As the finals gets underway on Tuesday, here's a look at how the Shreyas Iyer-led franchise made the finals.
1. PBKS vs GT (PBKS won by 11 runs)
Punjab Kings got off to a winning start in the 2025 season in a high-scoring affair against Gujarat Titans. Putting up 243/5 on the board, GT faltered in the chase, falling short of the target by 11 runs. PBKS's massive total was largely owed to captain
Shreyas Iyer
's unbeaten 97 from 42 deliveries and a late show from Shashank Singh, scoring 44 from just 16 balls.
Iyer was named Player of the Match for his powerful knock.
2. LSG vs PBKS (PBKS won by 8 wickets)
After starting the season with an emphatic win, Punjab earned their second victory over Rishabh Pant's Lucknow Super Giants. With 172 runs needed to win, Punjab sealed the deal with a whopping 22 balls left. Prabhsimran Singh's 69 from 34 was compounded by Iyer's half-century and Nehal Wadhera's 43 from 25. Prabhsimran was named the Player of the Match.

3. PBKS vs RR (RR won by 50 runs)
After winning two in a row, PBKS fell painfully short against Rajasthan Royals. The 206 run target set by Rajasthan was too much of an ask for PBKS, as they only managed to put up 155 on the board. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag racked up the runs for RR, but it was Jofra Archer that took home the Player of the Match award for his 3/25.
4. PBKS vs CSK (PBKS won by 18 runs)
Capitalising on CSK's rough patch, PBKS added two more points to their tally with a win at New PCA Stadium.
Punjab defended their 219-run total, restricting CSK to 201 runs. Priyansh Arya was adjudged Player of the Match for an amazing century. His 103 from 42 balls helped Punjab cruise to victory.
5. PBKS vs SRH (SRH won by 8 wickets)
In what proved to be a difficult game, Punjab Kings fell to Sunrisers Hyderabad despite putting up a massive 245 runs on the board. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma plowed through PBKS's bowlers, sealing the deal before the end of the penultimate over.
Abhishek Sharma was handed the Player of the Match award for a relentless century that saw him rack up 141 from 55 balls.
6. PBKS vs KKR (PBKS won by 16 runs)
After a painful defeat against SRH, PBKS set a record for the lowest-ever total defended in the history of the competition. After being restricted to a meagre 111 runs, PBKS bowled out KKR for just 95 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal's spell of 4/28 earned him the Player of the Match award.

7. RCB vs PBKS (PBKS won by 5 wickets)
PBKS have already had the better of RCB in the league stage. With the game delayed by rain and subsequently reduced to 14 overs, RCB managed to post a total of 95. PBKS claimed the win with 11 balls left and 5 wickets to spare. Despite being on the losing side, RCB's Tim David was named as the Player of the Match for his half-century off 26 balls.
8. PBKS vs RCB (RCB won by 7 wickets)
With defeat fresh on their minds, RCB claimed revenge over PBKS.
With just a two-day gap between the previous game, RCB managed a seven-wicket win after posting a target of 158, with the whole 20 overs being played this time. Virat Kohli was named Player of the Match for his impressive 73-run display.
9. PBKS vs KKR (abandoned)
With the game against KKR abandoned, both teams pocketed one point apiece. PBKS set a target of 202, courtesy of their opening pair of Priyansh Arya (69 off 35) and Prabhsimran Singh (83 0ff 49), before rain put a halt to proceedings.
The game was suspended just one over into KKR's innings, when the three-time champions had accumulated just 7 runs.
10. CSK vs PBKS (PBKS won by 4 wickets)
CSK's Sam Curran and Dewald Brewis combined to put up 190 runs, before a thunderous display from Prabhsimram Singh (54 from 36) and Shreyas Iyer's 72 from 41 earned the visitors a win. Shreyas was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stellar knock, while Arshdeep Singh also impressed for Punjab with two wickets in 3.2 overs while conceding just 25 runs.

