Aaron Judge Issues Strong Statement After Yankees' Sixth Straight Loss
Aaron Judge Issues Strong Statement After Yankees' Sixth Straight Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New York Yankees have been one of the most formidable teams this season, currently holding a 42-31 record and sitting atop the AL East. Their success has been driven by a balanced lineup that ranks second in MLB in both on-base percentage and home runs, accumulating 5.1 runs per game.

The Yankees' offensive firepower is largely attributed to superstar Aaron Judge, whose presence in the lineup has transformed the club's approach at the plate, offering protection for the hitters around him.
However, in the midst of a six-game slide, that offensive production has disappeared as the six-time All-Star has reached base just twice since the beginning of the weekend rivalry series against the Boston Red Sox. As a result, the Yankees have struggled mightily enduring a 30-inning scoreless streak, including two shutouts against the sub .500 Los Angeles Angels.

After an Anthony Volpe late inning error on Wednesday, the Yankees have officially dropped their sixth straight game, and the Tampa Bay Rays only trail them by 1.5 games.

Judge offered his take on the current adversity his squad is facing as the All-Star break approaches.
'You play 162, you're gonna hit a little rut like this,' he said. 'But you can't give up. You can't mope about it.'
The slumping superstar's numbers this season still have him as the front runner for another American League MVP, as he's batting .366 with 26 home runs and 60 RBIs across 73 games for the first place Yankees.
Judge's comments suggest better days are ahead for the Bronx Bombers throughout the length of a 162-game season.

Mosley, who turned 33 on June 19, highlighted and recapped his entire career in the Instagram video. The reel included pictures of himself playing youth football and video of his commitment to Alabama at the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. It progressed through when the Baltimore Ravens drafted him in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and his signing with the New York Jets in free agency in 2019. Advertisement As the video reached the present, showing footage of his time with the Jets, Mosley said in the voiceover, "Now it's time to start a new chapter with new dreams." JETS NEWS: Team signs kicker Harrison Mevis after 2025 stint with UFL's Stallions CBS Sports confirmed Mosley's retirement. The former first-round pick played 10 seasons in the NFL over 11 years – he opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mosley, a two-time national champion with Alabama, played the first five years of his career with the Ravens before signing with the Jets in free agency in 2019. He was voted the Jets' defensive captain in each of the five seasons he played in New York. Advertisement In 2024, Mosley signed a restructured contract extension that was set to keep him with Gang Green through 2025. Toe and neck injuries limited Mosley to four games last season, and the Jets released him in March. The linebacker did not sign with a team in free agency, deciding instead to hang up his cleats. Over his 10-year career, Mosley accumulated 1,083 tackles, 12 sacks, 53 passes defensed, 12 interceptions and 10 forced fumbles. He was a Pro Bowl selection five times and also earned second-team All-Pro honors in each of those Pro Bowl seasons. This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: C.J. Red Sox Make Roster Announcement After Rafael Devers Trade
Red Sox Make Roster Announcement After Rafael Devers Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One door closes in Boston Red Sox land, and another is nearly open once again. Less than 48 hours after the Red Sox announced a stunning Rafael Devers blockbuster trade, the club had another, less exciting move. Boston sent right fielder Wilyer Abreu to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday so he can begin a rehab assignment for a left oblique strain. Advertisement Abreu, who turns 26 on June 24, hurt himself during a recent road trip in New York. Although the Red Sox initially hoped to limit his workload, the club eventually placed him on the injured list and promoted top outfield prospect Roman Anthony. Barring a setback, Abreu is expected to rejoin the club later this week. Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer AbreuRick Osentoski-Imagn Images Abreu hit .245 with 13 home runs, 32 RBI, and a .792 OPS in his first 64 games. Although he's only tallied eight doubles after recording 33 last year, he's significantly cut down on his strikeouts; Abreu's 23.1 strikeout percentage is nearly 5% lower than last year. Abreu has quietly been one of Boston's most valuable players, entering Tuesday ranked fourth among active Red Sox hitters with 1.7 bWAR. Devers ranked fourth overall with 2.3 bWAR, though he's obviously now in San Francisco. Advertisement Boston (38-36) enters Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners riding a six-game winning streak, and they've pulled within 5 1/2 games of first place in the AL East. The Red Sox hold a half-game lead over the Mariners and Minnesota Twins for the AL's third and final Wild Card spot. Red Sox Announce Lineup Change After Rafael Devers Trade
Red Sox Announce Lineup Change After Rafael Devers Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. At least for the season's first few months, Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora knew he could pencil Rafael Devers in at DH and Ceddanne Rafaela as his center fielder every day. Advertisement Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners lacks both players, albeit for vastly different reasons. Devers recorded two hits in his San Francisco Giants debut on Tuesday night, though the Cleveland Guardians nonetheless snagged a 3-2 victory. Rafaela, on the other hand, is simply sitting out Wednesday's series finale against the Seattle Mariners. Cora opted to start rookie Kristian Campbell in center field instead. Boston Red Sox outfielder Ceddanne RafaelaBrian Fluharty-Imagn Images Rafaela has quietly been a major piece for the 38-37 Red Sox, entering Wednesday with 2.3 bWAR over 70 games. A third-year utilityman who found a home in center field, Rafaela owns a .247 average with six home runs, 26 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. Advertisement Rafaela isn't the most imposing hitter, and his .681 OPS ranks well below the league average of .712. However, he's grown into a reliable starter for a Red Sox team chasing only its second postseason appearance since 2019. The Red Sox trail the Mariners by half a game for the AL's third and final Wild Card spot. Boston is 10-5 in June despite only outscoring opponents 75-70.
