Rana Daggubati joins hands with makers of Baahubali to back Ram Pothineni's next film
A fan of Ram Pothineni? Stream his films, Maska and Nenu Shailaja, on OTTplay Premium
As exciting as Andhra King Taluka is for Ram, he's also signed a new film with a debutant director Kishore that is being backed by Arka Media Works, the banner behind Baahubali, with popular actor Rana Daggubati presenting it in theatres. The project has been locked and will be announced soon. Ram Pothineni was not the first choice for the role
Interestingly, not long ago, it was heard that Kishore's film would have Naga Chaitanya in the lead, and pre-production had begun. A source close to the film has revealed to us that Naga Chaitanya decided against being a part of the film for reasons best known to him. The makers then approached Ram Pothineni, and he okayed the film right away.
Rana Daggubati and Naga Chaitanya are cousins and were quite excited about collaborating on the film, but sadly, the latter has walked out. On the other hand, Ram Pothineni is thrilled to work on a biggie that the makers of Baahubali are associated with. Director Kishore makes his debut with this film and has worked hard on the project for a long time now.
Though things have been delayed, with Ram Pothineni joining the project, things will soon take shape. As of now, Naga Chaitanya is busy working on his new film that is being directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, who last made Virupaksha with Sai Dharam Tej. More details about this project will be out soon.

T'gana minister calls for flexibility to end film workers' strike
Agency: Last Updated: August 11, 2025, 22:45 IST Representational image (Image: News18) Hyderabad, Aug 11 (PTI) Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has advised striking Telugu film workers and producers to be flexible in resolving their dispute, which has halted film shootings for about a week. Reddy held separate meetings with the representatives of workers who are on a strike demanding 30 per cent hike in wages and producers at the Secretariat here. Reddy expressed hope that an agreement would be reached and that shootings would resume by Wednesday, an official release said. He announced that a government committee would be formed to address their problems and that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is supportive of improving their living standards, potentially through housing initiatives. Reddy expressed sympathy with the problems of workers, but said they should understand the difficulties facing producers of small-budget films. The minister also reiterated the government's aspiration to develop Hyderabad into a 'global film hub'. Meanwhile, a representative of film workers federation told reporters that the minister assured to take steps to secure a fair wage hike for the workers and hoped that talks on Tuesday would yield a positive result. Meanwhile, a group of producers of small budget films highlighted the financial difficulties and other problems faced by them. Damodar Prasad, Secretary of Telugu Film Chamber, told PTI earlier that the workers 'unilaterally" decided to work only for producers, who pay them the increased wages though talks were ongoing with the involvement of the labour department. Swipe Left For Next Video View all He had said the Telugu film industry already pays higher wages to union workers than other state film industries. Alexander, a leader of the workers, had said on August 5 that the hike is not 30 per cent at once, but 10 per cent annually, which is due this year. However, the hike has not been effected since the last four months, he alleged. War 2 North America Advance Booking: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR's spy-actioner nears USD 450K mark for premieres
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and Jr NTR, is experiencing a significant surge in advance bookings. With 3 days away from release, the movie has recorded good pre-sales in North America. War 2 nears the USD 450K mark in North American pre-sales As of August 11 (9 AM), War 2 recorded over USD 398.5K of pre-sales by selling nearly 15,000 tickets in 1820 shows across 680 plus locations in the USA. The total pre-sales for the North American premiere, including Canada, reached USD 435K. The pre-bookings are expected to continue gaining momentum in the coming days and soon reach the USD 500K mark. The premiere day collections are likely to be in the vicinity of USD 900K in North America, depending on current trends and sales. War 2 falls short of better positioning and marketing Considering the fact that Hindi movies don't generally have premieres overseas, War 2 sales are reasonable. Given that NTR is playing a parallel lead in the film, the traction should have been much higher. War 2 is behaving like a Bollywood movie with a Telugu actor rather than a Telugu or Pan-India movie with two bona fide stars. Had it been marketed and positioned well, things would have been very different. War 2 is far behind Coolie's booking in North America. For the record, the Rajinikanth starrer has registered one of the best pre-sales in the USA and Canada for the premieres. As per the data at 9 AM on August 11, Coolie has already fetched a phenomenal USD 1.85 million. It is on the verge of crossing the USD 2 million mark for North American premieres. War 2 set for a grand clash with Coolie The YRF movie will have a box office battle with the Tamil-origin Pan-India movie, Coolie on August 14. While the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer will dominate the Hindi circuit, Rajinikanth's movie will establish a big lead in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will see an actual battle, with both sides showcasing their strengths and offering similar ticket prices. The Lokesh Kanagaraj movie is also expected to dominate War 2 in the International markets, based on the booking reports. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
