US Poll Shows Majority Support Recognition of Palestinian State
Israa Farhan A new Reuters/Ipsos poll has revealed that 58 percent of Americans believe all United Nations member states should recognize Palestine as an independent state. The findings come as Israel and Hamas weigh the possibility of a ceasefire in the conflict that has raged for nearly two years. The six-day survey, which concluded last Monday, coincided with announcements from Canada, Britain, and France confirming their plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state. This diplomatic shift has added further pressure on Israel amid worsening hunger and humanitarian conditions in Gaza. International attention remains fixed on whether Israel and Hamas can finalize a deal for a 60-day ceasefire. Such an agreement would halt hostilities, enable the release of around half of the remaining Israeli hostages, and open the way for increased humanitarian aid deliveries. Several allies of the United States, including Britain, Canada, and Australia, warned last week that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels. Relief organizations have echoed these concerns, warning that the enclave's population is on the brink of famine. The UN Human Rights Office has stated that Israel is not allowing sufficient supplies into Gaza to prevent widespread hunger. Israel, however, rejects responsibility, claiming that Hamas has diverted aid shipments. The poll found that 65 percent of Americans believe the United States should take direct measures to help civilians in Gaza facing starvation, while 28 percent opposed such action. Furthermore, 59 percent of respondents said Israel's military response in Gaza has been excessive, compared with 33 percent who disagreed. In a similar Ipsos survey conducted in February 2024, 53 percent considered Israel's actions excessive, while 42 percent disagreed. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Palestinians Attack Israeli Army Position in Rafah, Casualties Reported
Ahmed Emam Armed Palestinian militants attacked an Israeli military position belonging to the Kfir Brigade in the southern Gaza city of Rafah on Wednesday, according to Israeli media. The attack triggered clashes in the area, and Israeli army helicopters were deployed to evacuate wounded soldiers. While no official figures have been released, local media reported several casualties among Israeli troops. The Israeli military said it was investigating the incident and vowed to continue its operations in Rafah, which has been a focal point of fighting in recent weeks. Arab League Hosts Arab-Japanese Youth Forum
Mohamed Mandour The Arab League hosted the first Arab-Japanese Youth Forum at its Cairo headquarters, highlighting cultural dialogue as a pillar of stronger ties between the Arab world and Japan. The gathering came as Japan reaffirmed its $230 million humanitarian aid package for Palestine. Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, Japan's envoy to Egypt, said youth dialogue was essential to advancing mutual understanding. 'Young people are the leaders of the future who will take Arab-Japanese relations to broader horizons,' he told participants. He added that Japan remained deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, praising the Arab League's efforts to push for a ceasefire. Since October 2023, Tokyo has provided $230 million in aid for health, food, and financial support to the Palestinian Authority, he said, stressing Japan's support for a two-state solution. The forum brought together about 20 Arab youth and 13 Japanese participants, including young diplomats and students of Arabic in Egypt. The ambassador noted that cultural and educational exchanges stem from a 2013 memorandum of understanding with the Arab League, which has led to language programs, training opportunities, and exchanges for young diplomats. From the Arab League side, Assistant Secretary-General Mohamed Saleh Suleiman Al-Ajiri underscored the importance of cultural dialogue as a foundation for Arab-Japanese cooperation. 'This forum marks the first time such a gathering is held at the League's headquarters in Cairo, reflecting our commitment to deepening cultural bridges,' he said. Al-Ajiri recalled that cooperation with Japan has expanded steadily since the launch of the Arab-Japanese Economic Forum in 2009, followed by ministerial political dialogue in 2013 and the signing of a memorandum of cooperation later that year. Recent Arab League resolutions, including one in April, reaffirmed member states' commitment to strengthening ties with Japan across political, economic, social, and cultural fields. He added that training programs, exchange visits, and internships for young Arab students demonstrate the depth of collaboration. 'This forum aims to introduce Arab and Japanese youth to each other's cultures and expand areas of closeness,' Al-Ajiri said, expressing hope the meeting would yield practical recommendations to sustain dialogue. Both sides emphasized that youth engagement and cultural exchange remain central to building a brighter future for Arab-Japanese relations. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
