Director B Subhash Recalling Mithun Chakraborty 'Almost in Tears' on Set
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the veteran director, who gave Chakraborty his first commercial success, expresses his joy over the actor's big win. 'I saw the national media reporting that the Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been given to the 'Disco Dancer'. It feels like our film has won this huge honour (laughs). I sent him a message, and he replied, saying that he's grateful for everything I've done for him. We share a great relationship," says Subhash, who also directed Chakraborty in Taqdeer Ka Badshah.
Talking about why he chose to cast Chakraborty—who still wasn't widely known at the time—in Taqdeer Ka Badshah, Subhash says, 'I cast him in the film despite our producer Ram Dayal not being very keen on it. But I told him that Mithun was very different from the other actors. His face and personality were unique." It was during the shooting of this film that Chakraborty confided in Subhash, expressing his concerns that his career might not take off the way he wanted.
Ranbir Kapoor work front:
The actor will be seen with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-anticipated 2026 film 'Love & War'. After filming in Mumbai, the team is set to shoot for about 15 days in Mhow, a town rich in military history that perfectly suits the film's pre-independence era setting.
Mhow, also called Dr Ambedkar Nagar, is located near Indore and was founded in 1818. Known for its British army base, the town was once the Military Headquarters of Warfare and still hosts important Indian Army training centres. This historic location offers authentic artillery and military backdrops that match the film's period look. A source said, 'The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions."
The film was officially announced in January 2024 via a signature poster featuring the lead trio—Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film marks Alia's second collaboration with Bhansali after the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi and Ranbir's reunion with the director after his 2007 debut Saawariya. Details of the plot are still under wraps, but anticipation around the film continues to grow with every update.
Allu Arjun Work Front:
Allu Arjun will next be seen in Atlee's AA22xA6, co-starring Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur. The film is aiming for a worldwide theatrical release in late 2026 or early 2027, across multiple languages.

Audio abusing Jr NTR not mine, says TDP MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad

Tirupati: Anantapur TDP legislator Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad has landed in controversy after alleged audio tapes surfaced in which he reportedly made derogatory remarks against prominent Tollywood actor Jr NTR . The audio, which went viral on various social media platforms on Sunday, sparked a strong backlash from the actor's fans. The tapes reportedly feature a conversation between Venkateswara Prasad and Anantapur TNSF president and NTR fans' association representative Gutha Dhananjay Naidu, allegedly recorded ahead of the release of the Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer War-2. In the conversation, the ruling party MLA purportedly makes offensive comments about Jr NTR and even threatens to halt the screening of War-2, which was scheduled for release on Aug 14 in theatres across Anantapur constituency. Following the leak, angry fans of Jr NTR staged protests at the MLA's office in Anantapur and tore down his posters and banners in several locations across the constituency. Despite the police arriving to control the situation, tensions remained high, with fans entering into heated altercations with law enforcement. Many fans, recalling their role in the MLA's victory during the 2024 general elections, questioned how he could make such remarks against Jr NTR and threaten the film's release. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Box Office: Coolie and War 2 ensure a bumper opening weekend in India; Rajinikanth, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR contribute Rs 430 crore in 4 days

Coolie and War 2 are the two latest releases of Indian cinema. While the Rajinikanth starrer is performing well, the latter is struggling to gain the much-needed traction. Since both movies were released on Thursday, they enjoyed a 4-day extended opening weekend. However, exhibitors are happy as both Independence Day releases have brought audiences back to the cinemas. Coolie and War 2 collectively rakes in Rs 430 crore during the Independence Day weekend Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened with Rs 75.50 crore. It further raked in Rs 63.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs 47.50 crore on Day 3. As per estimates, the movie stormed over Rs 44 crore on its Day 4, bringing the opening weekend cume to Rs 230 crore gross at the Indian box office. While on the other hand, War 2 kickstarted its box office run with Rs 59 crore on its opening day. It further collected Rs 67 crore on the Independence Day followed by Rs 38 crore on the third day. Estimates suggest the movie added another Rs 35 crore to the tally on its fourth day, bringing the opening weekend total to Rs 200 crore gross in India. Collectively, both Coolie and War 2 sums up Rs 430 crore gross at the domestic box office. Had both movies performed to their full potential, the combined figure would have easily surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark in the first weekend alone. Globally, both movies have clocked over the Rs 600 crore mark in the first four days of their theatrical runs. Coolie performs best down South, War 2 dominates the Northern belt Coolie fared best in its home turf along with Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In contrast, War 2 dominated the North India belt with a solid margin. Both Independence Day releases are expected to end their theatrical run on a similar figure in India, with Coolie leading the clash. However, the Lokesh Kanagaraj movie will maintain a big margin in the international markets. It will be interesting to see whether both of them collectively can reach the Rs 1000 crore mark globally, as none of them now can achieve the four-digit magical figure alone.