11. PBKS vs LSG (PBKS won by 37 runs)
In game where Punjab put 236 on the board, opener Prabhsimran Singh took center stage with a stellar 91 runs from 48 deliveries. The PBKS batter was also handed the Player of the Match award for his sublime knock in Dharamsala. LSG's Ayush Badoni put up a valiant fight, although his 74 from 40 proved futile in a game where LSG fell short by 37 runs.
12. PBKS vs RR (PBKS won by 10 runs)
PBKS continued their relentless march to the IPL playoffs with a win over Rajasthan Royals.
PBKS middle order produced the goods with Nehal Wadhera's 70 off 37 and Shashank Singh's 59 run cameo made sure that Punjab's total of 219 was too much of an ask for Rajasthan. Harpreet Brar's 3/22 earned him the Player of the Match.
13. PBKS vs DC (DC won by 6 wickets)
In a replay of the game that was abandoned due to a security threat, Delhi Capitals clinched a win in Jaipur. PBKS put up 206 on the board thanks to a Shreyas Iyer's half-century and a powerful cameo from Marcus Stoinis that saw him rack up 40 runs from just 16 deliveries.
However, the DC batting unit powered through Punjab's bowlers, clinching the win with three balls left. Sameer Rizvi of DC was awarded Player of the Match for his 58 runs in 25 deliveries.

15. MI vs PBKS (PBKS won by 7 wickets)
In the chase, PBKS earned a seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians after the five-time champions put up 184. PBKS chased down the target in 18.3 overs, thanks to an explosive innings from opener Priyansh Arya and Australian wicketkeeper-batter Jos Inglis.
The latter's trailblazing knock of 73 from 42 balls ensured that Punjab ended their league campaign with a win and eventually took top spot.
16. RCB vs PBKS (RCB won by 8 wickets)
Punjab Kings got trashed by RCB in Qualifier 1 who secured a direct ticket to the final.
In a dominant display, Bengaluru bowled out PBKS for just 101 runs, showcasing their depth and discipline with the ball. The modest target was chased down in just 10 overs, with opener Phil Salt smashing an unbeaten 57 off 26 deliveries, guiding the RCB home.
17. MI vs PBKS (PBKS won by 5 wickets)
The Punjab Kings qualified for the IPL final for just the second time in their history, ending an 11-year drought with a win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. Chasing a challenging target of 204, PBKS sealed victory in 19 overs, riding on a magnificent unbeaten 87 off 41 balls from captain Shreyas Iyer.

RCB chased mismanaged KKR star hard; blames Kolkata for his disastrous IPL return: 'If he came and played for us…'
There was certainly an increase in expectation from India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, when his auction value soared to INR 23.75 crore on the opening day of the mega event in Riyadh last November, an increment of 1087.5 per cent from his base price of INR 2 crore. It further peaked with Kolkata Knight Riders announcing him the vice-captain. Alas, it met the same brutal fate. Succumbed under the pressure, he managed just 142 runs in 11 innings, resulting in a disastrous season. However, Andy Flower, under whom the Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their maiden IPL title this year, claimed Iyer would have performed better had he been in RCB. The last bid price for Iyer, before KKR roped him in, was INR 23.50 crore, which came from RCB. It was among the biggest the franchise ever bid for a player at an auction, thus showing their desperation to acquire the India batter. Although the capital was later used to acquire two match winners who played an instrumental role in their title triumph, Flower, speaking to the media, recalled RCB's plans for Iyer as he subtly blamed Kolkata for mishandling him. "We really rated Venky; that's why we went hard for him. We valued having a strong Indian core for our team. If he came and played for us, he would have had a really great season," he said. Bengaluru had used the exactly same amount to rope in Josh Hazlewood for INR 12.50 crore and Phil Salt for INR 11.50 crore, before strengthen their unit with two other first XI certainties - Jitesh Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. And all four of them helped RCB claim their maiden IPL title in 18 years. Speaking to the broadcasters, veteran India batter Abhinav Mukund believed it was a lucky escape for the RCB. "In hindsight, they must be thinking, thank God we didn't go all the way from Venkatesh Iyer. Because their last losing bid was Venkatesh Iyer. And the next three buys were Josh Hazlewood, Jitesh Sharma and I think Phil Salt. Those were the next three buys. And they saved so much in the bank for day two when Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in. So, it was a very clear plan that they wanted to buy all of these players," he said.

