'Country music has been an important part of AMA history. The very first year of this show, the award for favorite male country artist went to the great Charlie Pride,' Shaboozey read from the teleprompter first.
Moroney was up next, reading, 'That same year, favorite female artist went to Lynn Anderson, and this award [favorite country duo or group] went to the Carter family, who basically invented country music.'
It was that last line that seemingly caught the 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' singer by surprise, as he appeared to give her a side eye before pausing to process what she said and letting out a laugh before proceeding to present the nominees in the category.
The Carter Family, considered 'the first family of country music,' according to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, was an American folk music group that produced a number of hits throughout the 1920s, '30s and '40s. Some of the songs included 'Wildwood Flower,' 'Wabash Cannonball,' 'Keep on the Sunny Side' and 'Can the Circle Be Unbroken.'
The 2025 American Music Awards, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, were held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Monday night. Billie Eilish, SZA, Beyoncé, Eminem, Post Malone, Becky G and Gracie Abrams were among the night's big winners. Check out the red carpet arrivals and the full winners list.

IBEW Touts 'Landmark' New Tentative Agreement With CBS
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the largest union representing CBS employees, has reached a new tentative agreement with the network that it calls a 'landmark' deal with 'one of the most significant wage packages in the nearly 90-year history of the relationship.' Alan Alda, Mike Farrell Among Those Paying Tribute to Loretta Swit: 'A Supremely Talented Actor'
Hollywood is paying tribute to Loretta Swit after news of her death was announced Friday. According to a police report, the M*A*S*H star died of suspected natural causes at her home in New York City, her publicist, Harlan Boll, announced. Renée Victor, Voice of Abuelita in ‘Coco,' Dies at 86
Renée Victor, the actress known for voicing Abuelita in Disney and Pixar's Coco and starring as Lupita in Showtime's Weeds, has died. She was 86. Victor died at her home in Sherman Oaks on Friday night surrounded by her family after a battle with lymphoma, her representative told The Hollywood Reporter. Victor worked alongside the likes of Xavier Cugat and Perez Prado, who helped popularize Latin music in the States before she and her husband began performing as the duo named 'Ray & Renée' from 1963 to 1973. She began her pivot into television in the 1970s when she hosted Pacesetters, a KTLA program that spotlighted the Chicano movement. We get to do it again,' she wrote, though the official cast for Coco 2 has not yet been confirm. 'This is what we've all been waiting for! I'm so excited! Following the news of her death, Pixar shared a statement in honor of Victor on Instagram.
