Coaches clash as hopefuls compete
This season's format has 16 contestants dubbed the 'Future Greats' - divided into teams of four, each mentored by a WWE legend. Each week, coaches earn points if a team member is declared a standout. The ultimate goal for the legends is the LFG Championship Belt, while the Future Greats are battling for a WWE NXT contract.
Returning names include Zena Sterling, Elijah Holyfield, and Dani Raye, alongside fresh faces like former NFL player Trill London and standout newcomer Summer Sorrell.

Urdu writers urged to give greater voice to tribal life
Gaya: Participants at a seminar in Gaya on Tuesday agreed that tribal life and culture have been insufficiently represented in Urdu literature, particularly in fiction. They stressed that the genre has largely overlooked the lives, traditions and struggles of tribal communities, especially those in neighbouring Jharkhand, and called for a more authentic and serious portrayal. Chandra Bhan, representing the Delhi-based Sahitya Academy, said tribals were an integral part of the Indian cultural ethos. "Without tribals, the Indian national mosaic would not look the way it should be depicted," he said, adding that whatever little had been written "lacked originality as it was mostly second-hand." He expressed hope that a new generation of Urdu writers would address the gap by depicting the many dimensions of tribal life — from folk tales, music and paintings to qualities such as simplicity, love for nature and contentment despite limited opportunities. Masoom Aziz Kazmi, a critic and historian of Urdu literature, concurred that both Urdu prose and poetry had failed to give due space to tribal themes. "Whatever little has been done in this respect has not been properly appreciated, propagated and documented," he said. Kazmi, a retired IG-rank police officer, cited the novel 'Hasrat-e-Tamir' by the late Akhtar Orainvi, praising its depiction of "different shades of tribal life including its simplicity, honesty, commitment, love for nature" and its portrayal of tribals as aspirational without being consumed by jealousy or greed. Humayun Ashraf, former head of the Urdu department at Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, said writings on tribal issues had not received due acknowledgement. He highlighted works by Sohail Azimabadi, Akhtar Orainvi, Iliyas Ahmad Gaddi, Zakia Mashhadi, Zaki Anwar, Perwez Hayat and Ahmad Saghir, and pointed out that gender parity and women's empowerment were often stronger among tribals than in other communities. The seminar, titled "The reflection of tribal life and culture in Urdu literature, particularly Urdu fiction writing," was jointly organised by the Sahitya Academy — the apex body of Indian literature under the Union Ministry of Culture — and the postgraduate department of Urdu, Gaya College. Abdul Hai, head of the postgraduate department of Urdu, delivered the vote of thanks while Gaya College vice-principal Bibha Singh presided over the inaugural session. Has Karrion Kross been released by the WWE? Explaining the controversy surrounding his status with the promotion
Karrion Kross on August 11 confirmed that he is no longer with the WWE and added that he will soon be taking independent booking. Scarlett, his wife and manager, too has apparently been let go by the company. While this seems to be legit, there may be more to the situation. Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer has stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that everyone backstage is 'skeptical' about whether this is a shoot. This suggests that the whole thing may just be work. He had also earlier stated that WWE offered Kross and Scarlett contracts ahead of the end of their current deals. This has further added to the mystery surrounding their status. Karrion Kross released: Is it a work? WWE, like most pro wrestling companies, is a storyline-driven product. In fact, the whole business thrives on Kayfabe (making things that aren't real look real). Keeping this in mind, the scenario may just be WWE's way of testing his popularity and bringing him back when the time is right. If this happens, the angle may have shades of the recent fiasco involving R-Truth. In case you did not know, 'Ronnie' was released by the WWE a few months ago. He, however, returned at Money in the Bank and helped Cody Rhodes-Jey Uso beat Logan Paul and John Cena. This came after the company faced intense backlash from fans. Triple H, the head of WWE's creative team, described it as a work, but Truth maintained it wasn't. Going down this route would help the company bring him back as a face and give him a push. Karrion Kross to return as a heel? The WWE in recent years has constantly tried to blur the line between reality and storyline. The injury angle with Seth Rollins is a case in point. 'The Visionary' lost his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event after 'injuring' his knee. This was described as a legitimate setback and Rollins was even seen on crutches backstage during Evolution. However, it was eventually revealed that he wasn't injured. The injury was part of a storyline and he returned at SummerSlam Night 1 to cash-in his MITB contract on a vulnerable CM Punk. This again suggests that the Karrion Kross contract situation may just be another angle. In this case, he could return as a heel and target some popular stars. Karrion Kross' rise in the WWE is undeniable Kross had emerged as a bankable mid-card heel over the last few months courtesy of his mic skills. His segments with AJ Styles and Sami Zayn were well-received. He also received a push when he squared off against the Canadian star at Night of Champions and SummerSlam, losing on both occasions. His stint with the WWE is seemingly over for now but the company's track record suggests that there may be a twist in the tale.

Hrithik Roshan & Jr NTR in Janaab-e-Aali is exactly what a dance-off should not be
It is a shame that Hrithik, who inspired a whole generation to dance, making every song of his the epitome of 'cool', fails to make a mark with his performance in this song. Forget comparing it with classics like his debut with Ek Pal Ka Jeena in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000) or the slick title track of Dhoom 2 (2006), it does not even come close to Ghungroo of War (2019). Will this song play in clubs and make people hit a PR in gyms or become the favourite of sangeet performances? Absolutely not. Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR coming together on the dance floor should have been the personification of the fire emoji, but their latest song Janaab-e- Aali from War 2 is as lukewarm as it gets. The teaser, featuring two excellent dancers, is so yawn-worthy that you forget it the moment the video is over. People broke their legs trying to imitate the hook step of Naatu Naatu from RRR (2022), when Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem showed a British fellow how to dance and made the world shake a leg. But this latest song, where he has Hrithik in tow, is not good enough to press the rewatch button. 'Disappointing' does not quite sum up the experience of watching Janaab-e-Aali. It makes one miss Tiger Shroff dancing with Hrithik on Jai Jai Shivshankar. Even though that was not the gold standard of dance-offs, the bar is low right now. Make it rivals' dance-off, and there are extra brownie points. In the '90s, we had Karan (Akshay Kumar) and Deepak (Saif Ali Khan) grooving to the title track of Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994). Pooja ( Karisma Kapoor) and Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) danced off to instrumental music in Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). Five years later, it was Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi along with Aishwarya Rai as Paro in Dola Re Dola of Devdas (2002) making every girl drape a red and white saree, replicating the hook step. But the choreographers of Janaab-e-Aali do not even need to go back two decades in history for inspiration. In 2015, Sanjay Leela Bhansali added Pinga to the list of iconic dance-offs when Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) and Mastani (Deepika Padukone) made everyone dance in nauvari saree. Last year, with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, we got the third dance-off featuring Madhuri with Vidya Balan in Ami Je Tomar 3.0. Janaab-e-Aali seems to be offering confused nostalgia. The footwork is a mishmash of both Ghungroo and Naatu Naatu, and yet looks unappealing. The production designers took a leaf out of Jai jai Shivshankar, and the lyrics are just bad. This is definitely not the dance-off that has the potential to make audiences race to theatres, just to watch the two actors groove together. A good dance-off is not about finding or adding the latest dance trends or complicated techniques; it should be about making even the non-dancers groove. Janaab-e-Aali makes one want to retreat to the farthest corner of the dance floor and furiously grab the remote to find a good song. Views are personal. (Edited by Aamaan Alam Khan)