However, the main responsibility lies on local authorities and the state government, who have ordered an inquiry into the matter. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

"Received Flak After Auction...": RCB Coach's Ultimate Response To Critics After IPL 2025 Triumph
Acquiring a lethal bowling attack in the mega auction and picking players with experience were "huge first steps" in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's march to their maiden IPL title, said head coach Andy Flower. RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in the final here on Tuesday to end their long wait in the 18th edition of the tournament, and Flower said it all began with the franchise making the right moves in the auction last year. "The auction is a huge first step that you've got to try and get as right as possible and (as a) part of (team director) Mo's (Mo Bobat) philosophy right up front, was to distribute the value a little more equitably rather than spending too much on big-name batsmen who are, of course, very fine players," Flower told the media after RCB's title win. "The importance of a good bowling attack was acknowledged absolutely adamantly right at the start before the auction and we worked towards that." The win also helped batting great Virat Kohli fulfil his dream of winning an IPL title. "I know after the first day of the auction, we were copping a little bit of flak. People thought that we were investing our money rather than spending it. But it meant that there was some really good value to be had on the second day," the former Zimbabwe captain said. Flower counted the players RCB added to their roster during the auction in November at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. "We had the money to then spend on that value. We got guys like Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Krunal (Pandya), Tim David, Romario Shepherd on that second day so that was really important," he said. "Suyash Sharma has done really well for us — our little leg spinner. I thought he has handled himself really well through the season. "Krunal is a big match player and a great competitor and that spell today (Tuesday) was the major difference between the teams," said Flower of Pandya, who returned match-winning figures of 4-0-17-2. Flower said having players with experience of competing in big matches also came in handy for RCB. "We talked about that yesterday when we were in our planning meetings and earlier this evening in the huddle before the game started. We had a good group of experienced cricketers in our team," he said. "Guys like, obviously, Virat (Kohli), (Josh) Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya, a big part of their recruitment was their experience. Hazlewood has played in World Cup finals before. He has played in big matches and big tournaments, as has Virat. "Krunal, this is his fourth IPL win so it was crucial recruiting them in the first place. The auction is a huge step in the right direction if you can get it right," Flower added. He said the total of 190/9 wasn't a huge score but they trusted their bowling attack to deliver on the night. "Yes, 190 didn't seem like a huge score at this ground. As you know, like an average winning score this season is 220 or something," he said. "I wouldn't say it was below par, because in a final to go and score 190, you've still got to play really well. We have got a good bowling attack and we trusted that the bowlers would come to the party in that second innings," he said. Flower acknowledged Dinesh Karthik's role as team mentor cum batting coach. "Indian insight and knowledge in our coaching staff has been really important for this campaign this year. DK, particularly, as a mentor and a batting specialist, he's been brilliant," Flower said. "It's quite a transition to make from playing to coaching, and he has done it amazingly well, and it's very obvious that he has had an impact, certainly on the batting group," he said. Flower said while the pitch had a little bit of moisture, it made batting a bit difficult for the RCB batters. "There was a little bit of moisture in the pitch initially and it held up a little, so that made batting a little bit tricky for us in the first innings. We would have bowled first if we had won the toss," he said. "It might have felt a little slow to a lot of people. But there were little cameos along the way from a lot of our batting group. Good, aggressive little cameos that took us to 190." "(A score of) 190 is a big chase when the pressure of winning the cup is on. So, even though we lost the toss, we handled ourselves really well," Flower added.
