Trump spoke to reporters in Turnberry, Scotland, where he was asked, 'You had said you had not been briefed that your name was in the Epstein files, doesn't the AG have to tell you?'
In response, Trump said, 'Well, I haven't been overly interested in it. It's a hoax that's been built up by those, way beyond proportion. Those files were run by the worst scum on earth. They were run by Comey, they were fun by Garland, they were run by Biden. Those files were run for four years by those people.'
'The whole thing is a hoax. They ran the files. I was running against somebody that ran the files. If they had something they would have released.'
He called the whole thing 'fake', alleging that the 'phony' files were run by 'sick people'. 'As an example, Christopher Steele, wrote a book, we call the 'fake news dossier.''

Trump says nobody approached him for pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell
Moving further, Trump reiterated that he is "allowed" to grant pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell.
'Well, I'm allowed to give her a pardon, but nobody's approached me with it, nobody's asked me about it,' the POTUS told reporters who inquired about Maxwell. 'It's in the news about that—that aspect of it, but right now it would be inappropriate to talk about it,' he stated.

Trump says Epstein 'stole people who worked for me'
Speaking further about his ties with Epstein, Trump said that he severed his relationship with him and even threw him out of his Mar-a-Lago club after 'he stole people who worked for me.'
Trump claimed that after being advised not to do it again, Epstein stole at least one more worker from him.
Speaking in Scotland, the POTUS gave no further information about the conflict with Epstein, who died by suicide in a New York federal prison weeks after being detained in July 2019 on suspicion of child sex trafficking.
'He hired help, and I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He stole people that work for me. I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He did it again,' Trump said, adding that Epstein later became 'persona non grata.'
'I threw him out, and that was it. I'm glad I did if you want to know the truth.'
This comes as questions have been raised regarding their equation and friendship following Attorney General Pam Bondi's and other Trump administration officials' failure to share investigative files about the late sex offender.

File image/Reuters India is 'actively involved' in discussions for a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the United States, with the goal of expanding trade and investment and deepening the commercial relationship to promote growth, national security, and job creation, said Jitin Prasada, Minister of Commerce, in a written response to the Lok Sabha on August 5. The answer came only hours after India issued a strong statement in response to US President Donald Trump's social media post threatening New Delhi with extra tariffs on its oil trade with Moscow. President Trump has threatened to hike tariffs on India 'substantially' for importing Russian oil, accusing New Delhi of benefitting from Moscow's fuel during the continuing war in Ukraine. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Trump administration has yet to elaborate on the extra taxes. Negotiations for a trade agreement between India and the United States began in March 2025, and five rounds of discussions have been place thus far, the most recent in July. Talks for a mini-version of a deal before August 1 appear to have failed, as divergences continued, particularly on agriculture. Regarding the efforts being taken by the government to protect critical industries such as agriculture, Prasada stated that international trade agreements allow for the inclusion of sensitive, negative, or exclusion lists - groupings of commodities that get restricted or no tariff concessions. On August 5, Prasada said, 'In addition, in case of surge in imports and injury to the domestic industry, a country is allowed to take recourse to trade remedial measures such as anti-dumping and safeguards on imports within the periods as mutually agreed to by the parties under FTAs.' On July 30, Trump declared a 25 percent tax and an undisclosed fine on India for acquiring Russian energy supplies and defence equipment. Responding to the ongoing trade discussions with the United States, MoS for Agriculture Ramnath Thakur stated that the government has always prioritised farmers' livelihoods and interests, as well as food security concerns, while negotiating deals with international partners, including the United States.

Illegal, Threat: Russia Hits Back At US President Trumps Warning To India Against Trade With Moscow

Russia on Tuesday hit out at the United States, a day after President Donald Trump issued a trade and tariff threat to India. Earlier, Trump had warned India to face additional tariffs if New Delhi's purchase of Russian oil continues. Russia has now responded by saying that such threats against trade with Moscow are illegal. Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that it's unacceptable to force countries to stop trading with Russia and every country has a right to choose its trade partners. Peskov said that such pressure will be interpreted as threats. According to reports, Peskov told reporters that Russia has taken cognisance of threats and attempts to force countries to cut trade with Russia. The Kremlin spokesperson said that Russia believes sovereign countries should have the right to choose their own trading partners and to choose for themselves the forms of trade and economic cooperation that are in the interests of a particular country. US President Donald Trump warned India on Monday to cut down its trade, including oil and defence items or face additional tariffs. Trump is of the opinion that India's oil purchase is fuelling the Russia-Ukraine war. "India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits. They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine," Trump wrote in a social media post. "Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA,' he added. After Trump threatened to impose hefty tariffs on New Delhi, India on Monday said that the targeting of the country by the US over Russian oil purchase is unjustified and unreasonable. A statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson said that like any major economy, 'India will take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests and economic security'. According to the government, India has been targetted by the United States and the European Union for importing oil from Russia after the commencement of the Ukraine conflict. 'In fact, India began importing from Russia because traditional supplies were diverted to Europe after the outbreak of the conflict. The United States at that time actively encouraged such imports by India for strengthening global energy markets stability,' the Centre emphasised.
