme also continues, allowing string students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to work closely with the ensemble's musicians.
Performances in Glasgow on January 16 and 17 will showcase the output of this partnership.
Lauren Jack and Annabel Stevens, stand-out performers in the 2024 residency, will also make their Scottish Ensemble debuts in the autumn/winter series.
The ensemble also continues their work in helping people with music, Music for Wellbeing, a series of sessions leaders hope will provide calmness, combat stress, and uplift emotions.
This scheme will revisit Maggie's centres this autumn in continuation of a long-running partnership with the charity.
The scheme will also be present in schools, focusing on aiding pupils develop mindful listening skills.

He was given a Hoops top back in 2005 and has declared himself a fan ever since. Snoop congratulated the club for their title win in 2022 and had hoped to party with the players when he performed in Glasgow the following year. While that didn't materialise, he said in the following years that he would love to come to Celtic Park. And the US rapper said if his new burger van idea takes off, he would personally come and serve food to Hoops fans. Fans of the Young, Wild and Free singer will know that he enjoys cooking and is close friends with celeb chef Gordon Ramsay. 'Trump, The Twins President,' which just wrapped up three days of performances in the Chinese territory of Hong Kong, marries traditional Cantonese opera with a parody of modern political events, mostly involving Trump. Though the opera satirizes a range of political figures from China, the U.S. and elsewhere, the star of the show is Trump, who shimmied across the stage in a blond wig and eyebrows, blue suit and red tie to the delight of sold-out audiences at a 1,000-seat theater at the Xiqu Centre, a performing arts venue for Cantonese opera and Chinese traditional theater. The three-and-a-half-hour show began in 2019 but has been updated to reflect current events, most recently Trump's attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania last summer and his heated Oval Office exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in February. New Lanark opens 'Power Trail' exploring waterpower history
The trail invites visitors, schools, and learners of all ages to explore the history of waterpower from the 18th century to modern renewable energy. It was constructed as part of the Vision for Lanark initiative and is a joint effort by Lanark Community Development Trust, Drax, New Lanark Trust, and the Scottish Wildlife Trust. (Image: Supplied) The project was funded by the Drax Group, operators of Bonnington Power Station, and SSE's Sustainable Development Fund. Starting at New Lanark, the trail takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and features 12 information panels located across eight sites. The new trail is designed to support school group learning, introducing learners to core themes of heritage, environment, and hydro-electricity. Michael Shanks, MP for Rutherglen and Minister for Energy, said: "This exciting new trail showcases New Lanark's incredible heritage in the development of some of our first renewables – an early marker of Scotland's potential to generate clean power. "Hydro schemes continue to play a critical role in our energy mix, and being able to see the journey of this technology through the centuries is a great opportunity." Sarah Cameron, Scotland community manager at Drax, said: "Drax are delighted to support the development of the Power Trail, as our Lanark Hydro scheme approaches its 100th anniversary. "We hope all visitors following the trail enjoy learning about how Bonnington Power Station operates using the River Clyde." Sylvia Russell, chairman of Lanark Community Development Trust, said: "We are also very grateful to Drax and SSE for their generous grant funding. "We hope that visitors to New Lanark will find the new trail interesting and informative and that school groups will make use of the excellent STEM teaching resources."
