Jenna Bush Hager talks to News 2 about new book, upcoming visit to Charleston
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Today Show anchor Jenna Bush Hager is not only a lover of reading books, but she also has a passion for writing them. She has teamed up with her twin sister, Barbara Pierce, to co-write children's books.
Their latest, 'I Loved You First,' will be released next Tuesday; however, Jenna Bush Hager joined News 2 to discuss the new book before it is released and to highlight her upcoming trip to Charleston with her sister.
Jenna and Barbara will host a story time at 5:30 p.m. on March 27 in Hanahan Hall at Grace Church Cathedral.
Following the story time, 'An Evening with Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush' will feature the sisters discussing their love of reading and the writing process in the main cathedral.
The special events are in partnership with Buxton Books and the Charleston Library Society.
The book is a tribute to the bond between a parent and child. Hager talked about how the two balanced their voices when co-writing the book.
'You know, this is not our first project together. We've kind of done this a few times, so we have a mode of working together. I mean, one of the things we do is when we're on book tour, we're like, you know, somebody will come up and be like, Oh, I loved your book on sisterhood, but what about a book about, you know, that I could give to somebody becoming a new mom and that it always gives us ideas. So we usually write our current book on our last book tour. And so, we wrote this, we brainstormed it. It's really a tribute to what it feels like to be a parent and to see the world through our kids' eyes.'
She said the book is a tribute to their parents and their children. 'I think it made perfect sense because I have three kids. Barbara just became a mom to her second baby. And so, it's really what's on our mind right now, which is just how grateful we are that we have these babies in our life.'
Hager was in Charleston last fall helping to promote the Book Drop, which is an innovative community library program. She'll be back this spring to raise awareness for the Book Drop while also sharing the story behind their latest book.
'I'm obsessed with Charleston,' she said. 'It's one of the greatest American cities. I have a lot of friends there, which is really fun. But of course, and this feels cliche, but it's only cliche because it's true, my favorite thing to do in Charleston is to eat.'
She's looking forward to visiting the city with her sister for the first time together.
'I was like, okay, Barbara, I have everywhere we're going to go eat. I have the biscuits picked out. I know the oysters. We're going to also eat. So, it's really fun. I mean, the book tour is so fun to get to travel around our country for a brief period but with my sister.'

Beauty Editor Shirley Lord Reflects on 60 Years of Friendship with Leonard Lauder
Vogue Contributing Editor Shirley Lord has been a beauty editor and author for almost eight decades, beginning her career on Fleet Street at 17 years old. She was the Beauty Director of American Vogue for 16 years and was close with Leonard Lauder for over half a century. Following his death on June 15th, she wrote a reminiscence for Vogue. I first met Leonard Lauder and his vivacious, adorable wife, Evelyn, in my London home—was it fifty, sixty years ago? Not sure of the date, but certain, as Beauty Director of British Harper's Bazaar and a columnist for London's newspaper, The Evening Standard, none of us dreamed I would cross the pond and eventually become Beauty Director of American Vogue and an American citizen! That evening, so long ago, my two sons were young, and Leonard especially was thrilled they bounced into the sitting room, upsetting the hors d'oeuvres and having a mock (or was it so mock) fight together. 'Just like our kids back home,' he said warmly, relaxing even more into the sofa. Leonard was very much a family man, and that very much included being a model son to his parents, Joe and Estée Lauder. In fact, at the time Joe and Estée had separated, but Joe having heard that little Leonard was battling an infection, had dropped by to visit—and never went home! I didn't comprehend, along with the majority of Lauder fans, that right from the beginning of the Lauder empire, the decision was made between mother and son, that Leonard would run the company completely, building the Estée Lauder name while his mother would represent it. He told me once that he had to make it clear to his mother that all business decisions had to be his and there could never be any discussion or certainly any disagreement about it. Leonard introduced brilliant marketing ideas that we take for granted today: 'gift with purchase,' special packaging for Christmas, Easter, spring and summer, seasonal makeup. I remember a cross phone call from Leonard after l'd had lunch with his mother: 'Please don't give my mother any ideas for products! That can throw our year's budget totally in turmoil.' I didn't realize then that for every product, the budget included the cost of the electric light used in the factory to make it. Estée and I became very close, but I never dared to come close to any product suggestions again. Over the years, Leonard came into the Vogue office a few times to talk about the business of cosmetics—not just to the beauty department, but to the whole staff and he asked as many questions as he answered—about how we operated and gathered information. As the Vogue staff concurred, he was so approachable, warm and witty, we all wished he could be our boss or at least one of them!

