Derby County signs US forward Patrick Agyemang from MLS' Charlotte
The 24-year-old Agyemang scored eight goals in 18 appearances during the first half of Charlotte's current season before adding two more for the U.S. in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament.
Charlotte described the transfer fee as a club record, though neither team revealed the figure. British media reported it to be $7.7 million.
'Agyemang has been playing for most of the 2025 Major League Soccer season with a hernia injury that has been managed without surgery but meant he has been playing in discomfort,' Derby said in its announcement. 'With a long-term view in mind, all parties have agreed he will undergo routine surgery and is therefore likely to miss the opening games of the 2025-26 season.'
The East Hartford, Connecticut native was selected 12th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Anton Stach has agreed personal terms with Leeds United, but the Premier League side are yet to reach an agreement with Hoffenheim who currently demand around €20m plus add-ons. Leeds United's interest in the 26-year-old German midfielder originated last week, but the newly-promoted club also face competition from elsewhere, with Plettenberg adding that TSG have received several enquiries for Stach. Advertisement Hoffenheim's €20m valuation of Stach, who has a contract until 2027, is around market value at the Bundesliga side know players of similar quality have already been sold for more. If Stach does leave, Hoffenheim already have a potential replacement in their squad after signing Leon Avdullahu from Basel earlier in the window. Hoffenheim's other crop of midfielders includes Dennis Geiger, Grischa Prömel, Finn Ole Becker and Umut Tohumcu. Where does Anton Stach excel? A defensive-minded box-to-box midfielder, Anton Stach ranks in the 93rd percentile for interceptions (1.65 per 90), 99th percentile for clearances (3.65 per 90) and 88th percentile for aerials won (1.83 per 90), when compared to positional peers across the top five European leagues, per FBRef. Juventus ready to rival Milan for Pubill
Milan are not the only club interested in Marc Pubill, as Sportitalia reports that the Spanish right-back is Juventus' first option in that position. Almeria right-back Pubill has emerged as Juventus and Milan's first choice for the right-back position. Advertisement Juventus vs Milan for Pubill Sky Sport Italia reported on Tuesday that the 22-year-old defender was the first name on Milan's agenda, but according to Sportitalia, the same is true of Juventus. Pubill is under contract with Almeria until June 2029 and has made 34 appearances in La Liga playing for Almeria and Levante. Juventus have already signed Jonathan David to strengthen their attack and will soon announce Francisco Conceiçao's permanent move to the club. Milan, on the other hand, signed Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric in central midfield, but need new full-backs, having parted ways with Theo Hernandez (left flank) and Kyle Walker (right flank).

Moise Kean: Man United move unlikely as crucial date missed
Manchester United remain short on attacking options despite the transfer window having been open for well over a month. After securing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a bright start to the summer, no more forward options have come through the door. Advertisement The club are tied up in protracted negotiations for Brentford number 10 Bryan Mbeumo, and all the while the hunt for a new centre-forward is getting more difficult. What's the plan? Across Europe there have been a number of top strikers available for transfer this summer, but United don't appear to have moved for any of them. With the exception of Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, whose bargain release clause was ultimately triggered by Chelsea, the Red Devils haven't made a concrete move for any number 9s. Meanwhile the prolific Viktor Gyokeres is set to join Arsenal and the world-class Victor Osimhen looks destined for Galatasaray. Advertisement Hugo Ekitike is the latest name mentioned, although the fact that United interest has supposedly piqued in the aftermath of Newcastle United getting serious about the Frenchman suggests this is more opportunistic reporting than anything else. Moise Kean Working down the list of options, the Red Devils moved on to a reported interest in Fiorentina's Moise Kean. The Italian is an intriguing proposition, having roundly failed to impress at Everton and also struggling at Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. However, after scoring 25 goals for Fiorentina last season there is a feeling in some corners that he has finally started achieving his potential. Advertisement Fresh barrier The Red Devils were tipped to trigger the 25-year-old's €52m release clause, but that ship has now sailed as the clause expired today. Corriere dello Sport report this news today, explaining that anyone wishing to sign the player will now have to negotiate a deal with Fiorentina, which would be a 'soap opera'. La Viola now intend to lock Kean down with a 'top-level salary', effectively closing the door to the player as a viable option for United this summer. Interestingly, the release clause comes back into play next year – it is valid every summer for the remainder of Kean's current contract from 1 July to 15 July. If the club are determined to lock him down to a new deal, however, it wouldn't be a surprise to see this clause removed. Advertisement While no contract offer has yet been received by the player from Fiorentina, the report implies it's a matter of when, not if, he signs a new contract at the club. This is backed up by his recent comments that he is 'really motivated to move forward' with the Florence side. Never a target The report notes that Kean shrugged off interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, but that while 'the option of Manchester United remained' a concrete move from the club 'never materialised'. That the Red Devils have watched on as the player's release clause expires, in a summer where every penny counts even more than usual, surely indicates that they never intended to pursue the Italy international in the first place. Advertisement Corriere dello Sport concede that 'a move between now and the end of the transfer window cannot be ruled out', but Fiorentina have 'regained control' and it would be a very difficult deal to do.