Ryan Murphy's 'American Love Story' finds its JFK Jr., Carolyn Bessette: See photos
Ryan Murphy's 'American Love Story' finds its JFK Jr., Carolyn Bessette: See photos Show Caption Hide Caption Erik Menendez slams Ryan Murphy show for 'caricature' of his brother 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story' has drawn ire from one of its subjects. Ryan Murphy's "American Love Story" will follow one of the country's most famous — and tragic — romances: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. In Instagram photographs posted by Murphy's production company June 13, actors Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Kelly are pictured in full glam and costume as the son of 35th American president John F. Kennedy and the fashion publicist, who married in 1996 and both died in a plane crash in 1999. Their romance will be the subject the Hollywood heavyweight's latest buzzy anthology series for FX. Murphy's production company captioned the photo carousel, "FIRST LOOK! 📸 Here are some stills from our LOVE STORY camera test. We started shooting this week in New York City and can't wait until you see the romantic and tragic love story between America's prince, JFK Jr., and fashion icon Carolyn Bessette—out Valentine's Day week of 2026." The caption continued: "I am thrilled to introduce you to Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn and Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. Over a thousand actors auditioned for each of these roles, and we absolutely found the perfect choices." Two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts − who worked with Pidgeon before in 2024 film "The Friend" film − is set to play Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy Onassis in the series. Murphy also congratulated Pidgeon and Kelly on their roles in the post, which received a more tepid response from JFK Jr.'s nephew Jack Schlossberg, the son of Caroline Kennedy. In his comment, Schlossberg wrote "HEY RYAN — admiration for John is great but maybe consider DONATING PROFITS TO THE KENNEDY LIBRARY thanks" in reference to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston. Murphy replied, "I absolutely will." Other commenters were unimpressed, specifically with Bessette's portrayal: "Why is her hair platinum though? Lol." Another Instagram user said that Bessette "would never wear this" in response to the brown trench coat Pidgeon sported in the photos. A fan account @allforcarolyn which posts archival content of Bessette commented "take out the earrings" that Pidgeon wore. Actor and producer Mindy Kaling, seemingly impressed by the casting, simply commented "Wow." The first "Love Story" installment will follow in the footsteps of Murphy's other FX anthologies "American Crime Story," "American Sports Story" and "American Horror Story." The end of the Kennedys' love story shocked the world when they died in a plane crash alongside Bessette-Kennedy's sister, Lauren Bessette. The former first son was piloting the aircraft when it crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Martha's Vineyard in 1999. The couple became tabloid fodder when the publisher and Calvin Klein publicist met at his fitting for the brand in 1992. In recent years, Bessette's fashion has found a new following — particularly on TikTok — as a new generation fawns over her simple but chic wardrobe.

Jenna Bush Hager Reveals New Bob Haircut Inspired by Leslie Bibb — See Her Dramatic Hair Transformation!
Jenna Bush Hager debuted a brand-new hairstyle live on TV — and the new look is modeled after Leslie Bibb's short blonde bob in The White Lotus On the Tuesday, June 17, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends, Bush Hager joked with Bibb that she felt like she was copying her look Bush Hager said that her three kids weren't a fan of the new haircut, but her husband said that she looked "hot"Jenna Bush Hager is debuting her brand-new look — live on TV! On the Tuesday, June 17, episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, Bush Hager, 43, dramatically revealed her new bob hairstyle, inspired by actress Leslie Bibb's short, blonde look in The White Lotus. "This is my hair," Bush Hager announced as she walked on stage with Bibb, who served as a guest co-host for the episode. When they sat at the desk, Bush Hager reflected on the change to her appearance: "I feel a little... You know that '90s movie Single White Female, where you try to copy somebody to such an extent? You made this haircut so famous, and then I used your hairstylist, who is a star, to get the exact same haircut, and I'm feeling a little strange." Bibb was quick to reply, saying, "You don't look strange. You look sexy and powerful and glamorous. And I kept saying it yesterday — you're a badass." Her co-host was a fan of the look. However, the mom of three revealed that her kids weren't as thrilled. She aired a video of herself debuting her new look to her kids, who said that they were not fans. One of her daughters even ran off pretending to cry, which Bush Hager said was "our love language." "The best thing is my husband [Henry Hager] did like it. He was like, 'D--- that's hot.' Which was sweet," Bush Hager said, adding that he defended her when one of her girls said that she didn't like the new cut. Bibb proclaimed that Hager said the "best thing" in response to her daughter: "He was like, 'She don't know fashion.' " "I felt lighter. There's a lot of change happening, and I feel a little embarrassed by the attention. Which I know, the people who work with me are like, 'Mother loves attention,' But I felt a little embarrassed," she said, prompting Bibb to reply that she was displaying vulnerability, which was powerful. On the June 16 episode of the morning talk show, Bibb herself and celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan stopped by to discuss Bush Hager's hair — and McMillan stepped up to cut her hair live on TV, although they saved the reveal for June 17. "When I was here back in March, Jenna vowed to get on board with the bob, and today is the day," Bibb told the audience. In the episode, Bush Hager spoke about McMillan's background in celebrity hair — and the group discussed how Bibb's White Lotus haircut was so influential that it inspired viewers of the show to chop their own hair. "I didn't expect it [to go viral] because it was just a grow out of a short haircut," McMillan told Bush Hager on Monday. "The intention wasn't to give her a bob, it was to grow her out into a bob." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories! While Bush Hager has mainly rocked her well-known long, dirty blonde hairstyle for much of her adult life, she's switched up her look a few times. In May, the mom-of-three also hilariously recounted her experience losing a clip-in extension while at Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour because she was dancing so hard. During the episode, her co-host Justin Sylvester produced one of Bush Hager's temporary extensions and said, "It's one of your clip-in extensions. Security gave it to me last night when we were walking out. Because the baby girl was dancing so hard, she lost a clip-in at 'Single Ladies.' So, yeah, let's talk about being hungover." In 2020, she pulled a somewhat similar live TV stunt soon after lockdown began. At the time, she shared that she had been spending a few weeks social distancing at home and was unable to go to the hair salon to get her roots done, so she decided to take matters into her own hands by inviting celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton on for a Zoom lesson on how to do a temporary powder root cover-up. 'Some people would wonder why you would do this, but I guess if you have an important Zoom meeting or maybe a family birthday or something or maybe just to make your husband feel uncomfortable on television,' Bush Hager joked, referencing her how her husband Harry Hager was assisting her with the process.
